I currently reside in
Far Rockaway New York. I was born in Trinidad
& Tobago, a twin island Republic in the Caribbean; I migrated
to the United States of America about 15 years ago in order to attend
college.<>

I graduated from High School in Trinidad, West Indies at the age of 16
years; and twelve years later I migrated to New
York to attend College. I started my undergraduate degree
at the City College of the City University of New York. My
goal was to finish all the prerequisite courses for Pharmacy at City
College, then transfer to one of the only two Colleges in downstate New
York that offered a Bachelor of Science degree in
Pharmacy. Those colleges were Long Island University and St.Johns
University. The tuition at both colleges was way too much
for me. I was a foreign student on an F-1 visa, and had limited
funds. I was accepted to Long Island University School of Pharmacy in
Brooklyn New York in 1992. I spent only one year there. I
had to withdraw because my tuition arrears were doubling up on
me. I transferred back to the City College of New York to
complete my degree in Chemistry.
While at the City
College of New York I landed a job as a College Assistant in an Adult
Degree program. While in that position I saw an ad for a full time
position in the Office of Admissions. The only requirement that I
was unable to satisfy was the need for a Bachelor's degree. I was
just about four courses away from earning a degree in Chemistry
and one course away from earning a degree in Liberal Arts and
Sciences. I opted for the latter.
I got my Bachelors degree at the City College of New York from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the spring of 1997. I began working as the Admissions Coordinator at the Center for Worker Education at City College in the Summer of 1997. I worked there until December 2002. I then got a position as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in January 2003.
As the Assistant
Director of Admissions at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, part of my
duties involve recruiting students to our College of Nursing and the
College of Health Related Professions; and also to bring fresh ideas to
the College. We do offer on line courses
in two of the Graduate Nursing Programs. These courses are offered via
a blended approach. My goal is to revamp this
Graduate Nursing Program with my newly gained knowledge of Online
Distance learning and Adult Education. The
field of Nursing is soaring right now. Currently
at our college of Nursing we have to reduce the class size because of
the lack of faculty to teach, using the traditional delivery of
education. The faculty teach Monday
through Friday, 9.00 to 7.00 p.m. Distance
learning via the online delivery has no time barriers, and class size
does not present a problem. This is where
I am going with my Graduate degree, which I hope to earn at the
University of
Phoenix in July 2005.
I am married for six years to my wonderful and supportive wife Arlene, who I met at College. We have a five and a half year old son, Phoenix; who is four feet tall and weighs about 100lbs. I believe that he is heading towards the NFL or a Shaq type center in the NBA. I am six feet six inches tall. I played basketball years ago. I love watching it more now, than playing it because my 45 year old knees can no longer sustain 240lbs jumping up and down with them. I also love a great game of American football. I say American football because what America calls soccer, we call football.
