To Control Time

Parker places an anxious hand
upon the winding clock
and forces time to stop.
Now his worries of the future
no longer exist because
they are frozen like the clock's hands.
Nothing bad can happen now,
But neither can anything good.
Dwelling on this split second,
Parker finds himself bored.

So he decides to turn the hands
backwards, backwards, backwards --
so far into the past
where he can erase all that ever went wrong.
But by the time he gets there,
all the good things in life are omitted too,
and meanwhile he forgets
everything he'd learned
in all the time he'd lived
before he turned it back to start.
