Life in the sixties
was Carnaby Street,
Nights at the Cavern,
The Liverpool Beat.
Bare-footed Beatniks
with flowers in their hair,
Hippies at 'love-ins'
with peace everywhere.
Lonnie with Skiffle,
Cliff Richard with Rock,
Bill Haley, The Comets
still rounding that clock.
Fashion with Twiggy,
and then Mary Quant,
Mods versus Rockers,
What more could we want?
Twisting and shouting
the years scurried by,
While swallows would echo
our love to the sky.
Ah, those were the glad days
of song and of dance,
Of laughter and sunshine,
of Love and Romance.
