Amanda's Yu-Gi-Oh Recs

RogueMoon
Scarlet Skies

Of Gods And Men
Summary: WIP. SG-1/Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover. SG-1 investigates the possibility of a Goa'uld still living on earth.
Mnevis paused as she remembered that day, "It was the most amazing game I've ever seen played. If Heru'ur had been half the strategist that boy was, he wouldn't have lost his attempted coup.
"To win the game, a player must take out his opponents' lead piece. In a straight out fistfight, Atemu wouldn't have lasted past the first blow. Not against Horus Guard. Atemu knew this and upped the stakes of the game just before it started. He said that he would concede defeat if any of Heru'ur's pieces came within three squares of him. The Jaffa never came close and the game was over in five turns. Heru'ur was unconscious on the floor and about to take a killing blow from my best warrior when Atemu called him off, saying that 'they need not kill the lead to win, only capture it.'
Mnevis looked Hammond in the eyes, "If Atemu had lived to serve Ra, I firmly believe you would still be under the System Lords' rule."

The Forth 'God'
Summary: WIP. Yu-Gi-Oh!/X-Men:Evolution crossover. 5 Millenia ago, a Pharaoh gave half his soul to seal away a great evil, now that evil is trying to escape.
“How was he in the car?”
“Quiet,” the Canadian replied, letting out another smoke ring. “Found out he likes Techno music. Him and Rogue should get along. He’s also got a healthy dose of suspicion in him. He doesn’t trust as easily as he seems to. It took me stopping at the Institute door for him to relax and stop acting like he was about to jump out of the Jeep.”
Ororo laughed, “I am unsurprised. I, too, would be suspicious if someone from a school looking the way you do picked me up at a bus station.”
Logan shrugged, “He’ll get used to it. Laughs at the oddest things. I was trying to make conversation and asked him if he wanted to do any sight seeing and he replies that he’d already been sight seeing. Then he starts giggling uncontrollably. Anyway, I’m more worried about something else.” The Canadian put out his cigarette, put down his feet and leaned forward in his chair. “When we were driving here, there was someone watching us. Following us. I don’t know who, or how, or where, but it felt like they were right behind me the entire time. And by behind me, I mean in the back seat with their feet kicked up.”

The Possession Series
Summary: Someone's been keeping a diary.
I don't know when it started.
         No. No, that's not right.
I don't know if it started. Has it always been this way?
         Perhaps.
         I don't know.
No one does. Not even Yugi. But then, why should he? Why should he even care? It's all the better for him. At least, as far as he's concerned. I have a different opinion on the subject.
Of course, he knows, but he's sure as hell not going to tell.
It's not like any of us have the courage to ask, anyway.

Do What You Have To Do
Summary: Dinner parties and Yami no Bakura don't mix. See how spectacularly one night can alter (read: destroy) the life of a young boy. *snicker*
Suddenly, an evil thought pops into my head. "All right, yami, you can kill him," I say agreeably, ignoring the fact that the Miyakis and my father are now all gaping at me with horror pasted across their faces.
Yami hesitates and glances down at me with an odd look on his face. "Aibou...?"
"But..." I turn on the puppy dog eyes and bite my lip, "You'd be breaking a promise..." I sniff dramatically, "You'd hurt my feelings... and I'll tell Yugi that you're being mean to me..."
"Keh! Why the hell should I care what the pharaoh's damn brat thinks about me?"
"And Yugi would tell his yami..." I continue, getting to my feet and gently settling my hands around the Ring on his chest, staring deliberately up into his eyes, which have been slowly softening throughout my little speech, "And then Yugi's yami..." I pause and kick up the adoreableness a notch, leaning forward and threading a hand carefully through his hair. He's wavering. I pout a little bit more and look as beseeching as I possibly can. Aha! He's reaching for me! Gotcha! I press myself up against his chest - and speak. "Would... KICK YOUR FUCKING ASS!"
He actually takes a step back. My yami, the great and terrible tomb robber, actually takes a step back and stares at me in shock.
I feel absurdly pleased with myself.

Vathara
Urban Legends
I positively love the way she does character interactions. She has a way of throwing in random comments or observations that rock your veiw of the characters. And crossovers are just plain fun.

Roll the Bones
Summary: Crossover with the Sentinel. Yugi, Seto, and Ryou find chaos in Cascade, Washington.
          "He's a-" Rafe swallowed.
"Oh, Ryou's fine," Mai shrugged. "Nice kid. But Bakura could rob you blind just walking past, and you'd never even know it."
"I asked him to show me how, but nii-sama says I should stick to security systems until I'm older." Mokuba folded his arms, disgruntled. "And then he won't tell me how much older!"
"You-" Words failed Rafe. "What do you people do in your spare time?"
"Every once in a while? Save the world." Mai slipped him a wink. "Come on, Detective. Let's go terrorize your bullpen one more time."

Visions
Summary: One thing that never happened in Yu-Gi-Oh. A missing scene, for the episode where Ishizu shows Seto Kaiba the panel of hieroglyphs.
As she should have expected. The bits of the past she had unveiled for Kaiba were not the whole story. Far from it.

Two figures facing each other, hands outstretched over a cauldron of fire....
Pharaoh and sorcerer. Yami and Kaiba-who-had-been, as Ancient Egypt had recorded events.
Pharaoh and sorcerer, combining their power to defeat their enemies.

Just as well this Kaiba doesn't read hieroglyphs.

Lizeth
Lizeth's Loft

For the Game
Summary: Ryou pushed his yami too far one Friday night. Now it gets interesting, 'cause he's about to find out exactly what his yami does in his spare time... and maybe build a little trust while he's at it?
         /This is not what I wanted,/ Ryou wailed frantically. /YAMI THIS ISN'T FUNNY!/
//Funny, no. Fun, yes,// came the wry reply. It was 7 p.m. now, and Bakura was strolling casually through Domino City's business district, a black duffle bag thrown haphazardly over one shoulder. Under his trench coat, he was wearing tight-fitting pants, army boots and a long-sleeved turtleneck, all of which were black. A pair of gloves stuck out from his right coat pocket while his left contained what appeared to be a knitted hat.
//Shut up!// the tomb raider finally snapped. //Listen, you said, and I quote: 'Why can't you be more like Yugi's yami? We never do anything together!'// Bakura sneered.
Within his soul room, Ryou's expression was an interesting study of how to look mortified, furious and panicked, all at the same time. Shuddering slightly, Ryou Bakura, timid little pushover that he was, counted to ten... then twenty... and upon finding that method of self-control severely lacking, he balled his fists and hollered as loud as his mind-voice would allow.
/ROBBING A BANK IS NOT WHAT I'D CALL QUALITY BONDING TIME!!!/

History of Magic
Summary: WIP. Dumbledore decides it's time for a change, hiring a new... History of Magic prof?! A History of Magic prof with tri-coloured hair, violet eyes and an unusual affinity for black leather.
The yami leaned casually against the desk as he watched his hikari pack in the dimly lit, second-floor bedroom of the Turtle Game Shop.
"Are you sure about this, aibou?" His crimson eyes shone warmly; surprisingly solid compared the rest of his transparent, leather-clad body.
Yugi turned and smiled at his other half, tossing a bunch of clothes into his suitcase. "A little late for doubts, don't you think?" he asked, tossing in a couple of books for good measure before shoving the suitcase closed with some difficulty.
The spirit shrugged and smirked and Yugi wasn't quite sure if he liked the liked the glint in the other's eye. "It's your neck... Professor."

Bank Blues
Summary: WIP. Seto's fired his 134th intern and Mokuba's fed up. In hopes of building tolerance, Mokuba makes a bet. "Seto Kouryuu" must find and keep a day job for the next two months.
Ice blue eyes were narrowed into slits behind clear, non-prescription glasses. Mokuba had insisted that it Seto buy a pair to complete his "Clark Kent" disguise. Hey, he'd said, glasses worked for Superman, right? Why not for a CEO turned antisocial programmer?
Diligently fighting faulty, misbehaved java codes by day. Managing a high-tech, multi-million corporate company by night (after 5 p.m. when his hours ended).
...That, Seto decided, would be the last time he'd let his little brother read stupid American mangas.
With a huff, the world-class duellist broke the glare and stood in one graceful movement, straightened his starched, button-down shirt, and stalked out of his cramped office without another word.

Chasing the Dragon
Summary: All Seto Kaiba wanted was to spend some time with his little brother. What he got was a magical revolution. (YGO-HP Crossover)
Seto inhaled a deep breath as he sat back in his seat – he had lost his temper too many times today. He needed to take control. He felt Set grumbling idle threats in the back of his mind and turned his attention back to Dumbledore.
"You mentioned you were being followed over the past week?" Dumbledore questioned idly and Seto inclined his head.
"I'm afraid that that wasn't Severus who has been following you – though he has been keeping a watchful eye for me. The people following you were what we call Aurors, they are like your policemen. At the request of the ministry they have been tracking you, amongst others, to gain sufficient evidence to arrest you."
Seto met Dumbledore's eyes determinedly - he decided that although he didn't exactly like him he could find himself respecting him, maybe.
"You are here under the protection of this household Mister Kaiba. In the eyes of the Ministry of Magic you are now a fugitive and therefore dangerous. I'm afraid that you will not be able to return to your home for quite some time."

Fire Tears
Macabre Rectitude

Of Cars, Driving Lessons, and Road Rage
Summary: *snerk* Seto tries to teach Yami how to drive properly. Not that Yami listens or anything... Poor, poor Seto. Yami is simply not himself once he gets behind the wheel. Can anyone say 'Road Rage'?
"Remind me again why I'm doing this," Seto grumbled, pulling on his white trench coat. Yami glared at him.
"Because if I don't pass my driver's test, Yugi is going to be rather pissed off at me for failing a third time," Yami crossed his arms over his chest, leaning against the outside wall of Seto's mansion as Seto shut the door behind them. "And because if you don't, I'll be forced to follow you around everywhere, whining constantly and ranting about the heart of the cards until you agree."
"Why couldn't you have just asked Bakura?" Seto asked moodily, opening the passenger door of a black Toyota.
"Have you seen him drive?" Yami raised an eyebrow at him, getting in the driver's seat.
"Have you seen yourself drive?" Yami chose to ignore that, turning the ignition and backing slowly out of the driveway.
"I'm doing fine," he snapped back after a moment, turning to glare at Seto, who had made somewhat of a nervous noise.
          Crunch.
"Oh yes," Seto replied dryly. "You're doing splendidly."

Of Demons and Dreams
Summary: WIP. Yugi has a rare gift. Yami is teaching him how to control the power of the Shadow Realm. After seven years of knowing each other a drastic event shakes up the status quo. Then Kaiba stumbles into the mix and things *really* get heated.
“Oh have we got it bad.” Yugi commented in amusement.
          “Huh. I can't believe it.”
“Well.....at least we're not fighting over him.”
Yami snickered, rocking Yugi with his movement. “That would be strange.”
          “So...we're okay now, right?”
Yami faced his light, holding his face tenderly. He touched their foreheads together. “We're 'okay', aibou.”
Yugi smiled, before letting it morph into a mischevious grin. “So does this mean we're going to be going after Seto?”
Yami growled, but it soon turned into chuckles. “Yes my Light. This means we'll be going after Seto.”
          “Cool.”

Vacation Blues
Summary: WIP. YGO/HP crossover. Yami and Yugi go on vacation, unwittingly they get drawn into another magical world. Maybe some of the HP world will find out that not all Darkness is evil.
Yugi had his arms outstretched, palms facing the front of the shield. Every hit the shield took made a ripple, and it took a fraction longer for the shield to harden after each attack.
The world spun, and Yugi felt himself drop to his knees, the cries of the battle becoming a buzzing in his ears. His eyes saw nothing but white and Yugi could taste blood from where he'd bitten down on his tongue.
No! Yugi let out a desperate sob, forcing himself to stay in control. He fell forward onto his elbows, and crawled to the edge of the shield, placing both his hands against the barrier. Hold. He whispered in his mind, picturing the shield take anchor inside himself. There was a slight tingle across his body, and Yugi smiled with relief, allowing himself the comfort of unconsciousness. The barrier would hold as long as Yugi lived, and only Yami would be able to disperse it from within his soul room.
          Yugi fell into welcome oblivion.

The Mark Of The Gods – A Pharaoh's Return
Summary: WIP. YGO/SG-1 Crossover. Yami's past is even worse than previously thought. Could he have stopped a greater evil than the Shadow Games?
Seto and Yami exuded a trace of danger, even after they toned everything down. Seto's tall, slim frame, dark tousled mahogany hair and deep, cold, cobalt blue eyes and aura of arrogance and contempt, alternately enticed people to him and frightened them away. Yami, his looks almost identical to Yugi's, with his tri-coloured spiky hair, petite and slim frame and blood-red ruby eyes, flashing with cruelty and power seemed to fascinate people with almost deadly curiosity. Deadly for them, that is.
Add to that their near-constant vigilance and experience with darker matters than most were privy to tended to show. It showed in their walk, their manner of speaking and dealing with people, especially fools, as neither Seto nor Yami could abide them. It also showed in their way of checking out every room and person for threat assessment. Their eyes hard and cold to those who didn't know them.
No, Yugi was the only one who could go without arousing too much interest or suspicion. And the smaller boy had an almost uncanny ability of fading into the background despite his looks. People just didn't seem to notice him when he didn't wish it. It was a skill which had helped many a time.
The three of them were wise enough to know when to utilise that particular talent.

Yugi in Shorts
Summary: A collection of Random moments. Some better than others. Often hilarious if you get the references.
"Hey, Ryou," Yugi called. "We're all headed to the movies. Wanna come?"
          "What are you seeing?"
"Lord of the Rings! It's supposed to be great!" The tricolored boy was practically bouncing on his toes.
          Ryou just looked at him.
          "Ryou?"
"Okay, so let me get this straight. You're asking me if I want to go see a movie about an innocent kid that gets a magic ring that gives him magical powers while slowly subverting him and bringing out his evil side?"
"Um…I guess so," said Yugi, now looking at the floor.
Ryou sighed and fingered the Millennium Ring through his shirt. "Thanks, but I think I'll pass."

The Games Angels Play
Summary: Crossover with Angel: The Series. On a rare, rainy night in Los Angeles, a short, violet-eyed boy with a problem walks into Angel Investigations.
          "Wesley! Hey, Wes!"
The man with the glasses ran out of his office, prepared for anything, or as prepared as he could be without heavy weaponry, as that tended to scare potential clients. He brought himself up short as he saw Cordelia with her arm around a slight, soaked child, his hair hanging down in multicolored stripes. He passed a lobby-level bathroom on his way to the reception area and grabbed a large towel, handing it to Cordy as she guided the boy to a chair.
Cordelia arranged the fluffy bath sheet about the boy's neck and shoulders, toweling him gently, and looked over his bowed head to Wesley.
          'Demon?' she mouthed soundlessly.
Wesley shrugged. 'Tea,' he mouthed back.
          'Tea demon?'
          'Make tea, he's freezing!'
          'Oh. Gotcha.'

How the Tomb Thief Stole Christmas
Summary: A heartwarming holiday tale featuring our favorite larcenous spirit and his better half. No, really. Well, sort of.
"Ryou," he asked, "Have you noticed anything different about me lately?"
"Well, you're not as mean as you used to be."
          "I knew it!"
"And you haven't done anything malevolent with your shadow powers lately. Well, unless you count turning that mime into a bobble-head doll. But I don't think that ought to count. He was creepy." Ryou glanced at the doll on the windowsill, its black and white face bobbing gently in the breeze. He shuddered. "He's still creepy."
This comforted Yami Bakura not at all. "It's worse than I thought!"
"Wait, wait," Ryou said, "there must be a better solution than banging your head against the wall." //I'm not so sure I'm not going to feel that when you get back here,// he added, most likely to himself, not that it mattered.
"Well? I'm listening. But I doubt you've got any idea what it's like to be losing touch with your inner total bastard."
"I wish I did, though," Ryou said, looking pointedly at his yami, who returned a poisonous glare.

Of Gods and Glass Towers
Summary: WIP. Gargoyles Crossover. Battle City will not be the only place where the God Cards clash, and NYC will never be the same...
         //Aibou...//
Yugi mumbled in his sleep, pulling the blanket tighter around him, and buried his face against the pillow.
Not now, he thought dimly, the sun's not even all the way up yet... With a mental groan, he tried to block out the voice whispering inside of him with a growing insistency.
          //Aibou...//
The other voice was unrelenting, tickling at the fringes of his consciousness, and yet possessed a certain petulant whine that came only with familiarity.
          //Aibouuuuuuu...//
Even a hikari can only take so much.
/Yami. I love you as the other half of my soul, but it's 6 AM on a Saturday, and if you don't stop trying to wake me up, I'm going to take apart the Puzzle, put it back in the box, take the box back to Egypt, and bury it in the sand./
For a moment, there was blissful silence, but then, //But

          /Near

          Horrified silence reigned.
Satisfied, Yugi went back to sleep.
