I sit here watching the beginning of "Saving Private Ryan" and wonder why I am watching it again. I guess we make and watch realistic movies to remind us of a greater force that is uncontrollable. The preface to the movie mentions this is a tribute. But as I watch, I am more convinced it is a reminder that our lives are fleeting. During the precious time we do have, it is up to us to manifest our life into something extraordinary. I truly believe the word extraoridnary to be very subjective. We cannot all save our country or become president but we can all make our immediate lives and those of whom we love into a cherished patchwork of strength, faith, triumph within adversity, love of family...the list is endless.

I am reminded by events attended this week that everyday counts. Everyday is another opportunity to attempt to right a wrong, to be kind, graceful, and strong, and to at least take the FIRST step towards achieving goals and dreams. I hope in my last moments I can say, as Dennis, Sr. did, that I have experienced everything I wanted.

It has been a sad and heartwrenching week.
