A Good Night's Rest

There is a simple rose
that blooms in a dark garden
under a blue tarp,
unseen...

And when she comes to him,
he welcomes her with a smile
and lets her rest her wings
on his velvet pedals.

His leaves wrap around her,
she folds her arms gently over them,
and caresses his stem with a tiny faery foot.
They kiss goodnight and he closes.

All night is a festival of fireflies
and crickets on guard from evil.
No worries, just peace in slumber,
and the mellow glow under the sky.
