Just A Toy

Just a toy,

A meaningless toy.

Emotions are bare,

No stories to tell,

No love, no warmth, no compassion.

Laying on the ground,

Discarded,

Just a silly old toy.

Once, there was such reverence

A love shared between toy and her master

Now she waits and waits

Yet he goes on by

Never giving her the chance to shine

Alone on a shelf her feelings grow cold

Afraid of letting them die

She cries and screams

Never heard by those near

Unable to save herself now

She’s just a toy,

A meaningless toy,

His love has pulled fast away

She tries to speak

Words he’ll never hear

Nor would he care if he did

She longs to be looked at

Longs to be touched

Longs for some love to raise her up

She’ll never find that

She’ll never stand tall

She’s not worth the trouble for that

Alone in her corner

His words echo true

Could he really have meant what he said?

He’s hard pressed to show it

But she wishes it true

So she doesn’t have live a lie

In anger and fear

She sits all alone

Not wanting to hear if he’s leaving

Inside she knows

His love was only for show

And she, like a fad, was just fleeting

He’ll find a new love

And yet she’ll still recall

How he told her loved her so true

He played her heart

Plucked every string

And left her feeling so blue

She’s just a toy,

Just a meaningless toy

And she knows that’s all she ever was

She goes on with life

Dealing inwardly with her fears

And tries to get the best

Out of what she has left.
