Loneliness

Like a single leaf on a tree, it flows
in the breeze and soon falls to the ground.
Like a single rose on the hilltop
waiting for the sun to come out, it slowly
withers and dies
Like an infant in its crib at night,
crying for its mother because he is cold
Like two beings bonded together by love,
then one goes away and the other one
is left heart broken.
Like a princess, bent over her dead princess
after a battle.
LIke a four year old sitting in the sandbox
without his best friend with him.
Like a rainbow without a pot of gold at the end.
Loneliness is pain.
Love is what you'll never gain.
