The pain of not knowing
and what I do to myself
to avoid facing reality --
when I don't know whether it exists --
is pain that causes
a misplaced reaction.
Sometimes I want to scream
when I haven't yet been stabbed.
But sometimes I think not screaming
is driving the knife into myself.
