Name:  Velimir Jelinic
BornVictoria, Australia
Date5th August 1968
ProfessionEngineer. Writer.

Australian born and bred, raised on a tobacco farm in the upper reaches of the beautiful Kiewa Valley in Victoria.

My parents emmigrated from Europe during the 60's, like hundreds of thousands of other people from all nationalities, when Australia opened it's doors to 'populate or perish'.
They took advantage of a policy that the Australian Government put into effect to enrich the fledgling continent with people and much sought after skilled labour.   The same policy that has brought many diverse cultures and flavours (Italian, Greek, Czech, Croatian, Serbian, Yugoslav, Pole, Bulgarian, Spanish, Turk, German, Austrian, Hungarian and many others)  together to form a national Australian identity that the world over admires.
I went to a country school in Tangambalanga for 7 years and then to secondary school in the rural city of Wodonga before joining the Royal Australian Air Force at the age of 17 and fullfilling my childhood ambition.
I left the Air Force after 10 years of service and turned a new page in my life embarking on a civilian career in Telecommunications Engineering, inadvertently setting me on a journey that has lead me to places far beyond any expectation that I could have hoped for.

'samo jedno mjesto na svijetu se zove dom'

I've grown tired of wandering like a homeless nomad, I don't seem to be able to 'fit-in' to any of the countries that I have resided in. Perpetually a foreigner, never being able to be fully accepted into any culture or mentality.

My days are solitary, those that I love are not near me or have drifted away from what had once attracted them. My time now is filled with cafes and colleagues. Much of the input I utilise comes from my past and the daily struggle with my own thoughts.
Life is a beautiful thing when it can be shared with someone, it can still be beautiful when you are on your own, but it is a painful place when you are alone in this world.
Some of us are luckier than others, some of us don't need walk alone.

Enjoy what you find here,  I hope you like what you find.
