Harvey Overton retired from the Humanities Department of Western Michigan University in 1984. He has been active with the Chicago Guild Complex, and has read at several venues. He can sometimes be seen reading classical metered poetry alongside Slam poets at the Green Mill in Chicago.
He has four books of poetry: Hanging Out in Space, Notes of A Stargazer, How We Measure Fourteen and Other Poems, and his newest Being Here.
He lives on the north side of Chicago.
