Cassandra Walton

Both Indigo and Cassandra Walton are featured as "Love Poets" on the CD "Love According 2 Love." "A celebration of "the good side of love, because there ain't no bad." Love poetry skillfully and sensuously recited over smooth neo-soul with touches of hip hop and jazz music." See http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lovepoets where you can listen to example tracks by each of them and then can buy the CD. All three hosts interweave their poetry, their wonderful sense of humor and their spirituality into a true community at Rozays Cafe where they host The Poetic Groove and invite both the audience and the poets to participate and always leave with a smile.

Here's Cassandra's bio: Cassandra M. Walton is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and has been a resident of the Bay Area nearly 15 years. Cassandra is a respected “Word Artist” in the San Francisco Bay Area. She gained additional public notoriety with the release of the popular poetry and jazz CD called "LOVE ACCORDING 2 LOVE" by the love poets, a group she helped to found in 2001. Cassandra has worked with some of the primary poets of the Bay Area and she is co-host of a weekly program for new and experienced poets alike in Oakland, California. The program is called The Poetic Groove and has itself become a local hot spot for up and coming poets from both the East and West Bay communities. Presently Cassandra is working on a book of poetry and a CD titled “i speak, i speak”. On most Wednesdays, Cassandra’s poetry can be heard at the Jahva House in Oakland. In addition, among the significant highlights of her Spoken Word career, Cassandra was recently honored as the specially invited poet of the Bay Area to perform for the Consul General of Japan of San Francisco and his guest for the official Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of U.S./Japan Friendship. For this event she appeared with the renown Pianist and Recording Artist Ricardo Scales. She has also made several appearances on local radio and television programs. There are even more credits and performances for this new age artist who prefers to be known simply as, Cassandra. She has performed at such venues as: "Ladies In Red", a production of DeVoine Entertainment; "Spoken Word Against Violence," performed for San Francisco's Police "Officers for Justice" regional event; one of the lead performers for the hit play "Oaktown Blue" written by Avotcja; received the Northern California Writers Award for the "The Circle of Writers Conference"; and performed at Harambe's annual event for artists with disabilities.
