As far as my poetry is concerned I’m no great poet, though I’ve been told I’m pretty good by quite a few people. It’s not that I’m into poetry, or any of the great Poets. Keats? Is he (she?) one of them? Sounds familiar. My favorite Poet is Jewel. I read her book because I liked her lyrics and found her style to be very similar to mine. I just write because for me it’s a release. It all started in the summer of `98 at the urging of a friend. Seemed like I had a knack for it so I kept at it. Putting this site together I went through the some 300 poems I had written since, and what I came up with as my personal best are presented here. A lot of my writings were not very good. That doesn’t make me any less proud of them. Everything I write I feel is a part of me at that time coming out onto paper, whether it sucks, or not. I save everything (a pack-rat at heart) and have quite a bit in my WIP folder.
One thing about me is that sometimes I go for shock value, which is why you shouldn’t always take me too seriously. A lot of times I’ll say or do things just to see people’s reactions, and often go too far. Then I back off for a while, then pounce again, unexpectedly. Some of my poetry shouldn’t be taken too seriously as well. One, for example is "The Misfortunate", which I wrote only to see what would happen if I tried to write something of that nature. I think it worked wonderfully, but I am not that guy in the poem, whatsoever.
Even though I've catagorized my poems there is some overlapping in that some poems fit into more than one catagory, so you'll find some duplications. Also, the poems are presented in each catagory by the ealiest to the latest. I think you can get a feel for how my style evolved. I think they've even grown in strength in that the early ones can be sort of weak. Well, you be the judge of that.
