Hardly Ever

I was there . . . mostly alone
You were hardly ever to be found
As so many times before
Once again, once again
The waiting fueled an anticipation
A breaking upon a jetty of collapse
Letting in glimpses to one day wash away
As the wind sweeps the sand
The footprints fading with its breath
And I slept
And I sleep
Hidden within memories of what never really was
But all the while I still grow
Stronger for the time spent
Wasted for the time spent
Alone for the time spent
Regretting the time spent
For I was there
But, you hardly ever were
