Emily Rose, former host of the Poetry Center of Chicago's Lip Reading series and open mic, member of the Mental Graffiti Collective, Chicago-born and raised poet and performer, started writing at an early age. She came into performing through the Young People's Company at the Piven Theatre Workshop in Evanston, IL. After graduating from college as a Theatre Major with a Liberal Arts education, she continued to write and published a chapbook, Cigarette Love Songs and Nicotine Kisses (Cross+Roads Press), in 2004. Blending the two crafts, she now performs at poetry readings, open mics, and Poetry Slams around Chicago and nationally.
