Dead-End
Within the heartbeat of a lifetime,
A wind carries past the senses
Thought determined to stay,
And now found sorrowful and waning.
A soul tinctured and aroused to laughter,
To put on the pedestal of primordial virtue,
The towering effect felt near
To the heart, the mind, the body.
Its flame flickers in fleeting retreats,
Yet return, undiminished, to eyes forever cast upward
To a heavenly glow, a glance unspoken,
A moment of sorrow turned to joy.
The new cold chill before the bitter onset,
Once eased and comforted, but now
Chills the heart to the bitter cold
Leaving the need for warmth wanting closure.
This time now, the bad taste it has settled,
Brings to mind past sensations to driving madness,
At the hand of one's self, uncontrolled,
And tortured by the mind, a heart fighting back.
Just to get through and get beyond
To the final trail wanted to embrace,
Though a dead-end it may be,
At which a dead-end it may be.
