The CAT-astrophie

“Gotcha!” You turn towards the sound and see a 14-year-old boy with brown hair and brown eyes dive at the rat-like Pokemon, Rattata. The Rattata easily moves out of the way of the boy. “Dang!” He crouches down like a cat getting ready to pounce. “I’ll get you this time,” he says through gritted teeth. He lunges towards the Rattata again and misses. This seems very odd, and you scratch your head. You jump when you feel someone tap your shoulder. You quickly turn around to see a 13-year-old girl with Pikachu ears and a Mew tail standing there. “Who are you?” You ask. She smiles. “I’m Pikamew, and that boy over there,” she gestures to the boy trying to catch the Rattata, “That’s Dillin. You’re probably wondering what he’s doing.” You nod. Pikamew sighs, “It all started when…
Dillin and his girlfriend, Luna, have been living in a secret grove for about two years. Luna was getting tired of eating the fruits and vegetables of the grove. She wanted something different for a change. Luna walked over to where Dillin was. “Dillin?” Dillin turned to face her. “Yeah?” “I’m getting tired of eating just fruits and vegetables, and I was wondering if you could go out and get some stuff for me.” Dillin nodded. “What do you want me to get?” “Not much, just a cheeseburger and some strawberry bubblegum.” Dillin nodded again. “Ok, I’ll be back in about an hour.” Dillin walked off. He went out of the grove and started walking through the forest to the town. About a half hour later he was walking back through the forest with the gum in his pocket and the bag with the cheeseburger in his hand. As he was walking he tripped over a tree root and dropped the bag. Then a large net came out of nowhere and trapped him. “AAA!” Dillin yelled. Then, from the bushes snickering was heard, and a man in his 30’s with a lab coat and glasses stepped out from behind the bush. Dillin glared at him. “LET ME GO RIGHT NOW!!” he shrieked. The scientist just laughed. “Now why would I do that? You’re coming with me to be one of my experiments!” “Oh no I’m not! I’m not going anywhere with you!” Dillin gritted his teeth as he glared at the scientist. “I’m afraid that’s not an option! Ahahahahahaha!!!” The scientist reached for his lab coat and pulled a sword out from under it. “If you try to run, you’ll only get stabbed!” Dillin gulped. The scientist then took the net off of Dillin while pointing the sword at him. “Now get moving!” Dillin, afraid of getting stabbed, obediently walked forward with the scientist behind him. A huge white building came into view and the scientist started to sing, “I got a Persian, I got a Persian,” He started to wave his sword around, “I got a Persian, I got a Persian, I got a rubber sword!” Dillin and the scientist suddenly stopped. “Oops!” The scientist covered his mouth. Dillin turned around in a rage. “WHAT?!?” The scientist started to freak out and hit Dillin hard on the head with the rubber sword, knocking him out. "Hnn...?" Dillin slowly opened his eyes. His head was spinning. He sat up and groaned. He yawned and let his eyes adjust to his surroundings. He was in a cage. He saw a strange machine with a small computer next to it. The room was dark, and a little cold. He jumped when he heard the door slowly creek open. He closed his eyes as a blinding bright light lit up the room. He slowly opened his eyes, trying to get used to the sudden light. After everything came into focus, he saw the scientist standing at the door with his hand on the light switch. He was snickering. "Have a nice sleep?" He snickered some more and started circling the cage. "Yes! My experiment worked!" He gave a triumphant pose. "Now all I need to do is run a few more tests to see if everything worked properly! I will do that tomorrow, though, I need to get some rest!" He walked out of the room and shut the door. What did he do to me? Dillin thought to himself. He looked down at his hands and gasped. He saw two furry legs and paws. He shook his head and looked again. They were still there. To make sure they were his, he shook his left hand. The paw shook. He started to desperately look himself over. All fur. He looked behind him and saw a long tail that was curled at the end. He looked at his hind legs and saw a fire design on his hindquarters. "Come to think of it, I was last wearing my flame designed pants.." He looked around and saw his reflection in a nearby piece of metal. Three thick whiskers poked out of each side of his fur-covered face. He wiggled his cat nose and opened his mouth to see sharp white teeth. Two rounded, black ears poked out from the top of his head and a red gem on his forehead sparkled. A tuft of fur slightly covered his right eye. Dillin was a little shocked about his appearance. He looked a little different from the normal mountain lion-like Pokemon, Persian. His eyes were the same as his own, instead of the slit pupils of the cat eyed Persian. The flame design and the tuft of hair was also something that normal Persians wouldn't have. The necklace that he never took off was visible. He sighed and looked down at his necklace. The blue and purple cross on the necklace sparkled. He stood up on all fours. I have to get used to this... He thought to himself. I have to get out of here!” He looked around the room again and saw an open window. “It’s small, but I think I’ll be able to slip through,” he thought. “But first I have to get out of this cage!” He looked at the door of the cage. The door was closed with a lock. “Hmm… I might be able to pick the lock with my claw.” He poked out one of his claws, reached his paw out of the cage, and started to pick at the lock with the sharp claw. “Almost.. There!” A click was heard and the lock opened. He batted at the lock and it soon fell to the ground, making a soft clinking sound. He quietly pushed open the cage door and snuck over to the window. He jumped up and was able to squeeze through the window. Just as he slipped through, an alarm went off. He darted away into the forest and dashed up a tree. He watched contentedly as the scientist ran by under the tree. He leaped down and sprinted towards the magic tree that hid the entrance into the secret grove. As he was running, he thought to him self, “Now that I’m a Pokemon, I should give myself a nickname. It sounds kind of odd if a Persian was called Dillin. Hmmm… I got it! I’ll call myself Fire because of the fire design on my hind legs.” As he came closer to the tree, he charged. He ran smack dab into the tree. He stumbled backwards, his head throbbing. He shook his head to get rid of the dizziness. “Got to think happy thoughts to get in.” He thought about Luna and the first time she kissed him, and then he charged at the tree again. This time, he went through the secret portal to the grove. Luna was pacing back and forth. “Where is Dillin? He should have been back a long time ago!” She looked up at the sky, worrying. “I hope he’s okay…” She sat down on a rock and sighed. “Hm?” She looked up and saw a Persian running up to her. The Persian was Dillin, but of course Luna didn’t know it was Dillin. He started to talk quickly, “Luna, it’s me, Dillin! I need your help!” but all that came out of his mouth was, “Per, rer, Rer! Par rersian!” Luna looked confused. “I wish I could understand you..” Dillin tried again, “It’s me! Luna! Please help me!!” again, all that came out was Persian sounds. Luna just shook her head. “I’m sorry, I still don’t understand.” Dillin started trying to show Luna who he was. First he turned so that Luna could see the fire design. Luna gasped. “Wow, that’s a pretty design! I’ve never seen a Persian with a design on it.” Dillin groaned. He pointed to the necklace. Luna looked at it closely. “That looks like Dillin’s necklace…” Dillin started jumping around excitedly. Luna shook her head. “Nah, I’m sure there’s more than one necklace like that…” “Per.” Dillin fell over. He quickly got up and started digging around in his fur. He found the packet of gum buried in the fur on his right back leg. He snatched the gum with his teeth and gave it to Luna. “Strawberry bubblegum?” Luna started to look worried. “Are you trying to tell me Dillin’s in trouble?” Dillin didn’t know how to answer that question, so he nodded. Luna jumped up. “Where is he? Please take me to him!” Dillin just stood there, and blinked a few times. Luna looked very worried. “Please?” The Persian only replied with “Perrerrer!” Then Dillin remembered the device in his ear that made it possible to understand Pokemon speech. Now that he was a Persian, he didn’t need it anymore. He started picking at his ear with his claw and pulled out the small microchip. “Perrer!” He handed the device to Luna. “Hey, this is one of those devices made to hear Pokemon! I wonder where you got it…” She put the microchip in her ear. “What do you want to tell me?” Dillin started to talk to her. “Luna, it’s me, Dillin!” Luna stared. “You’re joking! How do I know you’re not lying?” Dillin thought a bit. “Look at my eyes.” Luna looked into his eyes. She recognized those warm, brown eyes. They were the same as Dillin’s eyes. “Dillin? But how-?” Dillin sighed and started to explain. After Dillin was done telling Luna what happened, Luna was determined to help him. “Show me where the lab is.” Dillin nodded, then asked, “Luna? Can you call me Fire while I’m like this? You know, it would sound kinda strange if you called a Persian Dillin.” Luna laughed. “OK, I’ll call you Fire. Now where is the lab?” “Follow me.” Dillin started to walk out of the grove. Luna followed. He started to walk in the direction of the lab. “So this is the lab…” Luna and Fire stood outside of the large white building. Fire nodded. “Yup, this is it.” “How do we get in without you being noticed?” Luna asked. “Uhh…” Fire thought. “I dunno…” Luna sighed and thought a bit. “I know!” “AAA!” Fire jumped from surprise. “Don’t scare me like that!” “Sorry, but I think I know how to get in without you being noticed.” “How?” “You may not like it.” “What? Not like what?” “Well, maybe if you were in a Pokeball…” Fire winced. “Are you saying that I should let you capture me in a Pokeball?!?” “Well, uh, yes.” Fire mumbled. “Great, I’m going to be owned by my own girlfriend…” “Only temporarily!” “Well, all right…” “OK, just get inside.” Luna held out a small red and white Pokeball in front of Fire. Fire hesitated, and then pushed the button on the Pokeball. He started to glow red as he got smaller and got sucked into the Pokeball. Luna pushed the button to make the Pokeball shrink, and then walked up to the large door of the lab and knocked. No answer. She opened the door and tiptoed inside. She started to look for the room Fire described to her. She found it and entered quietly. “Ok, Fire, we’re here!” She threw the Pokeball to let Fire out. A red stream of light came from the Pokeball and started to shape into a large cat. The glowing stopped and there stood Fire. He shook himself off then looked around. “Yeah, this is the room.” He jumped up onto the metal table by the computer. “I think all you have to do is push that big green button on the machine.” “Okay.” Luna pushed the button and there was a white flash. Fire felt the electricity surge through him. He started to feel a change come over his body. After the shock was over and the light dimmed back to normal he looked down at his hands. They were his normal human hands. Dillin cheered, “YES!! I’M ME AGAIN!!” Luna ran over to Dillin and hugged him. “It worked! You’re back to your normal self!” Dillin jumped up and down. “YES!! I’M ME AGAIN!! WOOPIE!!!” He suddenly tensed up as he heard the turning of a doorknob. “Uh-oh…” Luna gazed around the room. “Come on! The window’s still open! Let’s go!” They ran to the window, then Dillin lifted Luna up so she could climb through. After she got through, she pulled Dillin up through the window. Then they quickly got up and started to run back to the grove. After they were safely back in the grove, they hugged. Dillin backed up and crossed his arms. “All that was not worth a Cheeseburger and strawberry gum, no way!” They both started laughing. Dillin froze when he heard rustling in the tall grass. He turned around and leaped at the sound. Luna, shocked, questioned, “Dillin, what on earth are you doing?!” Dillin was digging around in the tall grass. “Must… Get… Rattata!” He backed up then lunged into the grass and Luna heard rustling, then a squeal. “Dillin! Leave that poor Rattata alone!” The Rattata scampered away from the tall grass with a triumphant look on its face. Luna looked back at the tall grass, confused, and saw a very wet, annoyed Persian face poking out of the grass. “He used a water gun attack…” “Dillin! You’re a Persian again!” “Huh?” Dillin looked down at his paws. “ACK! I wanna be a human!!” All of a sudden he started to glow and change shape. He was a human again. “YAY! I can willingly be Fire or me! Cool!” Luna sighed. “Oy…” “Well, that’s how it all happened.” You look back to where the boy was, but he’s not there. “Huh?” You look around. All of a sudden a Persian pounces on you and pins you down. He has a flame design on his back legs. You see a pink Persian step out from the tall grass. It calmly walks over to where you are. The pink persian starts to glow and change shape. It's Luna! She looks down at the persian. "Fire, down!" Fire puts his ears down and backs up off of you. He turns back into Dillin and smiles nervously. "Ehehe... Sorry, couldn't help myself." You look at Pikamew and ask, "Luna's a pink Persian? How did that happen?" Pikamew laughs. "That's another story."
