Frozen Moonlight
Summary: In high school, Kaoru Kamiya escaped from a demon. Five years later, she meets a man who looks awfully familiar...Her spine stiffened with a new resolution, Kaoru determinedly cleaned off the coffee table and finished her dinner.
She had been prepared for threats and interrogations and possible painful attempts on Kenshins part to discover what she had done with the sword she had taken away. Just because he had decided on a... different approach to solving his weapons problem didnt change her determination. Not even a little bit. And if he thought that it had... well, he was going to be in for a shock.
She, Kaoru Kamiya, Assistant Master of the Kamiya Kasshin School, was not the sort of girl who could be intimidated, threatened, and certainly not seduced into helping the forces of evil, especially cute red-haired forces of evil who brought her flowers and stole her bicycle after shed already had to kill them once.
And, with a resolute nod, Kaoru took her dishes over to the sink.
No matter what he tried, she could handle it.
Because she knew what Kenshin was capable of.
And there was no way she was going to allow it to happen again.
No matter what.

Out of Time
Summary: WIP. During a trip to Kyoto with his friends, Himura Kenshin winds up in deep water... thirteen years in the past. How will Kenshin deal with the Revolution again? And how will his friends deal with Battousai, who has traded places with him?"Where do you think you're going, rooster?"
"I'm going after Kenshin," Sano snapped. "What do you think?"
Megumi shook her head. "Why? If you know it won't do any good"
"Because someone should." He turned his back on her, and walked to the door, sliding it open partway. Without looking back, he commented. "A lot of shit has happened to him. Like those wounds. And... other things. I haven't even figured it all out yet." Sano looked back at her, trying to find the right words. "But I just thought that when he comes back, it might mean something to Kenshin if he knew that someone was worried enough to go out and look for him, even if that someone didn't have any real hope of finding him." He shrugged. "So, you guys all go out and find Kenshin tomorrow. Fix up his injuries if he has any. And when I get back, maybe the fact that I was out there will help him, too."
"Sano"
He shook his head and slid the door the rest of the way open. "I don't expect you to understand. I just don't want to see him break. He's so close. He's always so close, no matter how strong he seems. But this time he's walking the rail, and I'm kinda afraid he's gonna fall in."
With that, Sano stepped outside, and slid the door shut behind him.

The Geas
Summary: WIP. Life hasn't been good for Kaoru since the day her father died and her evil witch of a stepmother turned her into a literal slave. A spell binds her every movement and hides her from the sight of the world until she happens across the path of Kenshin, a veteran of the Revolution who can not only see her, but is instantly smitten with her!"You must be kidding, Okashira."
"I am not in the habit of kidding." Aoshi said darkly with a dark glance at Shikijou, who had been responsible for the outburst. "This is your new assignment on behalf of our Benefactor, Himura-san. The girl has captured his interest." He paused to let them absorb the layers of meaning in that statement.
Yes, boys, he thought fondly. We've finally got a chance to marry the eccentric bastard off and get him out of our hair.
It had been Hanya's idea to toss Kenshin into the Marriage Market. They all had respect for the man and hated to see him drowning in retirement, not that anyone wanted him to leave it. He just needed some company. A wife meant that they could force him into a steady schedule, making it far easier on whoever was assigned to guard him that day. No-one of the Oniwabanshuu was getting any younger and it was getting harder to keep up with Kenshin every day. A woman would settle him and help him redirect all that damn energy.
"Command us, Okashira." Hanya said simply and his comrades-in-arms nodded in agreement.

The Slumbering City
Summary: {Kenshin/Kaoru} WIP. When Kaoru takes a museum tour she doesn't expect to get lost. Nor does she expect to bleed on a dry fountain or awaken a dead garden. But getting claimed by the Battousai estate, and its master, is a consequence she comes to both dread and long for.Under the rumbling noise Kaoru felt like she could almost hear a voice. Focusing on that feeling, she barely noticed when the tremors started to slow. The words were indistinguishable at first. Slowly they resolved into the repetition of a word, one the last twelve hours had made her intimately familiar with.
Suddenly, she felt warm and moist phantom breaths puffing against the skin below her left ear. Looking back, she shakily confirmed that no one was there. Just the olive green wall. Yet she could feel it, could feel him standing behind her in Sano’s apartment.
“Koi,” a ghostly voice commanded, caressed, growled in her ear. “Koi!” it shouted. Then the building became still.
Dust, sparkling like glitter in the sunlight, sifted through the air in the now silent room. Bringing trembling fingers to the pendant around her neck, Kaoru touched warm gold and remembered the other meanings of koi besides carp and love.
Koi was also a command to come.

The Last Honourable Man
Summary: {K/K} WIP. For 15 years, hitokiri Battousai stood behind Katsura, the leader of the Ishin Shishi yakuza. But now Katsura is dying, and the battle for the top position begins...Kenshin was not a fool.
Having grown up on the streets, he had no formal education to speak of, but his shishou – an old-fashioned, stiff-necked traditionalist who believed calligraphy and haiku every bit as important as footwork, balance and sake – had made sure he had more to recommend him than his skills with a blade. According to Hiko, the older man had struggled long and hard to pound some basic culture and manners into him, with little success –
According to Katsura-san, Kenshin was curiously old-fashioned, naïve in some ways, bitterly cynical in others, and often out of touch with the realities of the twentieth century. But he was in no way a fool, and nor, after fifteen years at Katsura-san’s side, was he ignorant of political infighting and the corruption of power and money.
Something was wrong.

Without Words
Summary: {Kenshin/Karou} one-shot. Not all gifts are appreciated. Kaoru slowly learns the value of a gift she has come to resent. She is vaguely intrigued by this slight change in behavior and, casting him a sidelong glance, she tries to speed up, kicking up dust behind her. Without blinking, he lengthens his graceful strides to match hers. She huffs and tosses her head in the air.
“The letter wasn’t addressed to you,” she says pointedly, “The only person’s name on that paper was mine. So I don’t see why you have to come.”
“Kaoru-dono,” he says, his tone lower than usual, “That letter seemed quite suspicious to me.”
“What would you know?”
“It was pinned to the door post with a dagger,” Kenshin replies calmly, seemingly unperturbed by her irritated gestures, “And it instructed you to meet the sender in an abandoned boating warehouse – for information about a crime your dead father might have committed in the past.”
She stops abruptly to stare at him, open-mouthed. “You read my letter?”
“I was concerned.” Kenshin meets her stare, his expression unruffled.

Things Left Unsaid
Summary: {K/K, A/M} WIP. Modern AU. She ran. He searched. And then he found. No secret stays buried forever. It was empty, and she praised her good fortune. Ripping open the bag, she pulled out a pair of scissors. Her hands shook slightly, and she watched her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes were large and wet, almost on the verge of tears, and her face was pale and tense.
“Be strong.”
The words felt hollow as they left her mouth, and she tentatively brought the scissors up to her hair. He loved her hair. Kenshin had told her on numerous occasions how it was like glimpsing true twilight. He loved to play with it, loved to see it floating freely around her shoulders. He loved her hair almost as much as she loved his own. But it was so recognizable, so much a part of the old her. Biting her inside cheek, she cut.
Long strands fell into the sink as she worked hard at cutting evenly and quickly. Her thoughts drifted to the past again, and Kaoru didn’t stop the scenes from passing behind her eyes.

An Unexpected Lesson
Summary: Three years after the end of the Bakumatsu, a chance encounter with a kabuki troupe teaches Kenshin an unexpected lesson in survival.Kenshin finished administering the painkiller as quickly as he could, then waited until Ennosuke managed to drift off to sleep once again. Then he returned to the campfire to have some breakfast, only to find that Daisuke and his two other sons were pointing animatedly at him. He stopped, his bearing changing imperceptibly from relaxed to tense and wary.
"Don't you see?" Ryosuke was saying. "Look at his size, the grace of his movements! He'd be perfect!"
"Don't be ridiculous," Orinosuke replied. "He knows nothing about it; he'd make fools of us all."
"He wouldn't have to talk, we could do that for him," Ryosuke countered. "All he'd have to do is move." Turning to his father, he said, "Father, don't you see, the solution to our problem is standing right here before us! He's just about Ennosuke's size - a little shorter, maybe - and he's got the face for it, if you ignore the scar."
Kenshin tensed even further. What about his scar?
"He could fill in for Ennosuke as an actor until his leg has healed!"

A Strange Partnership
Summary: WIP. Crossover with The Sentinel. Saitô is a Sentinel, and Kenshin/Battôsai has always been his destined Guide. In August of 1869 they encounter each other for the first time since the battles at Toba Fushimi, and must begin to learn how to work together as a bonded Sentinel/Guide pair. Much adventure awaits...As they waited for the large group that remained - who had slowed down, much as the original group had, made nervous by the way the two of them had just defeated eight men - Saitô decided that it might be a wise idea to let Battôsai know who he was. Better now, before they were in the middle of the next fight, when it could distract the hitokiri, or after they finished dealing with these idiots, when Battôsai might just react as though they were still in Kyoto. At the moment, neither of them could afford to take their eyes off their opponents, which meant that at least Battôsai wouldn't try to put a sword through him until they were defeated. And he knew the perfect way to go about doing so...
"Did it ever occur to you," he commented dryly, just loud enough for the hitokiri to hear as he unmasked his ki sufficiently for Battôsai to feel it, "to simply tell them, 'Go back the way you came - or die'?"
The shock that he felt resonate through Battôsai's ki, which let him sense it clearly for once, was amusing enough to almost make up for the current situation.
