I'd like to make a vow to my heart, The vow will serve as my life's chart. My first vow is to always keep learning And to keep alive that restless yearning. My second vow is for my family, To always care and be understanding. My third vow is for humanity, To support their quest for life in eternity. I was thrown on the Earth out in the cold, I had to get warmth, I had to be sold. I got hungry, I had to eat. I had to do something like steal for meat. I had a lust to feed, I was afraid of death, I had to find meaning while I still had breath. I searched for a feeling that could make me a believer, That the world has meaning, that life goes on forever. If I find the way, I will have been found, I had to get off the course I was bound. To know myself I had to hear the sound Of the ways of the world and the people all around. I volunteered to save the world, I fell in love, I married a girl. In place of crying I'd like to hear laughter, I've come to believe in the hereafter. I hope in my lifetime to see A new world where everyone's free To pursue their path, each individually, Without hindrance of evils like war, or poverty, Or a people's loss of personal identity. Every burning soul, here, and in eternity, Is a part of the whole, part of the Almighty. Every person's heart gets torn and mended, Bruised and calloused, through it we're transcended. back to Spirit and Poverty spiritandpoverty.com |
