Comfortable
i've just recently noticed
how more and more
of my belongings
have casually become
an everyday decoration
around your place
like my favorite towel -
draped carelessly over the wicker chair
in your bedroom
when i had finished
drying my hair one morning
or my silver blouse
that got flung over onto
the floor next to the
chest of drawers
after a long romantic
dinner together
and even a shampoo bottle of mine
that's been in the shower cubby
so long that it just looks
like a part of the bathroom
and my Cyber Blue nail polish
that i keep saying i'll never
wear again
(only because you think it's "too wild")
but i love the wildness of it
so, ofcourse i wear it
and the salt -n- pepper shakers
that my Aunt Edna sent me
that have been sitting behind
the stove. It doesn't matter
that you think they're tacky,
they'll be tacky in your kitchen,
not mine.
oh, i know all of this stuff
either needs to be thrown away or
picked up
but i like them there.
they're not hurting anyone
or anything
they're . . . they're comfortable
they bring back memories
they're constant reminders of
why i love you so much
maybe that's why i've
let them stay where they are
