Grains of Sand - The Poetry of Dan Henson

The Dark Kiss

An angel walking among mortals
Flawless movements
Eyes like jewels
Skin glistening as if kissed by the sun
The Devil in disguise

The young maiden
Staggering through the alleyway
Unaware of the danger all around her
Mesmerized at the site of this beautiful being
Entranced by his penetrating gaze
Drawn closer by his seductive voice
Utterly euphoric

The sweet smell of her skin
The pulsing of her blood
Her frailty increasing her appeal

One hand brushing her cheek
The other stroking back her dark brown hair
Her throat in all its glory now exposed
She stands powerless against what is to come

His teeth now pierce her skin
Blood flowing into his mouth, sweet as wine
Their hearts beating as one
A brief moment of shear extacy
Then as suddenly as it began, it's over

She lays there motionless
Her strength gone, the light beginning to fade
The cold chill of death now enveloping her
His Dark Kiss the last moment she'll ever know
His blood stained lips, the last vision she'll ever see.
