Part One- The Hooded Figure
Screams can be heard as the men tear through Viridian City. The men are known as the Black Bandits, a group of Team Rocket members. Giovanni had long since taken over League, and seized control of the pokemon world. Gym leaders were thrown out, and some went into hiding. The raids happened every couple of months or so, but it was hard to tell. Trainers that resisted were brutally slaughtered before their family’s eyes. Hope had become a myth, and friends had become hard to come by. Wild pokemon were scarce, and could only be found deep into the forests. Although some people still trained, it was often that they joined Team Rocket, and only a small group of elite trainers were known. They were in hiding of course, and even though the people deemed them heroes, they were never there during the raids. In a back alley a girl is thrown harshly to the ground. A man pins her down and laughs into her ear. The girl screams for help, but finds none. A Raichu sits behind the trainer threatening the girl by sparking its cheeks. All of the Bandits’ pokemon were at extreme levels, and most had a certain kind of armor that made them immune to their normal weaknesses.
The girl screamed again, then suddenly gasped as the man punched her. “You’re a pretty thing, but you have a pretty big mouth. Shut up.” He growled. Suddenly a strong hand grasped the man’s shoulder and threw him back. The man landed harshly on the ground. He looked up to see a hooded figure look down on him. “Raichu!” The man ordered sharply. In a small crack of lightning Raichu had wrapped its lengthy tail around the hooded figure and wrapped it tightly so that it could not move, but it seemed as though the figure did not wish too. In fact the figure just stood there. Emerald green eyes shown out from the darkness within the hood, and a piece of brown hair had come loose and shown itself. Suddenly a blur of orange and blacked slammed into the Raichu, forcing it to let go of the figure. Raichu found itself being attacked by a very angry Growlithe. The man looked frantically at his trapped pokemon, then slung a fist at the hooded figure. The figure sidestepped it easily. The man gave a cry of rage, then barreled the figure into the wall. The figure grunted, but then with strength that was too much for his body pushed the man back. The figure grabbed the man’s head and slammed it into a tree. The man slumped to the ground at the same moment his Raichu did. The Growlithe spit out some blood, then ran to the figure’s side. The figure looked at the girl, who managed to stutter, “T-thank you.” The figure walked away, and soon had faded into the dark night.
Chaos wrecked the town. Buildings had been set on fire, bleeding bodies were adorning the streets. The hooded figure stepped up to the Black Bandit in charge. He was laughing with enjoyment as one of his men’s Venusaur had killed a resisting trainer’s Beedrill, then killed the trainer himself. The head Bandit slapped his comrade on the back and told him good job. “Thank you sir...hey...who’s that?” The Bandit asked pointing to the hooded figure. The figure stepped out of the shadow and into the light. The cloak hid all of his features except for his dazzling green eyes and a strand of brown hair. The Black Bandit leader turned and saw him. “Another challenger? Ha! Take your best shot.” The figure said nothing. “I’ll choose Magmar to fight.” The leader said. The fiery demon appeared and dug one webbed foot into the ground. Then the figure spoke, and his voice was revealed as surprisingly soft. “Kapu.” He said. The Growlithe next to his legs stepped out, and gave a threatening growl. Unlike most of his kind, this Growlithe did not seem playful, yet very serious like his trainer. “Magmar, flame-thrower!” The Magmar cast up a fiery storm and threw it at Kapu, but then a soft command could be heard, “Fire blast.” Kapu inhaled, then exhaled in a roar of flames so powerful that it engulfed both Bandits and their pokemon. This was no ordinary Growlithe.... When the flames cleared the Magmar and Venusaur were still and unmoving. They were dead, and the metal armor that they had worn had melted and rolled off to the side. The Black Bandit was dead, but the leader was barely alive. With the last ounce of his strength, he asked, “Who....a-are....y-y-ou?” The hooded figure lifted the hood off of his face. When the leader looked up he saw a boy that had to be at the age of fifteen or sixteen. He had brown hair that consistently fell over his now dull green eyes. In those eyes the Bandit found no sympathy, he found nothing...nothing but a steel gaze of a warrior. How could a kid be so harsh? That was the leader’s last thought before a wave of pain fell over him, and then his eyes rolled up into the back of his head. “May you rest in peace.”
After the death of their leader the rest of the Black Bandits retreated to where ever they came from, and the townspeople walked curiously towards the boy in the cloak. His hood was still down, still revealing his mysterious face. “Who are you?” The girl that he had saved earlier asked. With harsh eyes he glanced at her, and after a minute answered. “Tobias.” Kapu was back at his side, standing proudly and looking quite majestic. Tobias reached down a single hand and touched Kapu’s fur so ever lightly, indicating a job well done with the Magmar. “How can we thank you?” One man asked. “Can we welcome you to stay the rest of the night?” Tobias gazed at him with eyes made of steel. “You can thank me by forgetting my name.” He said. With those words he lifted the hood over his face again and whistled softly. Kapu barked, then was at his heels. One of the women noticed a necklace hanging from Kapu’s neck. It was an orange medallion carved like a dragon with its wings outstretched. The woman then noticed an identical charm on Tobias’s neck. She wondered what it meant, but before she could get a better look, Tobias had vanished.
Part 2- The Identical Pendants
Kapu trotted next to Tobias. They were deep in the forest, and Tobias lowered the hood of his cloak off of his face. As they hiked Tobias could not help but remember the woman staring at the pendent around his neck. He lowered his emerald eyes toward the orange dragon. He held it in his fist, and suddenly the memory came rushing back to him.
Tobias had been 12 when he had found it. At the moment the raids were just beginning by the Black Bandits. His house had been torn down over a three years ago, and his parents murdered before his very eyes. They had made him watch as they killed his father and all of his pokemon, and then made to watch his mother suffer as they raped her, each in turn. Tobias had cried and pleaded, but they did not listen, they just hit him and laughed. In the end he had watched his mother suffer with no dignity, they had stripped it from her throughout the night. He had been able to do nothing. He had been chained to the chair with his eyes taped open, he was helpless to help his mother or his father. Only days earlier there had been a Growlithe in town. It had raided the local bakery, and made off with a loaf of bread. Tobias had tried to track it down, but it escaped from him in the end. It was that Growlithe that saved him that night. There was a scratch at the door, and one of the bandits had said, “That must be my Raticate.” He had opened the door and the Growlithe had bounded in. It had roared in anger, then ran towards Tobias’s chair. He had quickly chewed through the ropes. Tobias had headed to his mother, but she screeched at him to leave while he could. The bandits came after him, so Tobias ran for the door with the Growlithe at his heels. Once in the forest the two looked into each other’s eyes. There were two necklaces around the Growlithe’s neck, and he took one in understanding. The Growlithe had been a bandit against the bandits, but he couldn’t do it alone, he was only a puppy. So Tobias had slipped the necklace around his neck, and named the Growlithe Kapu after a heroic wolf in a book that he had read. From then on, whenever they needed each other their pendants would glow, and they would come to help each other.
A twig snapped, and Tobias jerked back to the present. That had been three years ago, and Tobias still felt badly about abandoning his mother. No doubt they had taken his escape out on her. Tobias looked around to see who snapped the twig, but had seen nobody. Suddenly Tobias was flung to the ground. He hit his head on a log, and he could feel the blood running down his face. He rolled over to see three Black Bandits over him, smirking. “You’ve escaped from us before, but your time has come to see our boss. You see we would get paid if you were dead, but we will get more if you’re alive.” They smiled. Tobias rolled over and tried to escape, but he was kicked in the stomach, and left breathless. Suddenly Tobias shouted, “KAPU!” There was a fierce glowing underneath his cloak. “What’s that?” One of the men asked. He pulled the necklace off of Tobias’s neck, breaking the leather it was on. The dragon pendent was glowing softly, and then off in the distance they all heard, “Grooooooowlithe!” Tobias shot his eyes towards an overhanging cliff. A orange and black blur was soaring over his head. It landed on the first man, knocking him out cold. Then Kapu turned and erupted with a roar of fire towards the other two. They fell; it was an immediate death. Tobias grabbed the necklace out of the unconscious man’s hand and retied it around his neck. Then placing the hood over his face jumped and grabbed hold of the bottom of the cliff. He pulled himself up, then whistled. Kapu launched into his arms. Then the two took off at a run, anxious to put the two dead men and the unconscious man behind him.
Part Three- The Pewter City Ambush
Tobias knelt by the stream and splashed his face with the clear water. Kapu was next to him lapping the water greedily. Tobias reached over and placed a hand on his back. He stroked Kapu once, then rose to his feet again and looked around. They should reach Pewter City by nightfall, which was good because he did not wish to enter by day. If they did not need his help he would continue round the city and go on through Mt. Moon and on to Cerulean City.
Tobias set off at a steady pace with Kapu right behind him. When their stomachs rumbled Tobias stopped and crouched by the stream. Over the last three years Tobias had learned a special patience for catching fish. When he had first started out with Kapu he and the Growlithe had endured a lot of hunger because Tobias did not have the patience to fish. Now he crouched by the stream watching the fish and various Magikarp that swam by. Although the Magikarp were all bones, so he never bothered to try and catch them. He was working on building a small cage made out of twigs tied together with vines and spare pieces of string he had on him. He made the door to the cage go in, but not out. That way if a fish swam in then it wouldn’t be able to push its way out, unless he had made the cage too weak, and he was sure that he had made it strong. He placed the cage in the water and anchored it down with a rock that he placed on top. He whistled for Kapu and they started off towards Pewter City. He would give the fish time to swim in then he would come back later. If he was lucky he would catch as least two.
They reached Pewter City as the sun was setting. The sky was streaked with pinks, purples and reds. Tobias took in the beautiful sight before continuing on to Pewter City. “It looks fine from here, Kapu.” He said. “Growlithe.” Kapu barked. “Yeah, we better go in for a better look just in case.” Tobias and Kapu headed down the hill and towards Pewter City. It had been two weeks since he had killed the Leader of The Black Bandit Squad 220. He had already been attacked once, he was sure that they were all waiting to get their hands on him. Plus, that had not been the only raid he had spoiled. His first raid had been on an island that had been discovered about four years back. It had prospered quite well, and it now deemed the name of Aureate Island. That’s where he had started, then he had hitched a ride with a local fishermen to pallet town. When he had chased the Black Bandits from there, he continued on to Viridian where Kapu had torched the leader of the Black Bandits Squad 220. Now he entered Pewter slowly and warily.
The people gave him a cautious look, then continued on with their business. Tobias pulled the hood of his cloak farther over his head, trying to hide his eyes. “Everything seems okay.” Tobias whispered to Kapu. Tobias stepped in front of the gym looking at it. He looked down and saw a damaged sign. It read
“Pewter City Gym: Gym Leader: Brock, The Rock Hard Trainer!”
Tobias tossed the sign and looked at the abandoned gym. When he was little his dreams of becoming a pokemon trainer had demolished when the Black Bandits had joined with Team Rocket. Tobias kicked the fallen sign, then headed back for the entrance of the town. He was starving and was looking forward to finding a fish or two in his trap. Suddenly a woman’s scream came from down the street. She shrieked, “The Bandits! The Bandits! They’re here!” There was a sudden fury of hoof beats as the squad of Bandits rode into town on Ponytas. Tobias ducked into the shadows. A man on a Rapidash rode in which Tobias guessed could only be the squad leader. Tobias crouched down, using the shadows of the building as a shroud. Darkness had fallen completely on the town now, as if the raid from the Bandits had drawn the final shade down on the sun. “Who you hidin’ from boy?” A voice boomed from behind him. A big hand grabbed the neck of Tobias’s cloak and threw him into the air. He landed on the street, and skid to a stop at the Rapidash’s hooves. Tobias got to his knees and looked up. The Rapidash had a head plate with a metal horn attached that was way longer than its original horn should have been. “Ah, if it isn’t the boy that has caused so much destruction. You jump around a lot don’t you?” The streets were covered in civilians that were watching in awe while the rest of the Black Bandits kept them on the sidewalks with threatening Arcanines on short chains.
Tobias didn’t answer. “I can’t believe that you managed to ruin our raid in Celadon as well.” Under his hood Tobias narrowed his eyes. He had never been to Celadon... “Where’s your Charizard and Growlithe?” Again under the darkness of his hood Tobias narrowed his eyes. He didn’t have a Charizard. “Why don’t you speak? What are you hiding?” The voice was getting impatient now. “Show your face!” The voice demanded. Tobias made no move to. There was a sharp command and the rough hand lifted him into the air and shook him. His hood fell revealing his emerald eyes and his brown hair that fell down over his eyes. Tobias showed no emotions in his eyes, that could get him in trouble. Suddenly a blur of orange and black swept past Tobias and leapt at the man on the Rapidash’s back. There was yelp of pain, then Kapu went sliding against the ground. Tobias screamed and pulled against his captor. “Kapu, no!” He elbowed the man holding him in the stomach then ran towards his Growlithe. He knelt beside him, Kapu was breathing, but did not stir. Tobias looked up to the Black Bandit Squad Leader. He had merely backhanded the dog before it had been able to get his jaws around his neck. Tobias’s eyes flashed in fury. The Squad Leader snapped his fingers, and three Bandits circled him. Tobias made a move. He bent low and kicked one man’s feet out from under him, then dodged a punch from the second man. He kicked him in the stomach, then bent to dodged a punch from the third man. He jumped up and punched the man in the mouth. He stumbled back. Suddenly a strong hand grasped his left arm, the first man had recovered and was on his feet again. Then his other arm was immobile. The second man had gotten his breath back and was holding Tobias’s arm angrily. The third man wiped some blood from his nose, then stepped forward, laughing. “No where to run, although you put up a good fight.” The man threw his fist in Tobias’s stomach. Tobias cried out in pain, then gritted his teeth as the man hit him again. Then from the sky, a voice cried, “Let him go!”
Up in the sky a Charizard flapped its huge wings and roared. On top of the Charizard was a girl about Tobias’s own age. She was seated in a leather saddle, and was holding onto the Charizard’s back. She had blue hair tied back into a ponytail and was wearing a purple sleeveless T-shirt with blue jeans and brown hiking boots. And she had the most beautiful blue eyes Tobias had ever seen. A gold chain with a poke-ball charm on it adorned her neck. “I repeat, release the boy, or I shall be forced to attack.” She called down. The Charizard snorted smoke threatening. “You don’t scare me, silly girl, but I will release the boy as you wish.” The Squad Leader nodded to the first man holding Tobias. The man nodded back, then flung Tobias through the air. Tobias saw the brick wall rushing up to him, closer, closer, closer, then...
BAM!
Tobias hit the wall and sank to the ground. He looked up at girl on the Charizard one last time, then his vision blurred, then turned red, then he faded into a sea of blackness.
Part Four-The Dragon Rider
Tobias slowly came to his senses. His vision was blurry, but soon it cleared and unmasked a beautiful face staring down at him. The face smiled at down at him, and a strand of blue hair fell down into its face as it stared at him with brilliant blue eyes. Tobias realized it was that girl, the dragon rider who had so gallantly showed up on a scene of hopelessness last night. Anger suddenly coursed through him, and he broke the spell between them and looked away.
“What happened in Pewter City?” He asked. “Well, they thought they had caught you, but I demanded they let you go. My name is Alexia. What’s yours?” Tobias did not answer. “You seem so quiet, why is that? We won last night, the ambush at Pewter was successfully stopped.” She said happily. “No, YOU won last night, I successfully let my rage take control, the very first thing I should never do.” He sat up, and felt his head spin; nevertheless he turned away from Alexia. The girl put a hand on his shoulder, and Tobias flinched. Alexia pulled away. It had been a very long time since Tobias had been given a comforting touch. He had long since learned that it was best to avoid any touch with someone else, because pain was usually behind it. “Look, it’s not your fault, it just happens. They hurt your pokemon, anyone would get mad over that.” Tobias turned and glared at her. “Well I’m not supposed to. I put all those people at risk the second I lost my temper. If I had kept my head on straight, then I could have thought of a plan, but nooo, I had to show them just how stupid I was.” He looked around, then whistled. Kapu leapt into his arms, and Tobias stroked the Growlithe’s fur. Tobias looked around for his cloak, he found it, hanging on a tree. The blood had been washed out of it. He slipped it on, and pulled the hood of the cloak over his head. He whistled to Kapu, and started away from the camp.
“ZARD!” Tobias stopped. A huge orange lizard was blocking his path. It was Alexia’s Charizard. Alexia came up behind Tobias. “Shall I introduce my pokemon, Draco the Charizard.” She giggled. “Despite his looks, he’s quite obedient.” Tobias nodded. “That’s great.” He started walking again. Alexia ran up and started walking by his side. “Where are we attacking next?” She asked. Tobias cocked an eyebrow at her. “What’s with this ‘we’ stuff?” Alexia ran up and blocked his path. “Look, we both have the same enemy, we’re both on the same team, so why-” “Who says we’re on a team?” “But we-” “Have the same enemy? I don’t care. I work with Kapu alone, and as the saying goes, ‘there’s no ‘I’ in team.’” Tobias pushed Alexia aside and continued down the path. “Maybe you’re life would be happier if you tried to make some friends once and a while besides your stupid dog!” She shouted. Tobias kept on walking, as if he did not hear her.
Alexia watched the handsome boy disappear out of sight. Alexia looked at Draco. “Who does he think he is? We don’t need him anyway right?” Alexia patted the large dragon’s head. “Zard, char.” Alexia nodded, another blue strand of hair falling into her face. She blew it away, then looked towards the mountains in the distance. She crossed her arms and stared at them. “I bet the Black Bandits have a base in Mt. Moon, more than likely they do. We can take care of it and show that stubborn boy just what kind of power we have.” Alexia stopped and laughed. “I never even got his name...”
~ ~ ~
Tobias grunted as he pulled himself farther up the mountain. He and Kapu had discussed the plan earlier, after he had left Alexia gawking in the forest dust.
He remembered sitting at the stream washing his face. “You know, they probably have a base in Mt. Moon, it’s a positive place to look, eh?” He asked Kapu. “Groooowlithe!” Kapu replied. Tobias dipped his face into the cool stream, then studied Mt. Moon. He patted Kapu on his back. “Yep, that’s where we’ll look next then.” Tobias said, leaning back on his wrists and studying the sun in the sky. “Judging by the sun, its about four o’clock, so we’ll wait until it goes down to sneak a peek.” He told the dog. Kapu wagged his bushy tail. “Lithe, growlithe!” Kapu barked. Tobias stared at the dog. “Nah, a girl like her wouldn’t be there. I don’t know who she thinks she is, stubborn cow.”
Tobias jerked back to the present as a rock fell near his head. He looked up and saw a face sneering down at him. “Not another one, damn bandits.” Tobias cursed. Kapu was not around, Tobias had sent the dog to find another way up because he could not climb, and he certainly could not carry him. Now he wished he had found some way to carry Kapu with him, this bandit could be a problem. The bandit was looking for another rock, and soon it was flying down towards Tobias. Cloak flying behind him, Tobias easily dodged the rock by letting go of his left grip and swinging smoothly to the right. He swung back, retrieved his grip, and began climbing again. This step was repeated several times as many more rocks threatened to hit him. Tobias was swinging to the right when suddenly another rock fell opposite to the one he was currently dodging. The rock slammed into his arm and Tobias almost lost his grip. Gritting his teeth he found a grip in the rocky surface and continued to climb, ignoring the pain in his shoulder. He finally reached the top, and there he pounced on the Black Bandit member.
Tobias struggled with the man, and cried out when he took a hard fist in the face. Tobias bounced back by ramming into the man, using his head as a ramming device. The bandit gasped for air as he sat stunned on the ground. Tobias rubbed his jaw and spat on the ground, and saw that there was some blood mixed with his spit. The man had recovered, and Tobias noticed that he had a twisted smile plastered on his face. The black muzzle of the revolver was pointed towards his chest, and Tobias was sure there were bullets in the chamber. “Raise your hands, slowly.” The bandit said with a sneer. Tobias did as he was told, but the bandit was not aware of the sheath that was on his belt, yet hidden by his brown cloak. As Tobias rose his hands, he suddenly strayed away from his orders and in a split second had knocked the gun out of the bandit’s hand and had a long, nicely curved katana to the man’s throat. The bandit froze. “Please, have mercy!” He cried. Tobias looked at the man with disgust, and his green eyes flashed angrily, but they then calmed. “You have no place here.” Tobias said. The man’s face went pale with fear. “But then again, it is not in my place to judge. I am a human-being, not an animal, and I do have a conscience. Right now it’s saying that I should have mercy on a poor pitiful creature that can’t defend itself, besides, you’re already damned to Hell anyway, I won’t send you there earlier than you deserve.” He put his katana back in his sheath. The man fell with relief, then seeing his chance rushed at Tobias, when suddenly he stopped, screamed, then fell to the ground silent. The orange and black Growlithe on the man’s back pulled bloody fangs out of the man’s jugular vein. Tobias looked back, moving his eyes yet not his body. “But Kapu is an animal, and he doesn’t mind punishing you now, and he doesn’t mind sending you to Hell a bit early, because Kapu is an animal, and unlike me, perhaps he doesn’t have a conscience.”
Part Five-Rescue at Mt. Moon
Alexia crept along the walls of Mt. Moon. She had left her all too obvious Charizard outside of the cave, if she needed backup, then she had other pokemon she could use. Draco was just too visible and too big to wonder around in the small passages of Mt. Moon. Alexia breathed in as she looked down. She was on a very small cliff, looking down into a larger part of the tunnel. “Oh, I hate tight spaces.” Alexia murmured. She heard voices, and frantically she couched down into the shadows, hoping to hide and mix with them. She waited until they passed, then moved on.
“That looks like a good place to descend.” She told herself and started climbing down. She placed her foot on a small edge hanging out of the wall, when to her misfortune found out that it was not a very strong ledge. The earth crumbled beneath her weight and Alexia found herself tumbling down the wall. Trembling from her fall, she started to get up, and stared straight into the face of a team rocket member and a member of the Black Bandits. “Great, two of you together, you’re such a lovely couple.” Suddenly the rocket’s fist slammed into her face, and Alexia’s vision blurred, then she faded into a sea of blackness. Her last thought was, “I blew it.”
~ ~ ~
Tobias looked down into the hole of darkness. “Grooowlithe.” Kapu said, glancing down, then dancing nervously on his four paws. He gave an eager whine. “I don’t know Kapu, I always hated the short cuts.” He said. Of course he had already considered the possibilities on how to get into Mt. Moon. One of course was by the entrance, which was way too noticeable. In order to go by the entrance, he’d have to take out a few of the guards, and he did not want to bring attention to himself. The other of which he was not so fond of was the short cut, a hole about a mile away from the entrance. A very narrow hole with a very steep fall, so it was obvious as to why Tobias doubted his rational thoughts. “Oh well, as they say, beggars can’t be chosers, down the hatch!” Tobias disappeared down the hole. He fell into darkness and his hands reached out to grab something, but found only air. “Where are those damn handholds when you need them?” He asked himself as he fell, then he hit a sharp rock. “Oh there it is.” But he was not in time to catch himself and he continued to fall, then he hit the bottom.
Groaning, he propped himself up on his elbows. He rubbed his head, “The ground didn’t seem so far away from up there.” He commented. Suddenly something soft and furry hit his stomach and bounced off. “Lithe.” It whined. Tobias grunted and pushed the animal aside. “Kapu, you have to lose some weight.” Tobias got to his feet and lowered the hood of his cloak. He and Kapu walked slowly down the tunnel. Tobias ran his hand along the wall to help guide them through the tunnel, even though Kapu was doing fine on his own. Tobias reached the part where the cave widened out and stumbled, he caught himself on the wall, and stopped to listen for a moment. He heard voices. He looked down and strained his green eyes to peer through the darkness, he noticed a big red “R” on one of the shirts, and the other one had a black ski mask pulled over his head. “Holy shit, I didn’t know they worked together.” Tobias commented. He glanced down to the sheath on his side, the one that held the long piercing katana. Then he felt the poke-ball on his belt. There was another option. Then Tobias noticed what was between the two men. “Damn it, Alexia.”
~ ~ ~
Alexia slowly started coming to her senses as she was being drug down the rocky surface of one of many Mt. Moon tunnels. Her azure eyes searched the cave, but she still did not move. They might hurt her if they thought she was awake. Besides, her chances of escaping were much better when taken by surprise. The men hadn’t even noticed the poke-balls on her belt. She flexed her fingers slightly, getting them ready as she quickly formed a sketchy plan in her head. Suddenly she broke away from the men. One man lost his grip, but the Bandit held tight. But she only needed one hand. She grabbed a random poke-ball from her belt and pelted the Bandit in the face with it. The Bandit howled in pain, grabbing his nose. The poke-ball fell to the ground and bounced, then it fell open. The ball exploded in light, and a Nidorina fell out. It scratched its ears, then looked at the Bandit with disinterest. “Oh no!” Alexia cried. Nidorina happened to be her only pokemon that did not listen to her. She closed her eyes and prayed to God that Nidorina would listen to her just this once. The Rocket grabbed his own poke-ball just as the Bandit pinned both of Alexia’s arms behind her back. The Rocket threw his poke-ball and it opened in mid-air to show a Beedril flutter through the air.
“Nidorina, use your bite attack!” Alexia cried. Nidorina snorted. The Beedril flew towards the disobedient pokemon and shot a string shot at it. The sticky substance got into Nidorina’s fur, and her red eyes flashed in anger. Nidorina jumped up and used a fury swipes attack on Beedril, slashing furiously, one of its claws caught the Beedril’s left wing. The Beedril quit flying and fell to the ground. “Beedril, return!” The Rocket called his Beedril back. “Charmeleon, go!” The red lizard narrowed its eyes at Nidorina. “Flame-thrower!” The rocket ordered. Nidorina was engulfed into the flame. When the spitting fire retreated, Nidorina lay defeated on the ground. The Bandit held Alexia’s arms tight behind her back as she struggled against him. “Nidorina, no!” She cried. “Shut up.” The rocket growled, returning Nidorina to its poke-ball, and stripping away the other ball that lay on Alexia’s belt. “Give those back.” Alexia warned. “I said shut up.” Alexia narrowed her eyes. “Maybe you would be more polite if you someone removed that rod out of your butt.” The rocket turned and punched her in the face. She would have fallen backwards if the Bandit hadn’t been behind her. She fell into his chest, but the Bandit did not move at all. “Stupid bitch, I told you to shut your trap.” Alexia held back tears, the left side of her face began to swell an ugly blue and gray.
A bright flash of light lit the cave suddenly, forcing them all to shut their eyes. Alexia wondered where it was coming from. Than a dark figure walked through the brightness, and in that brightness Alexia’s heart flip flopped twice in a row. Tobias’s handsome features were refined by the light as he walked towards them. His green eyes were impassive as usual, and brown hair fell into his eyes even though the hood of his brown cloak covered most of his hair. “Tobias?” She asked. Why would he save her? Her eyes rolled down to his side where he clutched a long, nicely curved katana. Where was Kapu?
“Let her go.” Tobias said, emerald eyes staring out from the darkness of his hood. “Jolt jolt!” A demanding voice backed him up. Alexia understood where the light had come from now, it had been the Jolteon’s flash technique. The man holding Alexia chuckled a scratchy sounding laugh, as if he did not do it very often. “Or what?” he asked. Tobias said nothing, but turned to the other man, the one dressed in a Rocket uniform. Tobias was quick, he grabbed the man and turned him in his arms until he could hold the man by his neck, and in his other hand he held his long katana to the Rocket’s throat. Tobias spoke into the Rocket’s ear. “Tell your companion to let the girl go, or I shall take your life.” The Rocket stuttered, “L-let her go Brutus, h-he’s g-g-gonna kill me!” Brutus the Bandit, studied Tobias. “You won’t do it.” Tobias sighed, then brought the katana quickly against the rocket’s throat. The Rocket slumped to the ground, blood leaking out from his jugular vein. “I’m not here to play games, let her go, I’m not going to kill again.” The Bandit sneered. “Then why should I let her go if you aren’t going to hurt me?” He asked. Suddenly he screamed out as a black and orange blur rammed into him from behind. Alexia stumbled forward, and Tobias caught her by the arm. “Thanks.” She murmured. Tobias said nothing. “By the way, my name is Tobias.” He said. Alexia chuckled, he finally told her his name, and what a nice name to, Tobias.
The Bandit looked up from the floor. “I thought you said you weren’t going to hurt me.” He groaned. Alexia now understood where Kapu had gone. Tobias bent down so that he was level with the man’s face. “I didn’t, I don’t enjoy killing people, but animals don’t mind at all, especially this animal.” Then the man died as Kapu sank his teeth deep into the man’s throat, puncturing the jugular vein. Tobias grabbed Alexia’s hand. “Lets go!” He shouted and pulled her down the dark cave. “Jolteon, Kapu, lets go!” He shouted behind them. The two pokemon were fast behind his heels. Tobias grabbed a poke-ball off of his belt. “Jolteon, return!” He shouted as the red carrier-wave sucked Jolteon into its ball. Ahead Tobias was surprised to see day light spilling in through the cave, had he really spent so much time in this cave, that the night had passed already and the sun was slowly showing itself behind the receding mountains?
Tobias and Alexia fell out into the daylight, gasping for air and their chests heaving. “Hey!” A voice shouted. Tobias looked up to see four Team Rocket members guarding their exit. One reached for a gun, but Tobias knocked it out of his hand with his katana, cutting the man’s wrist. The man howled in pain, and then there was a roar of fury from above. Tobias and Alexia looked up to see Draco the Charizard flying overhead. “Tobias, take this.” Alexia said and suddenly shoved a poke-ball into her hands. “Huh?” He asked stupidly. Alexia smiled. “We’re gonna fly.”
Part 6-The Aerial Battle
Tobias studied the poke-ball in his hand. He looked towards Alexia, but she was...gone! “Lithe?” Kapu looked around for the blue-haired girl. The little Growlithe looked up and started barking frantically. Tobias glanced towards the sky to see Alexia grasping her Charizard’s body, and to see two of the four Rockets chasing her on a Fearow, and the other two Rockets mounting a Dragonite. The Dragonite flapped its wings and took off after Alexia and Draco. “Shit.” Tobias said. He threw Alexia’s poke-ball to the ground and started running after the two on the Dragonite, but Kapu grabbed his cloak with his teeth. “What Kapu?” He turned and gasped. “Pidgeeeeot!” The pokemon said. It had came from Alexia’s poke-ball. The bird lowered itself so he could climb on its back. “Alexia has a Pidgeot?” He asked himself. He jumped on the Pidgeot’s back, and Kapu hopped up into his lap. The Pidgeot flapped its wings, and soon they were rising up into the air as well. “Pidgeot, head towards the Dragonite first!” He shouted. The bird nodded and they flew towards the men and Dragonite. The Rockets turned and saw Tobias, one of them was the one with the cut wrist.
“Dragonite, use your dragon rage on that dumb bird!” The first Rocket shouted. The Dragonite nodded, then turned and let out a blue fiery substance towards Pidgeot. Tobias felt the attack hit and hung on to the bird for dear life as it twirled through the air. The Rockets cackled with laughter when Tobias almost fell off. Determination swept through his body, and with his cloak flapping behind him he made Pidgeot fly towards Dragonite again. “Use your whirl wind attack!” Tobias commanded. Pidgeot snapped its beak, then started flapping its wings rapidly towards Dragonite. Strong winds started to blow the dragon and its riders off course. Dragonite tried to flap against the wind, but it wasn’t used to forced wind like this, storm winds were a breeze, but these winds were harsh and forceful. The Dragonite finally gave up the fight and fell backwards. It started plummeting towards the ground. “Kapu, fire blast!” He shouted. He held Kapu in the air and the small dog erupted with fire towards Dragonite. The now charred Dragonite and the men on it fell like a rock. There was a distinct thud sound as they hit the ground. Tobias brought Kapu back on Pidgeot. “Good job pal, good job Pidgeot.” Pidgeot turned and started flapping slowly towards Alexia. Tobias’ mouth fell open at the sight. Alexia was definitely a girl who could take care of herself. Tobias set his eyes on her as she battled the two Rockets on top of the Fearow.
“Draco, use your fire spin!” Alexia commanded as she and her Charizard circled around the two Rockets and their Fearow. The Charizard roared and fire span from his mouth in a circular motion. The small tornado of fire swept around the Fearow and its trainers. The Fearow squawked, then used its fury swipes on Draco. It started slashing out with its talons at Draco. The big Charizard snorted in pain, and waited for Alexia’s next command. The Fearow shot out again but Alexia made Charizard fly up and out of the way. “Flame-thrower!” She cried out. Draco nodded and let a roar of fire escape his jaws. It roared down and roasted the bird. The Fearow and its riders fell back in the wind and Alexia held Draco back as Tobias flew up behind them. He threw a poke-ball and yelled “Jolteon, go!” The ball opened in mid-air, and then a ball of yellow spikes was falling towards the two men on Fearow. It opened itself like a parachute when it neared them, and landed in one of the men’s lap. “Huh?” He asked, then it said, “Jolteeeeeeon!” The Jolteon’s fur crackled, then it exploded with electricity. The Fearow squawked in pain, then fell towards the ground. Tobias held out Jolteon’s poke-ball. “Return!” He shouted over the squawking Fearow and screaming men. The red beacon of light surrounded Jolteon, and zapped it back to its poke-ball. Tobias pulled Pidgeot up next to Alexia. “We have to destroy this base.” He said. Alexia nodded, causing a blue strand of hair to fall into her face. Tobias stared at her for a moment, until Kapu softly nipped him. Alexia and Tobias both turned away, and under the hood of his cloak, Tobias blushed.
Suddenly Pidgeot gave a small chirp of pain and stopped flapping its wings, then slowly started at a nosedive towards the ground. Tobias glanced at Pidgeot’s wing as he held on for dear life. It had been hit pretty hard by the Dragonite. Tobias felt his heart leap up into his throat. This was it, after all this time, he was going to die by impact, well at least he could say that the Bandits or the Rockets never got him. Suddenly Alexia’s voice broke through the wind pounding in his ears. “Pidgeot return, hold on Tobias!” Pidgeot disappeared from under him and Tobias starter flailing his arms through the air, not that it did much good. Kapu was falling next to him, and Tobias heard the little dog’s yelps. “Get Kapu!” Alexia called. Tobias grabbed Kapu. The ground was nearing closer, and Tobias could even make out the faces of the men that had hit the ground during the battle. Tobias felt sick, he hoped it did not hurt as bad as it looked. Tobias took a deep breath, the ground was nearing closer, and then suddenly...he stopped. Tobias glanced up, and there was Alexia, seated on Draco. Her face was strained as she struggled to hold on to Tobias’ boot. Tobias let a sigh of relief, then, Alexia’s fingers slipped and Tobias fell to his doom...one foot down from Alexia’s hand. Tobias rubbed his head. “You need to work on that grip.” He complained. Alexia giggled. “Sorry, I couldn’t keep my hold.” Tobias blue a strand of brown hair out of his eyes. Alexia took his hand and pulled him up on Draco. “Now hold on to my waist so you don’t fall off.” She warned. Kapu crawled in front of Alexia. “Traitor.” Tobias grumbled. Alexia turned. “Come on, hold onto my waist, do you want to fall off again?” She demanded. Tobias hesitantly put his hands on her waist. “Hold on tight, tighter than that silly!” Tobias wished he had his hood on, because his face had just blushed a crimson red.
Ten Minutes later the team was flying away from the scene, leaving nothing but the Mt. Moon Base smoking and in destruction is their mist.
Part Seven-Giovanni the Strong
The blades were drawn down on the office, leaving only small slits for the sunlight to peek through. The room itself is huge, with a huge leather chair and a desk in the middle of the room, and assorted furniture here and there spread nicely about. A wine bar sat in one corner of the room, a half filled champagne glass stood in its place quietly, waiting for movement in the room before it dare tremble and splash its contents.
At the desk, and slouched down in the leather chair, a man sits with his head rested in his hands as he is lost in his own thoughts. The room is absolutely quiet except for the tick tocking of the clock over the miniature bar. The man rocks slowly back and forth in time to the clock, and at last a loud knock at the door disrupts the over-whelming silence. “Pardon me, I hate to disrupt you, sir.” A voice says nervously. The man glanced over, his secretary was looking in. “What is it? I told you not to bother me while I’m in deep thought.” He snarled. The secretary backed up a bit. “You have two visitors, sir, shall I send them away?” The man thought for a moment, decided Screw it, my concentration has been disrupted anyway. Its time for a little fun. “No, send them in, I’ll see them.” Two figures in black cloaks entered. One with dazzling red hair bent before him on one knee and her fist placed on the ground before her. The second figure with spiky black hair and slitted eyes knelt next to the red head.
The one with the spiky hair and slitted eyes spoke first. “Your Greatness, I have some troubling news.” He said in a calm voice. The man sat back, a slightly amused expression on his face. “I’m listening.” He said. The red head spoke up. “We have two new rebels that have shown up and foiled the plans for our most recent raids on Pewter City, Viridian City, Celadon City, and Pallet Town. They were separate, but after a recent attack on the base in Mt. Moon, we have learned from a rather unfortantuate survivor that they have joined forces.” The man listened carefully. He turned to the spiky haired figure. “Brock, Pewter City is your patrolling area is it not?” The man asked. The spiky haired man identified as Brock started to sweat. “Y-yes Your Greatness. But I-” “But what? Your gym is there, you should be there. Where were you?” The man demanded. “I-I was with a girl, Your Greatness.” The man sneered. “A girl?! If you had been there perhaps the death of rockets and bandits alike could have been spared, and maybe, just maybe we would have completed the raid. But where were you? You were off with a girl! Brock I find this unacceptable.” Brock looked terrified now. “I’m s-sorry Y-your Greatness. It won’t happen again.” The man bent down towards Brock. “No it won’t, because you won’t be alive to screw things up.” He said calmly. Then the man reached his hand down and grabbed Brock’s neck. Brock gasped in terror, but it quickly ended as Giovanni snapped his neck. Brock fell to the ground with a big thump. The man turned towards the red head. “Misty, I’ll assume that you have a plan to stop these rebels?” The woman nodded. “Yes sir. Some worry that the boy is the legend coming back to life.” The man narrowed his eyes. The legend. The one to oppress all evil. But inside a boy? “And what are you going to do about it?” He asked the water gym leader. Misty looked up with cold blue eyes. “I figure he can’t be the legend, if he isn’t alive to fulfill the prophecy, am I right, Lord Giovanni?”
Giovanni smirked. “Good Misty, good.” Misty stood up. “May I be excused Your Greatness?” She asked. “Get out.” Giovanni ordered. Misty nodded, gave a small bow, then left with her black cape flapping behind her. As soon as the doors shut, Misty looked at the doors. “The kid won’t be a problem, Giovanni is too strong to be stopped, even if the prophecy is fulfilled.”
Part Eight: The League Underground and Alexia’s Recollections
The orange Charizard flew hastily over the mountain range, large wings flapping easily through the evening air. They had been flying for a while now, and beyond the jagged mountains the sun was slowly melting into darkness. Tobias sighed as he and Alexia flapped on through the night. His emerald eyes were glazed over, and his thoughts were trained on that terrible night…his mother lying helpless on the floor, his father dead, and him sitting tied to the chair, useless. Perhaps that feeling of being useless was what had made him become what he was. Tobias narrowed his eyebrows, and what exactly was he? A murderer, or a savior? Was he in the right when he killed bandits and rockets? He had no idea. His soft brown hair fell into his eyes, and he made no move to blow it away as he usually did. “Cerulean City right ahead!” Alexia announced, jolting Tobias out of his thoughts. He glanced up. The small town was cloaked in darkness as it slept. “We had better land outside of it.” Tobias said. Alexia nodded. “Great idea, Toby.” Alexia said. “Don’t ever call me that!” Tobias shouted so loud and angrily that he scared even himself. Alexia looked at him, stunned. A solitary tear ran down her delicate cheek. His parents used to call him Toby, and to hear the words from Alexia’s mouth reminded him of his mother. Tobias looked away quickly, feeling tears swell up in his own eyes. Alexia considered him for a moment, and for a slight moment, Alexia saw a little boy, a scared little boy. Then, as though it had been nothing but an illusion, the look of child-like innocence vanished, and the hard, impassive face of Tobias returned. Alexia wiped the tear from her cheek, and instructed Draco to land on the outskirts of Cerulean City. The large Charizard snorted a reply then soared towards the ground.
Once on the ground, Alexia recalled Draco to his poke-ball, he was awfully large, and she feared he might attract attention. Kapu staid with Tobias his large round ears listening intently to sounds hiding in the night. “Lets find a place to make camp.” Tobias said. Alexia said nothing, and Tobias sensed she was still hurt when he had snapped at her about his name. He wanted to say something, but he was not sure on how to do it. Giving a low sigh, he pulled his hood over his head, and began to trudge through the thick overgrowth to find a place to camp. Alexia followed silently behind. His footsteps echoed as they crunched on dry leaves and weeds. He almost tripped on an upturned root, but he managed to stop himself in time. However, when he stopped, he still heard footsteps. Tobias looked behind him. Tobias noticed his pendent was glowing before he asked, “Alexia did you-“ He started to ask, then he ducked as a fist swung over his head. “Kapu!” He shouted. Tobias glanced around, but the tiny Growlithe was nowhere in sight. “Looking for this?” A gruff voice asked. Tobias glanced to his left where a rather large figure in a gray trench coat held up a limp Kapu. The little dog’s head was slumped to the side, blood was staining his fur. “Kapu!” Tobias gasped. Tobias jumped backwards as a fist from his other opponent took another swing at him. How could someone have taken them off guard like that? Kapu was usually very good about making sure that they were safe. Tobias crouched down and swung at the man’s ankles with one foot. The man jumped up and landed with an elbow in Tobias’ back. Tobias cried out in pain, but grabbed the man’s foot and pulled it out from under him. The man fell heavily to the ground. Tobias jumped up and unsheathed his katana, but a heavy black boot much like his own slammed into his stomach. He fell to the ground and rolled, gasping in pain and trying frantically to catch his breath. A big hand pulled his hood off and picked Tobias up by the collar of his cloak. “Why, he’s nothing but a boy.” The man said. Looking up, Tobias could see the man was clothed in a black trench coat as well, and by getting a better look Tobias could see the man looked a lot like Lt. Surge. He threw Tobias roughly to the ground. A heavy boot came to rest on his back. Tobias began to lift himself to his feet, but the heavy boot pushed him back towards the ground, and his strength gave out. Tobias hit the ground, and a swirling sea of blackness began to raid his mind, then his body became limp, and Lt. Surge laughed. “Out like a light.”
Tobias regained his senses slowly. He opened one eye, and took a quick survey of the room. The room was damp, with vines growing and stretching across the grimy brick walls. Tobias sat up, and his head swam with dizziness. Slowly he got up, there was another person in the room. Pain rushed to his head and Tobias stumbled, then slumped back against the brick wall of his cell. “You’re awake.” A voice said. Tobias glanced to the side. “Where’s Alexia?” he asked immediately. “Alexia?” The voice thought for a moment. “You must mean the blue haired girl. She’s in a separate cell, you must like her.” Tobias snapped his head up. “What makes you think that?” He asked hastily. “She was the first thing you asked about, and you mumbled her name in your sleep.” Tobias blushed furiously. “I just..have to protect….her…that’s all.” He said defensively. The voice was quiet again. “Where’s Kapu?” Tobias inquired. “My, you ask a lot of questions. Who’s Kapu?” Tobias searched for the dragon pendent in his shirt, but it was not there, his cloak was missing, as well as his katana. “Kapu is a Growlithe, and where’s my stuff?” Tobias demanded. “Again I make the point that you ask many questions.” Tobias sighed, frustrated. All he wanted was answers. “I may ask a lot of questions but you do a good job of avoiding answers.” He snapped. “Where are we anyway?” No answer. Anger rushed through Tobias’ body, and he punched the wall angrily. Blood began to run down his knuckles like a winding stream. “Punching bricks will not fix your problems.” The voice said coldly. “It will however crack your knuckles.” Tobias began to lean against the bar, and the voice suddenly shouted, “No don’t!” But it was too late. Tobias’ hands had gripped the bars. A sudden jolt rushed through his hands, and Tobias was thrown back against the wall with extreme force. “The bars are electrified...makes escape harder.” The voice explained. Tobias coughed. Groaning, he lifted himself to his feet. “Listen, what is this all about? Are you a rocket or what? I demand some answers.” Tobias said angrily. “No, I am not a rocket, nor a bandit.” Tobias was confused. “Then why are you taking me, Kapu and Alexia captive?” The voice laughed. “You were lurking around Cerulean City late at night. Are you trying to tell me that you aren’t a rocket planning a raid?” Now it was Tobias who laughed. “Me? Plan a raid? On Bandits and Rockets maybe, but never on the city itself. That would kind of ruin my image.” He joked. The voice was inquiring now. “Your image?” Tobias sighed. “My name is Tobias, I fight for the innocent people of the world. I guess I am a rebel of some sort.” The voice was amused. “Yes, I have heard of Tobias, but according to the stories I heard, he is seven feet tall and is a handsome 20 year old with a Growlithe that has jaws of steel.” Tobias almost touched the bars of his cell again, but stopped himself. “What? Were you talking to a group of girls? Sounds like something they would say.” The voice chuckled. “Actually, it was a young group of girls that I heard about Tobias.” Tobias groaned. Leave it to a girl to get things messed up. “Well, I am, Tobias I travel with a Growlithe, isn’t there a resemblance between me and the stories? Don’t I get to prove myself innocen-” Tobias stopped. Something had just occurred to him. ‘Wait a minute, if you arrest rockets and bandits that would mean...” He trailed off, could it be? He often heard the people in town talking about them, but he had never actually seen them. “The...League Underground?” He asked uncertainly. “Smart boy, maybe you are Tobias after all, but we’ll know in a short matter of time.”
The day progressed on, and Tobias drifted in and out of sleep. Finally, Tobias was guessing it was late at night, someone else entered the room where his cell was. “So he claims he is Tobias?” A male voice asked the other voice. Tobias listened from inside of his cell. Now that he thought about it, the other voice that had been with him all day sounded a lot like a girl. He leaned against the wall. “So how will we find out if he is really Tobias?” The female voice asked. “Blood test of course.” The male voice replied. “By matching his blood to the blood we found in Pewter City?” Tobias lunged at the bars, careful not to touch them. “You weren’t at Pewter City!” He exclaimed madly. “I was there, where were you?” he demanded. The two voices ignored him. “Yes, that’s the plan. If he is who he claims to be we could use his help.” The voices talked on and Tobias just blocked them. He slumped to the ground, his back against the wall, the coldness of its soaking through his thin white tee shirt. His thoughts wondered to Kapu, he hoped they were treating him all right. Alexia, he hoped she was okay too. “I shouldn’t have yelled at her...” He whispered to himself. He tugged at his loose black pants in deep thought. Next time he saw her he would apologize for being so harsh. It was an honest mistake, how was she supposed to know not to call him Toby. A small voice in the back of his head said, Maybe she would know if you trusted her enough to tell her about your past. Tobias sighed, in a way, he knew the voice was right, but then he thought, “What do I know about her past?” He sighed heavily and leaned his head back against the wall.
“You there, boy.” The male voice said. “What do you want?” Tobias said, irritation showing in his voice. “I’ve got to take a blood sample.” He said. Tobias stuck his arm out. “Go ahead, you won’t find anything unusual about it, except that it’s mine.” He said with annoyance. “Turn the electricity off.” The male voice commanded. Tobias thought, Stupid, never let your guard down! The man grabbed Tobias’ arm and began to inject a needle. For a moment, Tobias considered yanking his arm to his right and watching the man writhe in pain as he held him against the bars, but his common sense also said, Baka, where would that get you? Tobias made no move to do anything to the very vulnerable man as he drew blood. The man finally stopped, ordered the electrical bars back on, then left the room with a vile full of Tobias’ blood. From in his cell Tobias scowled. “I hope they’re treating Alexia better than they are me.”
~ ~ ~
Alexia lie on the bunk in her cell. Her mind was on Tobias. She wondered what had happened to him to make him so bitter. Then again, she probably had not helped much, she did pressure him a lot, and she had called him Toby...still was that any reason to snap at her so much? If only he would open up to her...then again, she had not opened up to him.
Her past was a mystery to even herself. She did not remember where she came from, who her parents were, who her friends were, or even if she had siblings or not. All she could remember was that little piece of anger that swallowed her tub of kindness for so long, the anger that had consumed her own heart to make her part of the resistance towards Giovanni. With her anger and dislike came the will to get rid of Giovanni. It was that time that she knew she was helpless to do anything until she had some fire power. And then one day, she found it. A small crimson egg in a nest of flame. A mother Charizard fighting to save her baby’s life. The mother had fought well, charging and blasting Team Rocket and the Black Bandits that had raided its nest. Of course, the Charizard lost to the armored pokemon that the Bandits and Rockets had, then torched the nest. Alexia felt the pool of anger in her bubble higher. Team Rocket and the Black Bandits had sunken so low to try and kill something that had barely come to live. She had jumped through the flame, risking serious burns to her arms, but using her shirt to help her get through it. Alexia had retrieved the small crimson egg and ran back out through the fire. For the next few weeks she had nursed the egg and kept it warm, then her day had come, the egg hatched. Alexia found herself caring for a small defenseless charmander. Seeing it so defenseless only sparked what little past she had to come to life. She was hard on it, forcing it to train everyday until finally it learned its strong attacks. It obeyed her every single command, but deep inside, Alexia knew it thought of her as its mother. Alexia knew that it needed to be nurtured, loved and cared for, and took care of it she did, but she was not as keen when it came to nurturing. One of her proudest moments came when Draco helped her to catch a very strong Pidgey. Draco had almost lost...but then a miracle happened, he began to glow. As a Charmeleon Draco fought and weakened the Pidgey enough for Alexia to catch it. Alexia traveled onwards. Not long after a Nidorina appeared. Wild pokemon were so rare in such times of hardship, that Alexia knew she must not waste the chance. She had sent her Pidgey out first, who fought well and bravely. It had used its wings to its full advantage, but as a Pidgey, it knew it would not win. Her second pokemon evolved, and a Pidgeotto took place of her Pidgey. Then Draco teamed up with Pidgeotto, and they caught Nidorina. The only problem with her newly caught pokemon was that it refused to obey her. One day she came upon a Team Rocket member. In a fierce battle that they were on the verge of losing, Draco evolved to his final and ultimate form. Alexia could not help but beam with pride. Then together...they killed the rocket, and as they walked away Alexia whispered to the dead body, “That was for his mother, I’ll see you in hell.” One day as she was looking at a map, and planning on visiting Celadon City, Draco nudged her. Looking at the large Charizard in confusion, she suddenly understood. Climbing on his back, Alexia flew to Celadon faster than she could have ever got there walking. It was a good thing too, because when she got there the city was already being destroyed. Furiously they fought, even Nidorina, and her Pidgeotto even evolved to Pidgeot. Her heart full of victory the Bandits and Rockets fled. It was there, that she heard of Tobias.
Tobias, a soul so much like her own. Her heart of darkness drained and goodness filled it again. She did not have to suffer alone anymore, this Tobias character would surely help her, help save her from her own anger. She had rushed Draco to the last place Tobias had been seen. There she saw that he had needed her help, and she was more than glad to give it to him. When he had awoke though, in the woods near Mt. Moon, he met her only with darkness and anger. Alexia’s heart and hopes shattered. She refused to go back to her old self, her old anger-filled self. Seeing Tobias reminded her of what she must have been like, and she did not like the way she had been. She started petting Draco more and showing that she loved him. Draco of course did not mind at all. Swearing to never go back to that hard and impassive girl, Alexia continued on without Tobias. Then he saved her from the Bandits and Rockets in the cave, and Alexia knew her feelings for him were not false. Somewhere in that hard and impassive face, was a vulnerable, kind, lonely little boy, and she intended to show him just how much she cared.
Snapping out of her doze of memories, Alexia looked around. Someone was sitting near the bars of her cell. “You were sleeping, I did not wish to wake you.” The voice said. Alexia sat up, feeling foolish. Alexia found herself looking at a beautiful woman dressed in a gray trench coat. She had long black hair and beautiful purple eyes. “My name is Sabrina, and I am part of the League Underground. I have been informed to escort you to our meeting hall.” She said in a friendly voice. Alexia just nodded. The electric bars flashed off and Alexia stepped out. “Mr. Tobias has requested that we release you.” Sabrina handed Alexia her things. Alexia snapped the three poke-balls back on her belt and reattached the poke-ball necklace around her neck. As they walked down a long corridor Alexia was silent, but one question invaded her mind. “Are all of the gym leaders in the League Underground?” She asked Sabrina smiled at her. “Some of us are, some of us work for Giovanni, most of us...are dead...” Alexia looked shocked. “Blaine, Agatha, Lance, Bruno, and Erika.” Sabrina brushed away a tear. “All dead. Lorelei, Lt. Surge, and I are with the League Underground. And Misty, Brock, and Koga all work for Giovanni.” Sabrina said sadly. Alexia bowed her head. “I’m...sorry to hear that.” She said. Sabrina patted her on the back. “Hopefully this damn war will end, and happy times will follow its death.” Sabrina smiled, but Alexia’s mind was still on the murdered gym leaders.
Tobias sat in the room with his eyes closed. Kapu was at his feet, panting from the heat of the room. The dragon pendent rested around each of their necks; back in their rightful places. Around him sat various members of the League Underground, Lt. Surge sat at one end of the table, Lorelei was at the head of the table. Their were other people Tobias did not know scattered about the table, but he assumed them of importance or they would not be here. The door opened, and Sabrina appeared with Alexia behind her. As soon as the girl with the big blue eyes and bright blue hair saw him, she rushed forward with a happy cry of, “Tobias!” She threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly. Tobias found himself hugging her back. His strong arms embraced her and his head leaned on her shoulder. Inside, he could feel his heart beating rapidly. The hood of his cloak had been pushed back and his brown hair was hanging over his eyes. “Alexia…” He said, then opening his eyes and seeing the eyes staring at them from around the room, they awkwardly broke apart. Alexia sat down next to Tobias, and the meeting began.
“First off, we would like to apologize to you Tobias. The blood tests show that the blood type collected from Pewter City match your blood, proving that you are indeed, no enemy of ours. Second off, we’d like to discuss with you, our master plan…
