Blue Bay Cabana

My apologies to all, this came to me at a way too relaxed state, and as goofy as it may come across, it would not die until I wrote it. I had to share, because I hate to be alone in my insanity. My humblest apologies to Barry Manilow, for corrupting your song. I do not own the rangers, the song, and I'm not really sure I want to claim that I own this idea. ;)

Cam sat perplexed as he sat at the computer screen. He was still coming down off of the love potion, even though it had been a week. He was still sifting through his feelings, finding out which ones were real and which ones were generated by the love potion fantasy. He had always felt warmly towards Tori, but he had never thought of even flirting with her, let alone asking her out. He was glad that Blake and Tori were somehow hammering out a relationship, though it was painful to watch them at it. Painful, not because he wished it was him, because neither of them seemed to have a clue how to go about it. Maybe Ratwell and his potion was fate’s way of kicking them in the butt and getting them in gear. Cam had to smile when that thought occurred to him. He stared at the screen a little longer, and licked the remainder of chicken grease from his lips, as he glanced at the empty chicken box. Ordering chicken will never be the same, nor will drinking a smoothie. Nope, going to have to lay off the smoothies, for a year at least. Some data flashed across the screen. He had received an email, source unknown. He ran the virus scan and it came back clean. He was just about to hit delete, when curiosity took over. There was an attachment, it was a streamline video. He launched a program to track the origin of the email, and clicked on the attachment.

Seconds after loading, a familiar classic tune began. Cam cringed and began to kill the video, before he found he was sorry. Just as the mouse race across the screen, he heard a holler from behind him. Cam turned his head to Dustin to acknowledge him.

“Sweet! What’s that Cam? Didn’t know you liked Manilow! Is that a video? I saw a video to this once. But that’s not how it began.”

Cam’s hand froze as he turned back to the screen. Images of of the rangers entering storm chargers filled the panel. He was saying something to Tori as Hunter, Shane and Dustin trailed off to see the newly arriving girls to their seats. It was déjà vu, set to Manilow.

“Sweet! You rock, Cam! Hey, guys! Cam made a video of our recent adventure! Come see, quick!”

“Dustin, I didn’t…”

Shane, Tori, Blake, and Hunter streaked in just as a voice broke into the music, sounding like a cross between Manilow and Sinatra. It couldn’t get any cheesier, Cam told himself.

“Her name is Tori, she is a Ranger
With blue bangles on her wrist, and her hair done in a twist
She enjoys surfing and being ninja
And while she gets into her groove, Blake watches every move
They practice in the woods, he thinks she’s getting good
They are young and they like each other
Ask her out, he should”

“Okay, this is bad, Cam, real bad.” Blake shook his head. “Make it stop.”

“I didn’t do it!”

“At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
The hottest place north of the Baha
At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
Training and passion is always the fashion
At the Blue Bay
Falling in love”

Cam cringed. The next verse couldn’t be worse, right?

“His name is Cameron, he is a samurai
He came up to the smoothie bar, and chatted with Tori there
He drank a smoothie, felt warm all over
And when he glanced at Tori’s face, Blake knew he’s loose his place
And then the insults flew, the challenges ensued
There was lightening, there was thunder
The others did not view

At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
The hottest place north of the Baha
At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
Training and passion is always the fashion
At the Blue Bay
She watched her love”

The song chanted “Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front” in Sinatran style. Cam sighed, as he tried to relieve his flustered face. Blake’s face was red, Cam saw that in a glance. Ah, yes, it was bad enough for him to see this, but poor Blake. If he tried to kill it though, he knew he’d have protests.

He started to move the mouse anyway when he felt Tori’s hand on his shoulder. “Let it play out, please. This is kind of neat. And someone did put a lot of time into it.”

“Her name is Tori, she is a Ranger
And that was just a week ago, when they finished up that show
Now they recover, just not with Tori
Still has the bangles that she wears, though the twist’s fallen from her hair
She watches Blake unwind, he doesn’t share his mind
He once again can’t share his feelings
So she’s forever blind

At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
The hottest place north of the Baha
At the Blue Bay, Blue Bay beach front
Training and passion is always the fashion
At the Blue Bay
Falling in love”

The music played out. Cam watched helplessly as Blake turned… he tried to avoid Tori’s gaze, and failed miserably. He blushed and walked out of ninja ops. Tori looked back at Cam, “Thanks for trying.”

“But I didn’t do it.”

“So, who did?” Hunter was somewhere between perplexed and pissed. He glanced at Cam and then back at the door.

“I’m about to find out.”

“Oh, oh… I’m gone.” Shane spun on his heal. Tori winced.

Dustin, grimacing, whispered, “So this was your big plan?”

Hunter’s eyes tore away from the door and stuck to Shane. “YOU?!?”

“It’s not possible.” Cam shifted his glasses. “He doesn’t know how to do streaming video.”

“But Cyber Cam does, “Tori whispered.

Hunter searched the room for his new prey. Cam shook his head. Why would Cyber Cam want to do this? It wasn’t fitting together. The computer beeped and Cam turned to study the screen. The email indeed did originate from his own computer.

Cam turned toward Shane, “What aren’t you telling me?” A thought suddenly occurred to him as he studied Shane’s face. Shane sang… he sang well. He even did Sinatra impressions occasionally. “Shane?”

“It was my fault,” Tori whispered. “Cyber Cam had found video of the beach scene and Dustin had acquired video from the Stormchargers class. I had mentioned that it would be neat to make a presentation that might help Blake open up and say what he wouldn’t say to me after the battle with Ratwell. Cyber Cam said he’d work something up.

“And when I read what he wrote, I thought it was kind of harmless. So I said I’d sing it.” Shane added, “I thought it was kind of funny.”

Cam sighed. What else could be said? He only hoped Blake could work this out with Tori before things went bad.

Hunter growled. He began to storm towards the door. Tori ran past him and stopped in his way. “No, let me. It’s my fault. I want to go apologize. And maybe he’ll forgive me. I just want a chance to work this out. Your brother means a lot to me.” Her eyes were rather watery. Cam noticed that Hunter couldn’t stop watching her eyes. His expression softened, and he turned back, walking back towards Shane, with a puzzled and still slightly pissed look.

Cam turned back towards his computer, half noting that Dustin and Shane were trying to talk Hunter down. His thoughts drifted to poor Blake, working through his embarrassment. And then it hit him, poor Tori… She knew she had made a mistake, but she was only trying to reach out to him. Once again… missing the target… Cam cringed as he tried to block out another Manilow song… as he whispered, “Ships that pass in the night.”
