Gonna Wanna Know Why

I want to know where you draw the line,
If it’s short of human dignity then its time
To tell your respective governments
To count me out of all their judgments.
To take the young and rip out their hearts,
You can be sure I’ll have no part.
If you’re gonna let poor people starve and die,
I’m gonna wanna know why

Old people are afraid to die,
Young people are committing suicide.
In a world of no meaning with no outlet for expression
All they are being offered is a mechanical existence.
They need to be able to dig down into their soul
And find that core that makes us feel whole.
If the means to these ends continue to be denied,
I’m gonna wanna know why.

Drunk drivers, tour bus drivers, and taxis all drive in a hurry,
On the same busy streets where we have to live and worry.
Organized crime has kidnapping and child pornography rings,
While police arrest the victims tempted into shoplifting.
Society is full of ex-convicts who are pent-up and twisted,
Spaceships cruise lifeless planets to see if life ever existed,
As people in twenty-six African nations starve and die,
And I wanna know why.

Middle-age rich guys are buying young women,
Into war, drugs, or prison
Young men are being driven.
Men are trying to break women,
Women are trying to bust men,
Address the solution to this moral pollution,
Or we're all gonna wanna know why.
