Shooting Dead Films With Poets

SHOOTING DEAD FILMS
WITH POETS

by
LINA RAMONA VITKAUSKAS

Praise for Lina Ramona Vitkauskas

Here is new poetry! Lina Vitkauskas opens new doors with Shooting Dead Films With Poets - the work is raw and innovative. Questions are answered as well with this profound verse. This work fuses postmodern language sensibilities with a new sense of the contemporary that is accessable to the poet and non-poet alike.

Reading the poetry of Lina ramona Vitkauskas is like entering the ring of a sparring match. The poems in Shooting Dead Films With Poets dance - nibble around the imagination with Vitkauskas' sharp and innovative wordplay. Invoking the lives and impressions of philosophers, poets, and film stars, Vitkauskas' lines dizzy and delight. She is a writer to keep our eyes on.

Shooting Dead Films With Poets is an improbable treasure. These fourteen poems call out to Cocteau and draw from the gamut spanning Georgic bees and a Chicago found to be antipodal to the Volga. Subtitles twine immaculately. They involke a Cyrillic voyeur penning captions for the movie that knows its own Democracy. This is a run of great poems made great by great lines, a sequence of gracious acts in which Lina is dropping names like Galileo dropped the orange.

Lina ramona Vitkauskas writes a class of 'found' poetry that I will dub 'found memory' as she culls the rooms of the poems of the poets to whom she dedicates and finds word objects that make matter (body, see Einstein's toes!) out of historical and spatial distance. Tender, defiant and fun, these poems are making it new.
