This topic is one of heated debate. My personal opinion is that, no, James is *not* gay. Okay, so he dresses up like a woman. Alot. But he's also dressed up like an old man, a magician, a hair stylist, a kabuki star, a rocker, among other random things. My point? They're DISGUISES, and most of them are *required* for the evil schemes that he and Jessie come up with. For example, in "Abra and the Psychic Showdown", both he and Jessie dress up in hawaiian hula skirts. They successfully fool Ash, Brock, and Misty into thinking that they are greeters, and that they have a prize for them. Doing this, they get the three to follow them. They *also* successfully steal Pikachu. You may have seen this picture before. Let me assure you, those are FAKE. James is wearing an inflatable body suit. This is just another example of James doing whatever he must do in the line of duty! In this episode, "Holiday at Aopulco" (which, I may mention, was cut out of the American version for this particular scene), Jessie and James both enter a swimsuit competition. The prize? Money. And if it means earning some extra cash, Jessie and James are in. Well, why only enter Jessie and have only *half* the chance of winning? Why not enter James, too, and raise the possibilities? Makes sense to me! I know alot of guys out there wouldn't cross-dress to save their lives; James, on the other hand, has failed and been humiliated so many times, this probably doesn't bother him a bit. He's also very self-confident, and doesn't care what anyone else thinks; he loves himself and that's all that matters. If James wanted to make friends, why would he be a villain? And, as I've said before, he's is a big pushover. So it's likely that alot of the time, he cross-dresses because Jessie orders him to do so. Besides, Team Rocket are the comic relief in the show. Many people find it hilarious when James dresses up. And think about it; James isn't the *only* person in anime who cross-dresses. There are *many* cool, straight people in anime who cross-dress: Ucchan Kuonji... Zelgadis Greywords... Even Ash. He's the cute little blonde one. ^_^ And who can forget Jessie, who's done *her* share of cross-dressing at well? At least it's a team effort. Still want proof? Well, in "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak", James falls in love at first sight with the ghost of the maiden (Yes, "maiden", as in FEMALE.), as seen above. It isn't only obvious by the hearts in his eyes, but his words, too: "Iloveheriloverheriloverherilovher!", "You're beautiful, I'm COMING to you!", "She's the girl of my dreams---don't wake me up!", etc. And after seeing Giselle, (ugh...stupid freaknasty...) the head student at Pokemon Tec, James' eyes get big and glassy as he comments on how cute she is. (blah!)
