My Friend's Suicide
I wrote this when I was Alicia Byrd. Byrd was my first married name.

My Friend's Suicide
In Memory of Dean Griseto

Too many problems for us to see,
You thought, "It is hard to be me!"
If we had known,
before you went on that long ride,
then there would have been,
no tears for us to have cried.
It was too late for us,
to show you that we care.
Life's very hard, we know,
too bad you couldn't let your problems show.
It is too late, we know this too.
But I'll never forget you, and
the joy you shared.
Would it have made a difference
if you knew we cared?
The unanswered questions,
mainly the question, Why?,
as the tears did cry.
it will all be better in the end, my dear friend.

There is one-Dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ
There is one-Dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ

There is one who goes before me,
he says he can see my life,
so not to worry.
My life is in hands,
just like in the story,
Footprints in the Sand.
There is always one going out before me,
he went before me on the tree.
He loves us for who we are,
and is never far from you and me.
There is one who loves me so perfectly,
and is the greatest part of me.
There is one who knows my future and my past,
who knows the tears I've cried and the joy.
He is always there when you need him,
just to show you he cares.
He is always there to share anything with you,
he is Jesus Christ, Our Lord,
the only one we need in this world.

Their Eyes
Their Eyes
Dedicated to My beautiful daughters Hannah and Michaela

In their eyes, I see
the joy and innocence of life,
because, in their smiles,
is where my heart lies.
In their eyes,I see no worries,
a peaceful life,
where no one has to hurry.
In their eyes,
I see no prejudices,
no hate or anything ugly,
and that makes me so happy,
more than you will ever know.
In their eyes,
I see the endless love
I have for you,
and you will never know,
just how true it is.
In their eyes, peace, joy, and love abound,
and these are the
greatest feelings I have ever found.

Remember The Columbia Crew
Remember the Columbia Crew 2/1/04

A year ago today,
your lives disintegrated away.
While we were celebrating a life,
people were mourning the loss of yours.
Why did you have to go,
did anyone know or care,
how it would hurt your loved ones so?,
What were your thoughts at the last minute,
did a quick flash of your pasts
go through your minds?
Did you think of the pain,
that your friends and family would find?
I'm sure you would wish to be here today,
and, boy we wish there was a way,
but, for what it's worth,
we are thankful to you.
Thank you for the lives you lived,
and thank you for going to space,
to make this country a better place
for all of us.
