This is my eleventh year teaching middle school Language Arts, and I
am excited about the coming year. I am constantly
trying to find new ways to teach literature and writing skills,
and this website is just one of the many things I am implementing
to make Language Arts more fun and meaningful. This year should
be a busy one, as I have a five year old named Graham and an eight year old named Asher. My wife,
Michelle, is a N.I.C.U. nurse at Loma Linda Children's Hospital. We
have been married for over fourteen years now, and she has been extremely
supportive of my talents as a teacher and writer of English. My
bachelor's degree is in English (with an emphasis on creative writing),
and I am currently writing my thesis for a Master's Degree in English
Composition. In my spare time (when I have it,) I enjoy writing
fiction--my first novel is currently done and being reviewed by literary agents for a possible publishing deal (second one is being written)! I have
always enjoyed creative writing, and I spent several years songwriting,
playing guitar, and performing at local venues.
The fall is always an exciting time for me, especially
because football season has begun. I'm sure you will
hear plently of tales of students who insist on berating my
fondness for the New Orleans Saints. Of course, as an
English teacher I would expect my students to be capable of either
making sound arguments or choosing to remain silent! To this day,
I have been a loyal fanatic, mainly because some of my ancestors settled
in Louisiana.
