ABOUT THE AUTHOR


Constance Vogel taught high school English and creative writing in Milwaukee and Chicago. Her poetry has been published widely, in Spoon River Poetry Review, River Oak Review, The MacGuffin, Thema, Blue Mesa Review, Blue Unicorn, Afterhours, ELF, Karamu, Ariel, Jean's Journal, The New York Times, The Oyez Review, Whetstone, The Willow Review, and the anthologies: Prairie Hearts and Jane's Stories. She has a collection of poetry published by Finishing Line Press named The Mulberry. She has won first prizes in Rambunctious Review annual poetry competitions. She was selected to be a reader in the Poetry Center of Chicago Annual Juried Reading in 2001 and 2004 and in the Gwendolyn Brooks Award. She was nominated by Skylark for a Pushcart Prize. She has won first place in the Mississippi Valley Poetry Contest and is a four time winner of Triton College's Salute to the Arts competition. She is a past president of The Poet's Club of Chicago and The Writers.

She is a native of Wisconsin and a graduate of Marquette University and holds a graduate degree from Northeastern Illinois University.

In addition to writing, her favorite activities are reading and gardening. She is the mother of two daughters.
