ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Julie Parson-Nesbitt, a native of Chicago, is the author of two chapbooks and the winner of a Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award (1989). A community based poet, she teaches creative writing to children and adults and reads her poems at universities, bars, coffee houses and libraries. When younger she worked at several bookstores including the well-known Guild Books in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago. She is the former head of The Guild Complex, a very active literary institution in Chicago.
