"March Winds"

March winds blowing so gaily,
Spin windmill paddles wildly around.
How they seem to enjoy those winds so gale'ey.

Colorful kites share the joy,
As boys and girls pull and tug
On their favorite springtime toy.

March winds, this year warm and breezy,
Blow my curtains to and fro.
Oh how each little gust does please me.

Making a sound that brings joy to my ear,
Windchimes dance merrily,
Seeming the March winds to cheer.

Spin on little dizzy windmill,
Fly higher beautiful kites,
Windchimes keep up your trill.

Enjoy the March winds now, because you know
Soon they'll lay low, as April showers begin to fall
And May flowers begin to grow.

"Spring"

Sunny blue sky,
Your beauty captures my eye.

Spring, yearning to ensue;
Yet another freeze pauses you.

I will wait;
Though not patiently.

Already rebirth has been frozen.
Flowers have bloomed and are now dozin'.

Your promise is so near.
Spring, when will your glory appear?

I will wait;
Though not patiently.

Teasing all my senses,
Winter, one more blast dispenses.

Spring moves in slowly on a cold breeze.
Soon Winter will be just memories.

I will wait;
Though not patiently.

"Great Great Aunt MamaB"

"TWO TINY PAPOOSES IN A "HOT HOUSE ROOM"

They nestled together in Mommy's womb
Happy, contented, as they heard her heart boom
Then suddenly, Birth, 'cause there was no more room
For these Two Tiny Papooses in a "Hot House" room

It wasn't expected to be like this
In that warm environment, they knew only bliss,
But God brought them forth, a little too soon
These Two Tiny Papooses in a "Hot House" room

We might say God made a mistake
Why all these heart-wrenching trials to take,
But He weaves the pattern of their lives on HIS loom,
These Two Tiny Papooses in a " Hot House" room

They will grow like flowers in a warm cozy bed
That was waiting for them just up ahead,
And with much love and caring they will grow and bloom
These Two Tiny Papooses in a "Hot House" room.

"THE ATTIC OF MY MIND"

Oh, where to find,
the “attic of my mind”?
Is it under my bed?
Is it on top of my head?
Is it under the rug,
devoured by a bug?
Is it out in the street?
Is it under my feet?
Did Bruce take it? No!
Where, oh where, did it go?

Did the cat take it away,
for to play with today?
Did I leave it at work,
to be found by a jerk?
The answer is “NO”!!
Where the hell did it go?

It was filled with such stuff,
like Marshmallow Fluff.
And pizza with cheese,
falling down to my knees.
Did I leave the darn thing,
at the concert with “King”?

Or perhaps I misplaced it,
hit “delete” and erased it.
The answer is “NO”!!
Where the hell did it go?
I’ll keep looking around,
till my attic is found,
cause I’m sure it’s quite dusty,
let alone, rather rusty.
Don’t you worry, my friend,
this isn’t the end!

"The Attic of My Mind"

Cobwebbed memories
Cluttered thoughts
Freeze-framed scenes of happy days.
These all live in the attic of my mind.
Dusty childhood games
Youthful love
Wonders of the miracle of birth.
These are things I have tucked away so long.
Trivia preserved
Treasures stored
Parents, friends and married life.
Should I keep these in the attic of my mind?
Or sweep them out right now?
Let them go?
Pack them for eternity?
No. They represent the fabric of my life.

"First Snow"

White ribbons fell from the sky.
Snow or freezing rain?
At first you fooled my eye.

Sleepless, I waited to see
If you'd cover the grass.
Anticipation built in me.

Your shape began to rearrange.
With your powdery presence,
The scene began to change.

You came and went so fast,
Giving my winter soul
But a brief repast.

"Hope for the Future"

We ring out the old and bring in the new.
The old year is gone, over and through.

The new year is waiting for us to savor
And we pray for God's blessing and favor.

On this the Twelfth Day of Christmas, we celebrate
our Savior's birth.
May we, in twenty-o-two, truly find good will and peace on earth.

"
SCENES OF WINTER"

The warm balmy breezes of summer
are gone.
As the cold North Wind blows,
scenes of winter are everywhere.
The mighty Oak devoid of its brilliant
fall foliage
stands naked and shivering in the cold.
Snowflakes are whirling, swirling,
falling lazily to the ground.
Children, bundled in their heavy winter wear
are laughing, playing, frolicking in the snow.
Old men are huffing and puffing as they
shovel mounds of snow from pathways.
Automobiles keep slipping, sliding
into each other as they travel
on the icy streets.
Fields and trees are adorned
with a fresh covering of snow
making a truly magical wonderland.
Winter has arrived at last.
Welcome Winter!

"The Colors of Winter"

The stark color of brown leafless trees against a sky of cobalt blue,
Puffy clouds floating by, devoid of any hue,
The glistening of the ice coating every tiny branch reflects light
And the yellow sun is shining so bright.

These are the colors of winter, they sure delight the eye,
Enticing winter birds as they go flying by.
They come to the feeders welcoming in the dawn
As we go out to fill them early every morn.

They are a happy site, brightening up the day.
Don't let them see you or they will fly away.
The bunnies and chipmunks are all hiding from the snow,
The migrating birds all flew south long ago.

The bright red of the cardinals and beautiful blue jays
Are all the colors we will see for many days.
We all look forward to spring to see bulbs put on their colorful display
Don't despair as it will soon be coming our way!!!

"New Year 2002"

I choose in the coming New Year
Not to live in fear or sadness.
That's not to say they won't be near.
But I won't succumb to their madness.

Instead I plan horns to blow
And prayers of thanks to sing
For the blessings God does sow,
Even though pain still does sting.

I don't understand how some can say
No more happiness can they find
After loss, fear and loneliness come their way.
May God their tortured souls unbind.

Strange you may say I am;
For joy through sorrow I can see.
In His Word the great 'I Am'
Placed this verse that speaks to me.

"He healeth the broken in heart
and bindeth up their wounds". Psalms 147:3

So in my New Year 2002,
Fear and sadness just won't do;
For joy and gladness will ensue.
Happy New Year 2002!

"New Year"

The Year 2002 is here.
May it be a blessed year.
Let us be hankful for friends and family.
The Love we share.
When we help others they know we care.
In winter some places have snow.
In Florida the weather is mild.
Soon spring will come,
flowers, and gardens will grow.
But for now, I want my Friends to know
I wish them a "Happy New Year!

"Eternal Hope"

How quickly years and seasons come and go,
Like bells that toll uncounted each life's stage.
For in our busyness we tend to grow
Uncaring that we've passed another age.
And when at last we know the bell's for us,
Each peal's an omen awful to our ears
And forces from us thoughts so torturous
We cannot focus but upon our fears:
The love rejected, lost, or simply missed;
Unkindnesses we have been guilty of;
The selfish acts too numerous to list--
The daily failures of God's call to love.
In such extremity we hope to know
And feel God's saving grace within the soul.

"To Patricia"

I thought I had forgotten her, but then
Some memories can never fully fade.
A name, a chance remark, a song that's played--
That's all it takes to trot them out again.
This time it was a class reunion when
I sat with friends with whom I'd shared a grade.
I thought once more of Pat, the lovely maid,
And let my mind dwell on what might have been.
I could envision still her platinum hair,
Her graceful walk and carriage confident,
Her classic face like angels' up above.
From her I learned love's joy without compare,
But from her, too, I learned what poets meant
When they wrote of the awful pangs of love.

"2001 - 2002"

There's still a few days left in 2001.
Many memories we've had with enjoyment and fun.
It really seems to be, had it not been for thee,
More safe travels pleasures, and treasures,
with so many, we can measure.
Most all our lives we've spent together,
most as easy and gentle as a feather.
We've also strived to finish,
never to leave things unfinished!
From many occasions,
we've derived and lived with much pride.
With "God" in our corner,
we feel humbled and privileged with honor!
"Happy 48th" Anniversary, Bob"!
Lets try for the "50th", do we dare with a flare?
I must admit we've been a pair,
and loved every minute we have shared!!
My friend, My companion,
My Hubby
All my Love!!

"Christmas"

What does Christmas mean to you
Malls thronged with shoppers searching
For that gift for someone special
Parents hoping there will be
One more Britney Spears CD?
What does Christmas mean to you?
Strings of lights around the roof
A wreath of Balsam on the door
Candles burning in the window
The tree with ornaments all hung?
What does Christmas mean to you?
Cookies baking in the oven
Fruitcake soaking in the rum
A turkey waiting to be roasted
All the trimmings to be fixed?
What does Christmas mean to you?
Rushing, rushing to and fro
Fighting traffic like a demon
Counting eight more days to go
Wound up like a tightened spring?
What does Christmas mean to me?
It represents the Christ child’s birth
When God sent love down to earth
In the body of a baby
That’s what Christmas means to me!

"THE PROMISE OF A NEW YEAR "

A new year will begin as twenty-o-two;
A year of pain and terror will finally be through.

With our hearts still heavy and laden with grief
We realize that life can be ever so brief.

God presents us with a brand new day each dawn
Then we thank Him at its end for the blessings we have
drawn.

Our hearts fill with hope as we welcome the new year.
May we all be blessed with good health and good cheer.

"An Old Friend"

I saw an old friend today
sitting all alone in her room
lost in her yesterdays

She watched my children grow
I was with her after one of
hers died

To her I was still family
even after the divorce

She's lived by herself for years
alone except for her cats
now she's in a home

She hates it there
and wants to go home
the Dr. says she can't be alone

The family cries- what do we do?
This is killing us
and mommy too---

You may say
can't they take her in?
They work and have families too

What an awful decision to have to make
I pray they made the right one
as I remember how she used to be.

"NEW YEAR"

Some look to the New Year
with worry and dread.
They fear that the sky
will fall down on their head.

From time immortal
New Year has come and gone.
The world is still spinning
and life goes on.

Some years have been joyous
and some have been sad.
We treasure the good times
and cope with the bad.

Let us look to the future
and learn from the past.
Our troubles and sorrows
will never last.

May flowers will bloom
and blue birds will sing.
God has control
of what the New Year will bring.

Welcome-2002

A new year is coming-another year is past...
We pray to God this one will be better than the last.
So much tragedy and sorrow to remember every day,
We hope better days are coming-everyone should pray.

It's still hard to put a smile on the sorrying faces...
People are afraid to travel and visit different places,
But we must try to rise above all our sadness and grief,
And hope that time will heal us and offer some relief.

So we can get on with living and find pleasure in our days...
Attending a new picture show or seeing some plays,
Having guests over, laughing and having fun.
It will be a pleasure to see smiles on everyone.

So we hope you will enjoy this brand new year...
Finding many pleasures to replace some of our fear.
As we approach the year two thousand and two,
We wish a blessed, happy year to you and you and you!
GOD BLESS US ALL!

"SIX FEET"

I listen to the buzzing of the bees
Warm breezes are whispering in the trees
I watch as little bunnies hop around
and squirrels gather acorns off the ground
Fragrant flowers are a colorful sight
This day is a day of peace and quiet
but I am feeling lonesome and blue
My life is sad because I'm missing you
My lonely heart pretends that you're not gone
and I'm not living my life all alone
My empty arms ache to hold you once more
My lips remember your kisses galore
Loving memories haunt me as I weep
I never knew six feet could be so deep

"TO THE INSTIGATOR"

Jann, you're in my head
Pushing thoughts that I dread.

You say to me -- write poetry!
How on earth can that be?

Byron, Keats and Shelley,
Oh, how they would scoff at me!

Rhyme a word or two;
That, perhaps, I can do.

You, my friend, say I can.
You are an instigator, Jann!

"HEY, TURKEY"

Hey, all you turkeys
you'd better watch out
November is here
and without a doubt
For Thanksgiving dinner
in each house you see
The menu is shaping up
and you might be
Stuffed with some dressing
and roasted till brown
So if someone invites you
you'd best turn him down
Say nice and politely
"No thank you kind sir-
But, I'd like to be just an is
not a were-"

"The Inner Cold"

The tears are frozen on my face.
With mittened hands, I try to wipe
My tears away.

A picture is frozen in my mind,
Of homeless men, huddled on grates
Above the sewer

As they try to grasp a bit of warmth.
Wrapped in their bits of coats,
and ragged gloves.

I return to warmth of home, bed, food,
Boots, warm leather gloves
And my loved ones

But in my wide bed, I am not warm.
Within my heart for in my mind I see,
Those who have no love.

"Happy Birthday Daughter "

November is Sharon's Birthday.
We have a double holiday this year, because
it's Thanksgiving Day to.
With each year I love her more.
Teaching Exercise is her new found Joy.
She encourages her Mom but I don't feel the enthusiasm.
She does her routine to a musical beat.
I tried Yoga, with her.
Over her head go her feet.
Gosh, I know this is more about her exercise than her birthday.
I am so proud of her though and if she can teach me.
I'll stand on my head and sing.
I love you Sharon." Happy Birthday To Thee"

HOLIDAY SEASON-2001

Fall is here and the trees are almost bare,
Holidays are coming and soon we'll all be there
At Grandma's house ready to share in a feast,
Everyone will be present, the greatest and the least.

Grandma's in the kitchen baking pumpkin pies
All the chattering and laughter reflecting in here eyes!
She is so happy to have all the family there
For one day at least, we won't even have a care.

After the holiday is over, the kids will be back in school,
Studying and learning and practicing the Golden Rule.
They are looking forward to Christmas, with all the pretty lights,
Caroling and laughing, enjoying all the holiday sights.

Christmas shopping and seeing Santas everywhere,
Buying gifts for each other and don't forget to share
With those who are less fortunate and have no Christmas tree,
When they open up your gift, they'll smile so happily.

This is the season to be jolly but many will be sad,
They will be missing their families and the wonderful times they had.
With all the tragedy they suffered just three months before--
For them it seems so hopeless, they don't smile much anymore.

Tell them about that little Baby who came to set us free
And maybe some day they will begin to see...
He will always be there to guide them as they grow,
We know this is true 'cause the Bible tells us so!

GOD HAS BLESSED US ALL WITH HIS GIFT.

"WHISPERS IN THE PINES"

Hand in hand we walk together
down a path we've strolled before.
Underneath the lonesome pine trees
on the mossy forest floor.

We've been friends and we've been lovers
but now we have to part
where ever you go you'll always know
you'll take a piece of my heart.

Our lives have taken different roads.
We each have made our choice.
I know you hate to leave me now
I hear it in your voice.

Let us remember the good times
and all the fun we've had.
Let us remember this moment
and let us never feel sad.

Now comes the time for parting
we must loosen the tie that binds.
Kiss me fondly and say "goodbye"
as the wind whispers through the pines.

Whispers echoing through the pines
"goodbye, my love, goodbye."
You'll be with me in memory
until the day I die.

"MOUNTAINS ARE BEAUTIFUL"

With all the many trees.
As the leaves blow in the cold breeze.
In the winter the snow falls on the ground.
As the people crunching snow as they go down
the hill, sure makes a Happy sound.
Children rolling in the snow.
They raise up and throw a ball,
and to their parents they call!

"AUTUMN"

Autumn, a masterpiece, a glowing piece of art
Its colors warm the spirit, fill an empty heart

Pumpkins in the orchards, looking oh so bright
Seasonal happy moon, lighting up a chilly night

Thank God for this season, its such a special gift
In this time of sadness, it gives our lives a lift

Our freedoms are at risk, we must remain aware
Seasons remain the same, their beauty oh so rare

Think of their different faces, unique in every way
Beautiful warmth of summer, a glorious beach day

Cold of winter, snow flakes forming on the ground
Flowers of spring, beautiful bright colors do abound

Then its back to Autumn, days shorter than the rest
Thanksgiving holiday ahead, its the season’s best

So let’s rejoice today, and fill our hearts with glee
Join the world of hopeful hearts, pray along with me

"TRUST IN GOD"

Gone is the sense of being safe
when I wake in the morning light
Now there's a feeling of hopelessness
like a bad dream in the night~~
Gone is the tranquil sereneness
a tension takes over my mind
How I wish I could escape these things
go to some other world and unwind~~
But, the thoughts are always with me
a reason that somehow fails
Will I ever regain the security
while this haunting sadness prevails~~
I must pull myself together
lay the problems at heavens door
Remember the good times of the past
and rely on GOD as before~~

2 Samuel 22:3~~in Him will I trust

"GOD PROTECT US"
(In our Need)

This horrific attack has served to:
Unite all Americans
Unite most of the World
Overflow our churches...
God Protect Us

Our children now live in fear
Worrying what will be their future
Some no longer having parents
To guide them through childhood
God Protect Us

Families all grieving...
Their lost family members
Life will never be the same...
We pray for them and grieve with them.
God Protect Us

Will we ever live in peace and security again?
Will we fly without a trickle of fear?
Will we ever feel safe?
We have to teach our children to live without fear.
God Protect Us

Time heals all wounds,
But that terrible day will never be forgotten.
Every American life will be tainted
With remembrance for all our lost souls.
God Protect Us

God Bless our military
Guide the powers that be
To protect the innocent
Bring them all safely home to their families.
God Protect Us.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Dedicated to all families who lost loved ones.

"September 11, 2001 and Beyond"

We lost some innocents that Tuesday, Lord;
they died, and didn't even know why.

Heartache has beset our world, Lord;
have mercy upon us -- please try.

Oh, spare all the innocents you can, Lord;
forgive us as we seek an eye for an eye.

Freedom and peace have been scarred, Lord;
by a cowardly enemy's willingness to die.

Revenge is Yours sayeth You, Lord;
but a battle for justice our heroes must try.

Grant us Your blessings Oh Lord;
heroes and innocents -- our eternal home may be nigh.

One thing is for certain my Lord;
innocent, hero or enemy, now we will know why we die.

Allow us to help freedom and peace live on, Lord;
may we never again have to ask "why?".

"TERRORIST"

Terrorist have struck a mighty blow
to our democracy,
hitting the City of New York
and Washington DC.

Crazed, fanatical, and depraved
they cared not for their life,
nor for the lives of others
upon whom they wrought such strife.

The blood they spilled that morning
calls out for our revenge.
We'll do whatever we have to do,
the innocent to avenge.

When the armies have been gathered,
we shall see the fight begin.
Though it may be a struggle,
the victory we will win.

All the freedom loving countries
will join us in this fight.
Until justice has been rendered,
we'll rest not, day nor night.

Though our heads be hung in sorrow
and our hearts filled with dismay,
we'll face the future with courage
and smile again someday!

"HORROR FROM THE SKY"
September 11, 2001

What happened to our Beautiful City?
The slaughter of the innocents...such a pity.
Planes full of people on their way to vacation,
It was the worst tragedy in our nation.

Shocking to the eyes and shocking to the heart,
Where will it end? Why did it start?
All the Loved Ones saying "why" "why"
"why"?.
It's just impossible trying not to cry.

All the wonderful volunteers, to them go our cheers
Nurses, doctors, firemen and police work through their tears
Everyone looking for those whom they love,
Such terrible tragedy coming from above!

See all the people, in unity they stand!
America is still the greatest country "Our Land"
The beautiful FLAG, long may she wave,
The land of the free, the home of the brave!!

Concrete and steel, laying everywhere...
Most of the other countries showing they care
As they stand behind us one-hundred percent
Sending their encouragement through this Satanic event.

We have learned not to be so trusting of others,
As we all mourn husbands, wives, sisters and brothers.
It's the worst tragedy we ever had to face,
Whoever thought it could happen to this wonderful place?

The tourists all flocked here to join in the fun,
New York City had something wonderful for everyone.
We have always welcomed all nations and creeds
And tried to fulfill everyone's needs.

As a nation, we will rise against it all...
Some day there will be new buildings straight and tall.
But we'll never forget this day and this year
When all New Yorkers were gripped with Fear!

GOD BLESS AMERICA

"Day Of Play"

As a child on the farm,

another day of work.

"THE CRASH"

What a crash it was
I felt alone and lost
'Cause for what I cared
About the most
My puter had died
Was havin' a terrible fit
Gone were my wings to fly

But entered then a mighty man
From here in Michigan
A few desperate screams
He had me in touch again
Thanks~~Mr. Finn !

"RAINBOWS"

Early in the morning, I see rainbows everywhere,
As I brush my teeth and while I comb my hair,
Because in a sunny window, there's a crystal hanging there
Reflecting all the sunshine when the days are clear and fair.

They all look so pretty as they dance around the door,
Also on the walls and even on the floor.
I really enjoy their colors and brightness too.
They always lift my spirits as I observe their hue.

Rainbows have always been one of my favorite things
I cannot describe the feeling of joy those colors bring.
All of these pretty colors fill me with much love,
Because I know they are sent here by our God above.

So sparkle my pretty little crystal as you shine upon my face,
Spreading all your rainbows everywhere in my space.
I often think about you, even when there's rain
Because I know you'll soon be back to reflect your beauty again!

What Today Will Bring?
We've had many songs to sing.
So much happiness and joy,
Many views to employ.
 Beautiful dreams we have spun.
My life has been fun.
Our wonderful times in the sun.
We share as one.

"LOST AND FOUND"

I found an earring that I lost,
it was lying on the floor.
I found my hat that had been tossed
on a chair beside the door.

In the pocket of my raincoat,
I found my extra keys
and a market list that I wrote
to remind me to buy cheese.

It wasn't hard to find my book,
I found it easily.
But even when I look and look,
I never can find ME!

"In Memory Of"

This month in 1960 I became your wife.
I thought we would grow old together but God had other plans.
We had our wedding at my house my family gathered round.
I can still see your beautiful brown eyes as you smiled at me.
I never dreamed 14 years after alone I would be.
My faith in God and good friends is the reason I've survived.
The last year I have found it's not so bad to be by yourself.
As I look forward to returning home.
I know I will enjoy the early mornings sitting on my porch.
Listening to the sounds of country life.

"Perfection"

I wanted so to faultless be,
Present a perfect front,
I strove for constant graciousness
But failed-and to be blunt-
I think it is a fantasy
That one can always do
And say what is appropriate,
Do you agree that's true?
And so I find it difficult,
When having socialized,
To walk home-foot stuck in my mouth-
And no one is surprised!

"SPIDER WEB"

Outside my kitchen window
Glistening in the morning sun
A spider spun a web
Then hid away when she was done
It was covered with the morning dew
And sparkled with a radiant hue
Oh so intricate of work this art
It brought a flutter to my heart
I shall not sweep it down today
Perhaps the rain will wash it away

"PRIVILEGE"

Seagulls cry and mock the stillness
Of the morning.
I lift my head to view their soaring wings;
My heart is free,
The dawn encompasses my spirit,
I rise to meet the challenge of this day.

Who knows if I will ever see tomorrow,
Or if the world will turn again once more,
But this I know, my place on earth is sacred.

Immortal, no, but grateful for this chance
To view such beauty, I breathe a sigh
And slowly turn away.

"THE MUSIC"

He came into my life
when I was lonely,
angry,
hating God and everyone,
refusing to live,
preferring to sit
and stare into the night.
He said, "I love you.
I want to spend my life with you."
And that was music to my ears.

We married one September day,
with God and friends
beside us in our simple rites.
He said he’d love and cherish
and hold me close forever.
And that was music to my heart.

We laughed and loved and shared.
He took my daughter for his own
and said he’d love and cherish her forever.
And that was music to my soul.

Then one cold January morn,
he said he’d had enough of me.
He’d found another one to love
and he was leaving me for her.

That day, my heart broke,
The light escaped my eyes,
And the music left my soul.

"Hot Rod Peanut"

Has anybody seen my long lost sister
Who once on highways closed her eyes?
Have you heard from hot rod peanut?
Does she warble when she drives?
I have heard that she's been racing
Trucks on Interstate 75.
Did we somehow create a monster
When we convinced her she could drive?
Now her lament at being stranded
Is replaced by happy cries.
And her song of joy rings down the highway
Since she climbs into her car and drives.

"FOR YOU ALONE"

Life plays the melodies and the tunes
That sing in my heart
Sometimes joyous and serene
Sometimes sad as we part
The music has stayed with me
Thru the years and days
For this is my solitude
Be what it may
'Tis the music of my soul
I give to you, and you alone

"MUSIC"

The waltzs have always been a favorite of mine,
All their lovely melodies in three-quarter time.
Years ago people listened to them free after dark
In a gazebo where they played in the park.

People would come with their families and chairs,
As they enjoyed the music, they forgot their cares.
A family outing like this just couldn't be beat,
And all this was free and a very special treat.

I also enjoyed the music of a big band--
These were popular throughout our land.
Even our parents seemed to love this special sound.
When we heard them play, we had to dance around.

This great music existed during the war years,
So the lovely songs were often mingled with tears.
Every couple had their own special song,
And after the war, those melodies lingered long.

"DANCE MUSIC"

Some music makes you move,
with muscles, you never knew you had.
So lets' get in the groove.
All around the floor lovin that jazz.
We get'n the moods, with good old Blues.
And one time, we even had swing,
with the guy of our dreams,
Many of us can still jitterbug,
never close enough,
for a little old hug.
A little two step, was unique,
but it'll soon put you to sleep.
If you ever did the twist,
most would wind-up with a lisp
If my old rocking chair don't unfold.
I can still do a bit, of rock and roll.

"NATURES' SYMPHONY"

Music came drifting in the wind,
I listened as the song begin,
from high atop the apple tree
song birds were singing joyously.
I never heard a strident note
for they sang a song the Master wrote.
My cares and sorrows slipped away
as I heard them sing that day.
No one can ever sing for me
a song in greater harmony,
and I begin to appreciate
the things God made, both small and great.
The music of man can never be
as grand as Natures' Symphony.

"DREAM MUSIC"

Out of nowhere came the sound
of music to my ears
A song that brought back memories
and filled my eyes with tears

A haunting melody so sweet
I listened for a while
Then brushed the gentle tears away
before my lips could smile

I started to recall a time
beside a flowing stream
But the thoughts that came into my mind
were just a faded dream

Now again it has escaped me
and I may never learn
What sweet memory so fleeting
dream music did return

"AUTUMN

It's time for the "Hummingbirds" to go,
such a long way you know.
Far away from the cold snows.
As I watched them today.
My pretty red hummer got in the way.
A larger gray bird was there as prey.
then another, and another,
Oh!! here's one to stay.
Now its ok, here's big brother.
on the scene to play.
Our nights are getting Brisk,
and soon with a whisk,
they're on their way,
to their warmer homes,
where they will stay,
till April and May.

"COLORS OF AUTUMN"

Summertime's soon ending, you can tell this by the trees,
See all the pretty colors appearing in the leaves.
The days are getting cooler, you can feel the nip in the air
And it won't be long now before the trees are standing bare.

The summer birds are leaving, winter birds are in sight,
The days are getting shorter, it's darker earlier every night.
Summer is a memory, colored mums are blooming everywhere;
Squirrels are busy gathering nuts, hiding them here and there.

Autumn is quickly coming, get the sweaters and jackets out,
Colored leaves are swirling and blowing all about.
I feel sad to see the summer fleeing quickly by,
It went so quickly...what happened to July?

You can see the pumpkin patches as you drive by a farm,
There's nothing like a pumpkin patch to give the landscape charm.
Soon we'll be looking at them all carved into gruesome faces,
As you drive around they'll be appearing in lots of spooky places.
Welcome Autumn 2001!

"AUTUMN LEAVES"

One of the seasons that's best of all,
In my mind at least, is a colorful fall.
Blazing oranges, reds and browns,
Lending majestic beauty to our towns.

Trees and bushes in every hue,
Bursting with dazzling splashes too,
Like paint brushes gone suddenly wild
My eyes view the scene like a wide-eyed child.

Remembering the times when we'd romp and play
In piled up leaves, almost every day,
Then they were burned under a harvest moon
And I knew, winter was coming soon.

Those days are still with me, even though,
I am getting older, hair white as snow.
Autumn leaves bring back to me
Colorful days, so happy and free.

"AUTUMN"

It was autumn when we first met,
a day I never shall forget.
You tipped your hat and spoke to me,
You were as handsome as could be.

I said "hello" and gave a smile,
you came and sat with me awhile
there on a blanket in the park,
we sat and talked 'til after dark

I saw a lot of you that fall,
seems like every day you came to call.
The spark of love became a flame
and nothing ever was the same.

Winter passed and in early spring
you placed on my hand a diamond ring.
When summer came we said "I do"
and thus began my life with you.

Since autumn is here once again,
my mind goes back to that day when
we sat together in the park
and ignited loves' fiery spark.

Now autumn will forever be
a very special time for me.
Though time has passed and you are gone,
in memory our love lives on.

"AUTUMN THOUGHTS"

It's Autumn
And the school bell rings
The geese fly south
A cardinal sings
Picnic lunches
Are being made
For one last fun day
In the shade
Parades are moving
Down the street
Bands are playing
A marching beat
But my very favorite
Thing of all
Is seeing the leaves
Change in the Fall
From green to yellow
Red and brown
Enjoying the colors
Before they come down
Hearing the farmers
Harvest the yields
The scent of burning leaves
In the fields
I'm anxious for September
And this is the reason
Autumn is such
A wonderful season

"Summertime"

Over the hills summertime has come.
The birds are nesting and the honey bees hum.

The sky is so beautiful and blue
Reflecting on the water a deeper hue.

From flower to flower the humming bird flitters.
The fields are alive with butterflies and critters!

At dusk we see the flashing of the firefly
And above the Big Dipper hangs in the summer sky.

Enjoy the warmth and the beauty summer brings
In all God's creation that blooms and sings.

"Golden Threads"

Woven through the tapestry of our lives are threads of gold.
Some are short, some long, some new and many very old.

Each gleaming strand, regardless of its size,
Represents the many friends through out our lives.

Short threads are people who quickly came and went
But to our lives much warmth they lent.

Many are still being woven even after fifty years.
Through parting, very special ones have been touched by our tears.

I tenderly clasp my tapestry to my breast
Thanking God for the friends with whom I've been blessed.

"Colors of Summer"

The bright YELLOW glow of the sun
The ocean’s AQUA waves are such fun
The BLUE of the sky at high noon
The BLACK sky to show off the moon
The PINK flowers smelling of musk
The Red sunset we love at day’s dusk
The smell of GREEN grass as they mow
The masterpiece like no other we know
The GRAY clouds before each storm
The Rainbow of colors takes form
The artist renowned, the greatest of all
Repeats his magic, spring, winter, & fall

"Peggy"

With love, Pinky

Peggy was like moonbeams, dancing on the water, such beauty, just a glitter of the rays.

She was a cloud drifting across the sky, slowly changing shapes, simply moving into the distance,
not staying in one spot, allowing the wind to be its master.

Peggy’s beauty didn’t stop at her facial features, but was deeply imbedded in her soul. Ones
eyes, could not help but notice the long, thick, luster of her hair. The way it would hang on her
shoulders or in a pony tail, bouncing from side to side as she ambled down life’s highway, her
posture so straight and her presence so clarifying to her own life. Few missed the class, this
woman expelled. She could carry her own weight in any situation and did in a meaningful way.
As one looked into Peggy’s eyes, you could not help but see the window of her soul, she was bare
to the world, but so few noticed.

Peggy was a dreamer, searching for the reality of her being and not quite sure how to find it.
How does one sum up a life, she shared her life with only a hand full of people, never allowing
outside influences to determine what road she needed to travel.

Her son, Danny, the diamond in her life, the one being that will allow her memory to live on. The
love that Peggy had for her son will always shine thru his eyes. He was the love of her life.

Anyone fortunate enough to be touched by Peggy was indeed blessed. Peggy gave of herself in a
way that leaves a legend, a motto to live by: it is always more blessed to give, than to receive. God
loves Peggy more than we could ever imagine, and I know that He, in all of His love and wisdom,
welcomed her into His kingdom, where peace abides.

Peggy will never die; her spirit will live on forever.

"Colors of Summer"

Cerulean skies! A searing white hot sun magnifies, intensifies the
drabness of the landscape
bleaching the dust covered leaves of the creosote bushes so they take on
a grayish cast
almost disappearing into the dull, brown, dry baked earth.
The brown Ocotillo stems stand out starkly like burned out sentinels
against the vivid blue of the sky.
The pale green cactus is hardly noticeable as it shrinks into itself
wrinkling like an old prune.
The desert seems to be holding its breath in silent anticipation.
Nothing moves in the colorless landscape.
Then it begins! The sky darkens to a pale gray, quickly changing to
charcoal gray and
the life giving rains begin. Crystal clear raindrops wash the dust away
and when the sun comes out
the tiny creosote leaves sparkle till the sun dries them again.
The smell of the desert is so pleasantly intense it can almost be seen
and our senses are awakened and revitalized by the storm.

"COLORS OF SUMMER"

As I gaze out my window, I can view
Colors like red, yellow, pink, green and blue...
All growing in that small little space,
I can see monardo, primroses and pansy's sweet face.

Working in the garden, brings me much tranquility
As I admire each lady bug, toad and buzzing bee.
The sky is so blue, the grass is so green...
It pleases my heart to feel so serene.

I'm sorry the summers are over too soon,
As I listen to each little bird singing its tune.
The breeze falls welcome on my face,
As on my knees, I work in this place.

As I rush out each morning to see what is new,
The window boxes jammed with every new hue.
The butterflies are fluttering from flower to flower,
I could just stand here and watch them by the hour.

"Colors"

By Maggie

Ahh…. the beauty of blue skies, sunshine beaming in thru a sparkling window and the
breeze softly moving the simple curtains hanging there. One has to look long and hard to
find a feeling more comforting.

The birds in all of their glory, colors, many of them, from the red-breasted robin to the
simple black bird, each with their own destiny before them, enjoying the simple feast of
nature. All of this comes together to make for the colors of summer.

Waves ruffling the sand on a long stretch of beach, the many different shells lying there,
just waiting for admiring hands to hold them, to bring a touch of beauty and color to ones
world.

Yes, the colors of summer are enormous, flowers of many rainbow shades, all things
alive enjoying this single moment in the shadows of their lives. The soft rains that fall on
one side of the street and not the other, all eyes are envious of the mighty rainbow that
beholds the side of the soft rains.

At the break of day, as the sun rises in the east, the awe of the mighty blaze and the
colors of the sky and at the end of the day, standing on the beach and watching the sun
slowly slip into the shadows of the water….what beauty…the moon slowly rises and takes
its place to continue with the colors.

"THE COLORS OF SUMMER"

The colors of summer are orange and peach
Purple of grapes on the vines out of reach
Gold from the sun shining so bright
Dark navy sky as it gets close to night

Red white and blue when the 4th of July
The stars and stripes of the flag passes by
Shimmer of silver waves in the heat
Tan grains of sand on a child's bare feet

Pale green grass before we mow
Pink wild flowers that wave to and fro
Bright red apples growing on a tree
Yellow butterflies on wings flying free

And altogether a beautiful sight
The colors of summer, a rainbow so bright

Friends always listen without fear
Friends will walk a mile for you
Friends bring joy, and flowers too
Friends defend you when you’re down
Friends will even drive you to town
Friends take the good times and even the bad
Friends lift your spirits when you’re sad

Be a friend, loyal, honest and true blue
Be a friend, helpful, caring, and loving too
Be a friend, no matter the time of the day
Be a friend, never listen to what others say
Be a friend, a gift to the young and the old
Be a friend, to the restless and even the bold
Be a friend, spring, winter, summer, and fall
Be a friend, it makes one stand solid and tall

"Mysterious Secrets Of The Mind"
@ Judith E Szajek
The wind blows softly through your mind
whispering secrets you can't quite hear.
You strain to listen but the sound of the wind
overpowers its' own words. If the wind would diminish
just a little perhaps you would be able to translate
the whispers into intelligent thoughts.
But the wind continues swirling through your mind
and the words evade you. Why can't you grasp
the meaning of the words? Shouldn't the wind
be blowing the fog away? I see the struggle
in your eyes, the confusion. Even the Will Power
you were so proud of doesn't help you now.
The wind finally diminishes. The fog turns to mist.
The sun comes out burning the mist away!
Your eyes are beginning to look more peaceful.
The wind must have died. I see a smile on your face now.
The struggle must be over and you can resume
your conversation with me.

"Payton At Play"

I sit and watch Payton running
catching fireflies
Laughing
as they tickle her small hands
Then letting them fly free
to glow in the warm evening air
Dancing---twirling in circles
Dizzily tumbling into a heap
To rest but a moment
Then off again
with an energy lost to me
Chasing that brand new puppy
'til he rolls head over heels
She flops down beside him
He licks her face
and brings giggles of delight
And now we must go in
because it is night

"Emotion"

To some, it is the wildness of dance
to others, it is the grace of ballet,
maybe the funky beat of a rap song
or a New York orchestra.
the rising sun over the ocean

but for me
it is the way the corners of your lips
turn up when I am near you.

"Wishes and Dreams"

If my wishes ruled the world,
a garden would exist for us,
surrounded by a high wall
covered with ivy...and honeysuckle...
and it would only rain as the plants needed,
and at night... softly...and always be cloudless
when the moon shown bright and full...
with gentle breezes stirring the night air,
softly bringing the sweet scent of blossoms
and the tender whispers of lovers
to those who would smell.. and hear..
and dream... and wish.. for loves of their own.

"Building Walls"

Something there is that wants to build a wall,
To keep intruders out lest they invade
Our privacy, compelling our recall
Of memories we hoped would finally fade.
Oh for a wall that we might hide behind,
And fence out every wayward thought that comes
Reminding us that we will never find
Escape from much that still our brain benumbs:
Ingratitudes that fill us with such shame,
Deceits we practiced to fulfill our pride,
Betrayals that new burn our soul with flame,
Realities and Truths we have denied.
And yet, should such a wall we really build,
Humanity within us would be killed.

"SUMMER MEMORIES"
(Life in a small town)

Sleeping outdoors under a blanket held up by chairs.
Staying up after the sun had set.
Catching frogs, minnows and lightening bugs.
Searching for wild strawberries in a field high with grasses.
Playing out in the barn when it rained.
Riding my bike for hours on end.
Helping harvest my parents’ berry crop.
Joining the neighborhood kids in a pick-up game of baseball, our rules.
Staying overnite at my grandmother’s.
Digging soft-shelled clams and roasting them over a driftwood fire.
Wandering along the shoreline and wondering what was beyond the horizon
Picnicking with my family.
Feeding marshmallows to chipmunks.
Watching Fourth of July parades and fireworks.
Haying for fun.
Harvesting eggs from warm chicken nests.
Playing cowboys and Indians with my cousin.
Watching my mother can fruits and vegetables for the long winter ahead.
Riding two hours to shop for “school clothes”.
Dreading the time when bedtime came before the sun set.
Rooting for Yankees to win the World Series.

"TREASURE A FRIEND"

A Friend is a Special gift from God,
Who understands where you have trod.
She'll call you when you're feeling blue,
And always keep on loving you.

She'll be there whenever it seems...
That something bad has shattered your dreams.
She'll hold your heart in gentle hands,
To let you know she understands.

She can be the greatest gift of all
Always responding to your beckoned call,
As you show her the very best you can do.
She'll always be there just loving you.

So you see, a Friend can be better than gold,
Especially when you are growing old.
You can reminisce when friendship was new
Of all the memories she made with you.

"A One and Only Friend"

Such a wonderful friend,
she's always been.
It's still so new,
as the morning spring dew
a taste of good friendship, such a few,
Feelings, pleasing, savory,
never a maybe.
A success, to impress,
I'm so well blessed.
A being, truly kind,
well defined, gracefully refined.
Many thoughts and pleasures
we shall forever treasure.
Never to blind,
by untruths nor pine.
This precious friend of mine,
our friendship entwined.

"TO MY FRIEND"

A treasured friend you've been to me.
We've been as close as friends could be.
You've listened to my tales of woe
and wiped the tears that freely flowed.
You gave me hope and sympathy
whenever times were tough for me.
You've shared my joy, you've shared my pain
through days of sunshine, days of rain.
I could search the world and never find
anyone as loving or as kind.
Of all the things of which I boast,
a friend like you I treasure most.
I hope somehow that I can be
the kind of friend you've been to me.

"God's Gift"

How can we last without friendships
We need them to get through life
To help us enjoy the good times
And see us through times of strife

A friend is someone to talk to
When everything seems to go wrong
Or someone who'll just sit with you
And enjoy your favorite song

A good friend will be there for you
Share all the good times and bad
They always want to cheer you up
To keep you from feeling sad

My best friend understands me
And listens to what I say
She makes me feel good about myself
And brightens my dullest day

So, thank you God for giving us
Someone who'll always be there
You knew we would need our friendships
You gave us someone to care

"Summer Love"

So long ago it was the summer of my life
You and I had met in our spring
We became inseperable as we spent each waking moment together
We enjoyed the springtime as we grew together
Suddenly summer arrived and love came in
We vowed always to share our lives with one another
And so it was that summer as we played at the games all lovers play
Stolen kisses and warm embraces and words of passion
The nights of the torrid summer spent together
Only our love, was hotter than the nights
We walked in the moonlight
And drove from place to place then parked by the river
Where we watched the barges and the boats drift past
The heat of the summer nights all too soon faded into autumn
The nights cooled as did our summer love
Never to be forgotten

"Summertime of Long Ago"

Meant going barefoot,
Wading in the cool creek
Tending fields with a hoe

Wearing a straw hat
To shield my head
From summer's sun
No baked brains please

Sudden showers in afternoon
That settled the dust,
And made the world
Smell brand new

Summertime today
Means being on my knees
Pulling weeds,
While I'm down here,
Might as well pray

Its every shade of flower
Known to mankind
Its tomatoes ripening
In the boiling sun

Perspiration running
Down my face, back,
Chest, whew!
Wipe away with shirttail

Summertime is birdsong,
And butterflies,
Grandkids playing
In the sprinkler

Summertime is
The respite from
A long, cold, forever
Winter

"SUMMERTIME"

Can't believe it has arrived, quite so fast
Hope it will be much better than the last.
It was so cold and rainy too...
There wasn't much outside we could do.

Summer is a time to relax body and soul.
Cold winter weather sure takes its toll.
Nice to enjoy long leisurely walks,
Visit with friends, have "remember when" talks.

Renew old Friendships, make some new,
Time to enjoy things you always wanted to do.
Take a nap or find a book to read,
Just give yourself a chance to get the rest you need.

Many sunny days will be coming your way,
Work in the garden, and enjoy your day.
Summer will soon be over, hope you did it all
Because you'll soon be seeing the colored leaves of fall.

"Summertime"

Summers days is barefoot time
Summers days are memories for chilled
winter nights
Summers days says now the sunshine rays
beckons outdoor
play
and play we do
Summer days with sand between our toes
Summer days where glasses harmonizes with
the
sweet taste of pink lemonade
Summer days in hammock lays while thoughts
drifted
aimlessly towards blank nothingness to only
fathom
bright awakeningness of future days ahead
Summer days makes children of us all
Oh summer days move slowly so that once
again I too can
go barefooted amongst the fields that bloom
their
brightly heads waving gleefully come play
with me

Repectfully submitted

"Summer Night"

Night has fallen
Weary from the heat of the day
I step outside
A cool breeze brushes my face
Looking up, I am spellbound
By the radiance of the stars
The vastness of the universe
Such a peacefulness
Washes over me
As summer begins

"Summertime Showers"

Slow easy showers,
and beautiful flowers.
Relaxing quietly in my swing,
watching the birds,
doing their summer thing.
Tending and mending
with much care.
Tiny gardeners and partners,
their eagerness to share.

"SUMMERTIME"

Summertime has arrived at last
freeing us from the icy blast
of winters' long unwelcome stay
chasing our winter blues away.

A myriad of flowers perfume the air.
Honey bees are buzzing everywhere.
Birds are singing their sweet song
to everyone that comes along.

To Summertime I raise a toast.
Here's to the things I love the most:
To backyard pools and barbecues
and doing only what I choose.

To children playing in the park,
chasing fireflies in the dark.
To lovers strolling hand in hand,
walking barefoot in the sand.

To fireworks on the fourth of July
blazing, bursting, high in the sky.
To baseball games and hot-dogs too,
and spending all my time with you.

"Summertime"

The sun is hot and summer
will soon be here.
I think in Florida it's already near.
In the sun we get nice tans.
But on the beach is too much sand.
Sports and Picnics in the shade of a tree.
But I prefer mountains you See!

"DREAMS"

In dreams
you are with me again,
holding me,
loving me.
We dance,
we sing,
we laugh.
I am elated,
filled with happiness.
I awake to find
it was only a dream.
I cry!!

"Dreams! Dreams"

Can be both large and small,
wish ever way your Life may call.
Dream of a Roof over your Head.
If you are Homeless with no one to care.
You may think Life has gone sour.
Dream of a European Vacation if you can afford.
Dream that your Family will be Happy and well.
I think this is the ring of the Bell.
So you see dream for different people is a different thing.

"DREAMS OF MY LIFE"

In childhood my dreams were grand.
I could fly and soar by my own hand.

Or I trembled in dread and fear
of things that hovered ever so near.

In the bright light of dawn
I'd open my eyes and the demons were gone.

So on through my life it seems
I have been intrigued by my dreams.

Never sure what they have meant.
Sometimes wondering.......was it real or dreamt?

"DREAMS"

Misty little scenes, many strange places
People passing through, can't see their faces.
Puffs of memory come into my mind,
Looking for places I never can find.

There I see a loved one, smiling happily,
I see him, but he doesn't see me.
Where is the bus, can't find the train,
Wish I was home and never lost again.

Very disturbing, these funny little dreams,
Some go on forever, that's the way it seems.
When I really get into trouble and can't find what road to take,
I suddenly open my eyes, now I'm wide awake.

These little nightly trips that make no sense at all,
And upon waking, I rarely can recall...
Are supposed to take my tensions away
So I can feel relaxed while facing my new day.

"Dream"

If you are but a dream why do I hear
Your voice and see your smile in everyone
Who passes me in the day, I see your dark
Brown eyes and golden hair
I long to be with you but yet you only come
To me when in a dream, Oh my love do you
Not know the longing I have for you do not
Hide from me and be only near in dreamland
My life is yours to share I offer to you come
I beg from the dream world into my world
Take my hand and follow me I will not lead
You astray, safe with me you shall always be
So awake my lover and come into the
Daylight with me!

"My Dream World"

When life gets to be too much
And I need to escape
I sit outside on the back deck
And stare off across the fields
I watch the heavens
Seeing clouds form into shapes
That are pleasing to my eyes
Slowly changing
Filling my mind with storybook imagination
Or, after dark
I gaze into the night sky at the stars
Dreaming that I live in some far away land-
At least for a few minutes in time

"Dreaming"

Sitting here on a beautiful lake,
wishing for a nice flowing wake.
Please, little fishes, come my way.
With my new rod and reel,
I'd love to play!!
One more nibble and I'm sure to stay.
They just tease me anyway.
The clouds are shading the Sun.
This is so relaxing and fun.
Now, don't rock the boat,
or we'll be afloat.
Into the evening, such a nice breeze,
will cover with a sheet, if you please.
So very cool and quiet,
near by, all through the night.
the sound of a softly, rippling stream.
|
Now, sleep tight, and sweet dreams.
Good Night !!

"Friend"

I have a friend, her name is Jann.
She's always there when you need a hand.
I was having a problem and to her I cried,
she appeared right by my side.
I appreciate it my dear friend.
Hope we will be friends until the end.
Love you Jann.

"THE GOOD OLE' DAYS"

Get up and eat breakfast and run out to play,
Nothing but games and fun everyday.
Call on our friends--meet them at their door
Rush outside and play some more.

"Shall we skip rope or play stick ball?
Come on out, come one and come all"
"Let's choose sides, and play in the street,
Hurry let's get started before we must eat."

After we ate, we would go down to the park,
But had to get home before it got dark.
Then we'd play a street game called Kick the Can
When someone would kick it while everyone ran.

Soon it was time to go in for the night...
Waving at each other till we were out of sight.
Looking back at all the memories we did share,
Life was so simple when we didn't have a care.

"The Good Old Days"

Back in the good old days.
They were my roaming ways.
I was lucky to have my horse.
I dared not have remorse,
when things weren't right at home,
this was our time to roam.
Many times we stayed most of the day.
All alone, my horse and I, at play.
I treasure those days,
that's where my heart will stay.
Our Guardian Angel must have been there,
watching over us where ever we dared.

"The Good Old Days"

I sat beside the river that autumn day
Was a brisk wind and the leaves were falling
And my mind floated backward in time to the day
You and I sat in the very spot so long ago
How special you were to me and I to you
We promised our undying love to one another
I looked into your eyes and my heart was yours
How sweet the kisses we exchanged and the warm
Embraces that we shared that day
Too soon we parted and promises were unkept
Tho, unkept are not forgotten, you are the Prince
In my heart, of days so long ago now gone
Dare they be "the good old days"
I sit and wonder!

Brie 6/6/01

"NOW"
The good old days?
Well-----
They're here now-
And I'm very much aware
That all my friends keep in touch
And know how much I care-
My family lives close to me
And we all have so much fun
Even tho I bumped my head
Before the picnic was done-[lol]
But, I really do appreciate these days
And, come December
No matter what will happen next
These days--I will remember !

"THE GOOD OLD DAYS"

My great grandma lived with us for a while
years ago, when I was a child.
She told of how things used to be
where she grew up in Tennessee.

"In the good old days," grandma would say,
"things were done in a different way.
We didn't have a washing machine
to get our clothes so nice and clean.

We used a scrub board in a tub.
All day long we'd rub and rub
with soap we made with grease and lye
then we'd hang them out in the sun to dry.

Our parents, three brothers, sis and me
made up a close knit family.
We had our chores but when they were done
we would make our own kind of fun.

Church suppers, square dances, picnics too,
there were many things for us to do.
One thing of which we were very fond
was skinny dipping in the pond."

She told me this with a gleam in her eye,
then she continued on with a little sigh.
"Some say those days were very rough
but I didn't find them to be so tough.

Times were hard but life was good.
I'd go back today, if I could.
Back to those early childhood ways.
To happy times in the good old days."

"The Good Old Days"

The Good Old Days they still are here,
they live in our hearts year after year.
We should not despair, but rather rejoice,
our future is destined, not our choice.
So as we awake at the dawn of each day,
paint a new canvas in a most special way.
Red, purple & green, all vibrant & bright,
brush strokes of yellow, blue & white.
Hide the dull ones, black, gray & brown,
call a friend, & go shopping in town.
Buy something new, a hat & some shoes,
to chase away those deep seated blues.
Consider today as good as the old,
approach each day with vigor, be bold.
Your painting complete, stand back to observe,
the beauty of a new day, and one you deserve.
Each day is a blessing a good day indeed,
don’t dwell on the old days there is no need.
Enjoy each new one, rejoice and be glad,
happy smiles, much laughter, never be sad.
If you must be sad, when you lose someone dear,
you will meet them again, do not fear.
So why think of days as good, bad or old
Start a new canvas watch a new day unfold.
At the end of your journey here on earth,
the world will be thankful for your birth.
If you think of each day as special, a gift,
spreading joy all around, giving others a lift.
The old days are memories, they never die,
today, a new beginning, give a thankful sigh.

"The Good Old Days"

The memories inside my head,
the joyful times, the life I lead.
Where have the years gone I often say,
where is that young girl born in May.
She hasn’t left, she still is here,
so please don’t shed a single tear.
Her hair is gray, her figure robust,
her friendship still one you can trust.
Memories put a smile on her face,
they are part of the whole human race.
Put aside the doom & gloom,
place flowers in every room.
Enjoy their beauty, their sweet smell,
give them as gifts, such memories to tell.
Loved ones will remember the day,
the beauty of your life in a special way.
If like a flower, you leave a sweet scent,
of a life full of love & indeed well spent.

"EMPTY NEST"

Our daughters got married four weeks apart,
Each one of them took away a piece of my heart.
Empty were their spaces at our kitchen table,
We finally adjusted as well as we were able.

No more loud music throughout the house,
Now everything was as quiet as a mouse.
A lot less laundry and ironing too,
I now had time, my hobbies to pursue.

We'd call to say "Hi how are you today?"
"Oh we bought some new furniture" they'd say.
"We miss you a lot, please drop by sometime"
"Oh we will" they'd say "when we have time"

Life was different, but we adjusted well.
Now we have grandchildren, gee they are swell.
They fill our hearts and give us much pleasure
And have become our greatest treasure!

"An Empty Nest"

Walking beside the splendor of the River
The evening sun descending in the west
The River a golden glow emitted with the sun
It was an typical Autumn day as leaves of fiery
Colours filled the air and fell upon the path I trod
In an old Oak tree by waters edge I spied
A nest ~~surely the Robins had made it their home
On the trip north this year ~~from which the babies
Hatched ~~were cared for and then flew on their own
So now the nest is empty, no more a home
Of baby birds or songs of their parents there but
Life goes on and next spring another pair of Robins
Will return to fill the empty nest ~~so such is life
As each leave another joins ~~the only empty nest
Is the empty heart that has never shared love with another
Be it human or animal

"Jack Rabbit's Tale"

Some habits are good, some habits are bad,
but an empty nest , Little Jack Rabbit had.
"Barren nest", you ask? "How is that a habit?"
Because it's well known that rabbits cohabit.

On a cold day's outing, in the winter, if I remember,
Jack Rabbit happened upon a smoking ember.
Not knowing how hot it was, what it was he espied,
he sat down on the ember to warm his backside.
Up he jumped, in a frenetic fit,
to see what was under his little "whatsit"!
In a dying campfire, tossed in to char,
was an old half-smoked, stinky cigar.
Fanning his rump, Jack Rabbit turned 'round,
and caught sight of the stogie on the ground.
He picked it up, gingerly and curious,
not knowing it could be quite injurious.
Placing stogie to mouth, he inhaled the smoke,
was hooked immediately, with nary a choke.

To the forest mart, hopping speedily,
He bought lots of cigars, most greedily.

Jack Rabbit now sits alone in his empty nest,
hooked on smoking the stogies, without a rest.
Family and friends deserted Jack Rabbit,
to be all alone with his odorous habit.

(The moral of this tale is sad to say,
there are not many chances in life today.
To smoke or not, is your own decision,
but beware of the difficulty of a recision.)

"Our Empty Nest"
"Has Retired"

We were blessed,
within our small nest.
Only one tiny boy and such a joy.
As the years passed we saw the last,
for he was off to school,  and car pools.
The time was soon spent,
as if a dream, without deep consent.
Now into this badly worn nest.

No more forlorn but our only grand born
In our eyes a new bright gleam.
He sashayed in just like a "King"
 to complete our contented theme
From the old nest out west,
he's filled our wishful hope chest ..

"EMPTY NEST"

No more babies to rock.
No getting up at 2:0'clock.
No busy days and sleepless nights.
No refereeing the childrens' fights.
The children are now grown
out of the nest they have flown.
Now at last I've found rest
All alone in my empty nest.

"Empty Nest "

There is a time and season for all things,
Spring cleaning, garage sales
and children leaving home,
Puts one's heart to the test,
Is there lasting joy in an empty nest?

"SHADOW"

I see my shadow at the start of each day
She looks like me but in a younger way
She has a spirit that travels wide & far
Touching people lives, like a bright star
Now you say, that sounds very strange
A caring shadow never growing in age
Often I‘m amazed, she laughs when I cry
So I ask myself, in heavens name why?
It may because she see me in true light
An older body whose spirit shines bright
When my heart weeps, a release of my sorrows
I welcome the joy of many more tomorrows
So my shadow, my friend and my guide
Stay as you are, remain staunch at my side
In the passing of time, stay young at heart
Til the end of life’s journey, we’ll never part
Into heaven we’ll travel, a time far from this day
Serving our master above, in the same loving way
Flying on high, looking down on our friends
Eternity our home, our life on earth ends
So look to your shadow at the start of each day
She is your best friend, your alter ego, I say

"The Cloud's Shadows"

Shadows above and far beyond.
this little nest belongs to the doves
of which i'm very fond
out side my window
in a tree just above
They are very content
so it seems to us
going about their business
without any fuss
From the shadows,
of the fluffy white clouds,
the cooing sounds mornful and
loud.
Soaring so gracefully,
without any fear.
The brilliance of the sun,
beams thru the clouds
so clear.
Sun rays through the tree branches
almost blinding as the doves
appear.
My presence goes unnoticed
as they are peeking
for a nest they are seeking.
Their always there,
in my despair,
silky, soft, and so white.
A downy landing,
from their flight.

"Shadows of The Past"

Dark shadows swirl around me.
I am filled with doubt and fear.
Half forgotten memories
in quiet moments...reappear.

Flickering shadows in the twilight
flash across my worried mind
bringing back unwelcome memories
of a sad and lonesome time.

I have grown so tired and weary,
my heart is filled with despair
I long for the prize that awaits me,
for no shadows will be there.

"Shadows"

I dare not turn around,
Look into the shadows of my life
The road filled with nails.
My toes crease the sun,
Shadows grasp my heels.
Let me not look back,
It is cold, lonely, hurting there

"IN THE SHADOWS"

Deep in the shadow of the old oak tree,
My love and I sat happy as could be
Having our lunch in picnic style
As I gazed at my honey's wonderful smile.

We were oh so very much in love
Sheltered by branches high above,
Remembering the time when we first met
We never guessed how good it would get.

With the war years behind us, all those years spent at sea,
Soon we would marry and start a family.
Nothing could be as bad as the past,
He was home and safe in my arms, at last.

Many years have passed since we sat by that tree...
Soon we will celebrate Anniversary number 53,
But I'll always remember that happy time,
When he carved his initials right next to mine.

"My Shadow"

She was always at my side as a
Child I played the games children do
When I would scold her for following me
As we played hide and go seek 'cause
As the Seeker would see her standing
There wagging her tail as I hid behind the bush
She was with me constantly until she left
Me at her age of twelve and I at seventeen
She looked at me with trusting eyes as the
Vet examined her, her hip was broken he told
Me best to let her sleep~~~the eternal sleep
So I made that decision then and tears I shed
So now she is in the land of pets who leave the
Ones they love, she waits there for me to cross
The Rainbow Bridge and call her name and once
More her tail will wag in excitement as she and I
Journey together again into the next world
Together my Shadow and me!

"Shadows On The Wall "

I lay here--half awake
Seeing shadows of trees
Leaves swaying in the faint Autumn breeze
Making patterns on my bedroom wall
Now still-----
Now moving, as cars rush by
Their headlights splashing a golden glow
Into the darkness
Keeping me awake
So that I see
Shadows of trees
Making patterns on the wall

"MOTHER"

Our Mother stood by us every step along the way
Until she left this earth, oh, what a dreadful day
She held us in her tender arms, when our fevers were so high
Always listened to our problems, then gave a loving sigh
Mother, why did you leave us when we needed you most
You did not see our children grow, or eat our special roast
You left us to our own devices, we felt so lost and sad
So many deep feelings, we felt we would go mad
Your precious soul traveled to the heavens high above
Never to know and enjoy your daughters’ heartfelt love
We asked the futile question, why take her in her prime
Why couldn’t we have had her for a little more time
The sadness and grief lessens, but never goes away
Our Mother lives in our hearts each and every day
The day will come for many, when Mother is no longer here
To share the love of family and friends she always held so dear
The message here is very clear, to those whose mothers live
Shower her daily with love and joy, all your hearts can give

"Who Is Peanut"?

So how is your day going? Such a
Simple little question, you have no idea
How much that simple little line means to me
It says so many things about the person who
Is doing the asking, it shows she really cares
And behind the few words are worlds of understanding
She knows the feelings we share and what each
Means to the other~~is between the lines we read
The heart of one for the other~~secrets deep into our souls

We share and meant for no other~~if I can only
Have her love but for a few months a few years or until
The end of time I know that I am the better for her loving
Patience~~~~ honesty~~~forgiveness~~~what more need
Be said to explain this Friend who I happen to love

"Summer's Here"

Here come the bugs, here come the bees..
Look up and see the birds in the trees.
Everyone is busy doing what they know best..
Ants building hills, bees gathering nectar, birds making nests.

Flowers are popping out everywhere you look,
The fish are all busy swimming in the brook.
The fern unwinding their graceful fronds
The mallards and the swans beautiful in the ponds.

Look over there---birds learning how to fly...
So many visions to enjoy are pleasing to the eye.
The bees are making honey so delicate and sweet...
The mocking bird is singing, a new dawn to greet.

The robins searching for worms, over there's a mourning dove,
The nightingale is singing it's beautiful song of love.
There are so many sights to see, I can hardly take it in,
I just love this time of year, glad to see it all begin.

"REMEMBERED DREAM"

I seem to remember
A time long past
When I strolled with my love
Through the snow covered grass-
We talked and laughed
As we walked hand in hand
'Midst the sparkling
Sun speckled wonderland-
The plans that we made
And those feelings of trust
Lost in a faded memory
Now covered with dust-
Was he only a dream
Some fantasy guy
Then why does he reflect
In the many tears I cry
'Cause whenever it snows
And the ground sparkles white
Off in the distance
I see a faint light-
And then I remember
That lost love of mine
As only a memory
A shadow in time-

"THE SUNRISE"

As I watch the early morning sunrise
I feel a passionate longing for the new day.
A curious kinship with all living creatures.
Time seems to stand still.
Even the song birds are silent.
Mother Nature waits with abated breath
as the fiery red sun emerges above the horizon
illuminating the earth with its brilliance.
Another day has arrived,
bright and clear.
The birds resume their singing.
With a grateful sigh....I welcome the day.

"A Bad Time"

When I'm down and out,
and want to pout .
Such an inner fight,
for dear life.
All alone in my sight.
Always so near,
why are things not clear.?
They will not sub-side,
but only slide,
with no place to hide..
Another bad day has ,
almost passed.
Why does this feeling,
linger and last?
A dim flickering of life,
now appears,
that helps my fears.
A very warm glow
begans to flow,
and very slow,
if only to stay,
for one more day,
then maybe another,
will show me the way,
i'll try not to stray.

"The Many Colors of a Rainbow"

The glory of colors sitting in the sky, they go
from the very deepest to the light, or is the light
to the deepest; I guess it all depends on how
one looks at the beauty.

A graduation of college students was taking
place on Mother’s Day, the area filled with all
kinds of excitement and anticipation, never
knowing what the day will bring, much less
the future of these fine young (and old)
people..
The graduates sat with much pride, a tent to
cover them from the forces of nature, sitting on
top of a mountain, with the wind blowing and
chilling air surrounding each of us.

Outside the tent, were many people, including
me, as I sat in wonderment straining to hear
the well renowned “Granny D” speak, after
all this woman walked 3200 miles, across our
great country, yes, each of us strained to listen
to her words of wisdom.

The clouds were prevailing in our fair blue skies, out of
nowhere; a rainbow appeared and gave its o.k. to all that
would behold its sight, what a wonderful attribute to pay,
not only to the grads, but, also to the patriotic stand of a
grand woman,,,,a rainbow, such glory. Could one ask for
more, colors so prevailing that the beauty took ones breath
away and let them dwell on the powers of nature and not
man.

"LOVE TRYST"

They held hands across the table
in a dimly lit cafe.
A place carefully chosen,
out of sight and far away.

They had no right to be together,
or say the loving words they said.
For even though they loved each other,
to another they were wed.

They had to keep their love a secret
out of mind and out of sight.
These stolen moments were so precious,
they made the whole world seem right.

With a lingering kiss they parted.
Each one going their separate way,
back to their home and families.
Right or wrong.....who can say?

"My "Daughter"

If I but had a child such as you
How many dreams there would be
To share the joy of mother and daughter
You were not borne of me but you are my child
I have loved you as my very own from the first moment
I looked into your beautiful baby eyes
The years flew quickly past and you now
No longer the darling little girl you were
You are now the beautiful woman who turns
The eyes of all who see you
So on the day for mother's came and you put
Your arms around me and said I love you
My heart was filled with gratitude and love
I thank God He gave me you to love
For you are my child in my heart as
You shall always be, my sweet little girl
Now the beautiful young woman you have become
May God always carry you in His Hands
My darling "daughter" I love you so!

"MY MOTHER"

She is my Mother, she is, also, yours
She prays for me to the Son of God
Through Her I have received so many blessings
For all I am so thankful, when I am lost
She comes and shows me the way
Many times I have failed Her, but being the sweet and
Forgiving Mother, She is always with me in spirit
And, always showing me the path I should lead
Her patience is a wonder, her love unending for me
I pray some day we shall meet in heaven, She is the
Mother of Jesus Christ, She is my heavenly Mother
As She is to all.

"Alzheimer's "

The house, no longer her home,
barren, but for a few odds and ends.
Day after day, the house sits alone,
once filled with recipes and sewing patterns.

Of her memories, few remain;
fragmented shards of crystal balloons.
Mom's house has become her bane;
empty, shuttered, recollections denied.

"MOM"

Hi Mom, I've missed you lately
It's been so very long
Since I could call you on the phone
When everything went wrong-
You used to reassure me
And wipe away my tears
Those times that I was all mixed up
And filled with doubts and fears-
Did I ever make you worry?
I'm sorry if I did
But, you know, I think you understood
'Cause I was just a kid-
You never saw my babies
The last two that were born
But, the other three remember you
Even now, that they are grown-
Now, tears are sliding down my face
'Cause I'm feeling kind of blue
Another Mother's Day is here
Another, without you
But, it's alright, I have a sense
I feel your presence near
Your hand is on my shoulder
And I know that you are here--
I love you Mom--

A Tribute to
Jann-Our Flower of the Month

Our Flower-Jann

Jann is the sweetest flower of all
She's always so patient whenever we call.
She listens to everything we need to say
And is willing to help in any way.

She is prettier than a budding rose...
And works hard to keep us on our toes.
She encourages us all along the way...
So we can write the poem to be sent in today.

She's there to help us every Friday night,
Hoping our poem will be a delight.
We all try to do our very best,
Hope everyone enjoys them--that's the test!

So here's to Jann whose always there,
And she really shows us she does care,
As so faithfully she types up our latest treasure
Hoping they will bring to all much pleasure.

Love ya Jann.

"Two Roses"

The time had come to cleanse my home of
Unneeded items and long ago mementoes
And as I wandered thru the items I had held dear
A book long forgotten I discovered on a top shelf
Tucked behind the photo albums and the sovereigns
Of seasons and events now long past from memory
The book was by Elizabeth Barrett Browning such
Romantic poems she and Robert wrote, my favorites
As I lifted the book from its resting place the pages
Separated and from it fell a Rose! A White Rose pressed
By a young girl so in love many years ago
My interest now aroused I again turned the page
A Red Rose pressed between two blank pages
And written there were the words spoken so long ago
"You are my one pure and passionate love
Please be mine, For I love you so" it was not signed
It did not need a signature for it was the shy young man
Who had hurriedly passed the book to me as he boarded
The train that took him to war, the answer I wished to give
Had never been received for he was never to return
To me , to love nor to life.
How sweet the White Rose and Red Rose given from his
Heart to mine, is it true time heals? I wonder!

"SWEET LILACS"

Sweet lilacs, a flower of May
Vibrant colors, scent of the day
Purple, white & even wine red
It makes me so light in the head
May, my favorite month of the year
Lightens my spirit, my eye forms a tear
Here for a brief stay, how sad, I say
I rejoice nonetheless, you brighten my day
Sweet lilacs, your beauty so rare
Stay a bit longer, if you dare

We could add a day, or maybe a week
So your luscious blossoms we could seek
Enjoying the nectar of your sweet flower
Would give us a feeling of such power
As we think of waiting yet another year
It puts us in such a state of fear
So let us ask our power above
Send us a spiritual message, maybe a dove
To sprinkle the lilacs with magic dust
Another day, another week, make it a must

"Wild Flowers"
by Maggie

The flowers that are planted, with such pride and thought flourish at the
masters touch, never failing, colors all set to compliment one another.
The bulbs are planted in the fall and stay while the snow and ice provide
protection from the winters fury.

Petals open and aromas of beauty fill the air, roses, gardenias, lillies of all
colors and forms, ah, the sweetness of a garden, the master's work comes
full circle and the pride beams from the eyes of the be holder.

Across the street, lies a field of wild flowers, each brought to its destiny
by the freeness of the wind, a view for all to see and captivate on. Flowers
of all colors, sizes and shapes fill the empty area with their glory and
wonder. One stares in total awe of the mystery that has brought these
flowers for one and all to enjoy.

So much like life, one is planned and worked out to the moment, while
another is floating in the wind and wondering where their feet will land,
exploring fields of wild flowers in wonderment.

"FLOWERS"

My house is filled with flowers, in various arrays
In vases, & in wreaths, adding joy to all my days
When I am blue, ill or when I’m feeling sad
Beauty all around me & I begin to feel glad
Yes glad is a feeling, I learned that in my youth
Especially when I saw my shiny new tooth
When I saw my first born, shriveled like a prune
I saw her special beauty, & sang a happy tune
Look around you, at the flowers in your life
Your children, friends & even your wife
Like a bee or butterfly, smell the sweet scent
Flowers all around you, an exciting accent
Think of life without a flower in bloom
It would be depressing & add so much gloom
Flowers & people alike in many ways
So let’s look forward to many more Mays
Mays filled with beautiful flowers galore
Tell me dear friends, need we ask for more

"WILD FLOWERS"

I see a field of wildflowers
Blowing to and fro
In the morning breeze
Bright reds and yellows
Pale pastels of pink and purple
Amid green leaves and tall flowing grass
Blending together
A picture of serenity
Calm and soothing
I feel at peace

"Rose"
DID YOU KNOW?

Flowers are the language of Love?
Given to us by our Lord above...
They are part of everything that gives us pleasure,
No wonder they are one of our greatest treasures.

At weddings, anniversaries and babies' birth too,
Rainbow colors, white, lilac, pink and blue.
In our garden we feed and water them so they grow-
Nothing can add as much beauty, I love them so.

There are World-wide gardens where you see the best,
A beautiful vision to the eye, a place where you rest-
So many colors, so many shapes, lovely fragrance too-
Carnations, roses, lilacs and pansies--colors of every hue.

So open your eyes, look around wherever you go...
Window boxes, flower pots, any place they can grow.
Take in all their beauty spring, summer and fall
Their colors keep on changing, enjoy one and all.

"A ROSE"

A rose from a lover is the fashion,
white for purity, red for passion.
A wondrous beauty to behold,
it's fragrance warming the heart and soul.

He gave me a red rose, I felt such emotion,
He vowed to me his endless devotion.
Beware!! Beware!! I should have been warned,
I grasped the rose and was pricked by a thorn.

JOLIEA 4/29/01

"Flowers"

Flowers in my garden grew
Not one or two but quite a few.
And then the rotten chickens came
Scratched them all up! Such a shame.
Flowers here and flowers there
Those flowers flew ‘bout everywhere.
So when all those chicks were done
Not a flower, not a one!
Now my gardens very bare
Not a flower anywhere!

"Grandma-In-Waiting"

Who are you little stranger
In your warm and cosy place
Nine month's too long for me to wait
To look upon your face

Who are you little stranger
Will you love me when you come
Will you let me tell you fairy tales
Make a puppet of my thumb

Who are you little stranger
Will you let me hold you near
Will you come to me for laughter
Will you let me wipe your tear

Who are you little stranger
For that matter who am I
Let's both find out together
It won't be hard to try

'Cause you are made of part of me
And I am part of you
So with your tiny hand in mine
There's nothing we can't do

"WILL SUMMER COME "?

It seems so long since Autumn was here...
With it's Jack-O-Lanterns spreading good cheer.
The beautiful colorful leaves put on their show...
But much too soon the season had to go.

Winter came and we had days of ice and snow
It made it very difficult to be on the go.
It seemed as though it would never end,
And we all hoped Spring was just around the bend.

Well, that is taking much too long...
I'm anxious to hear the birds in song.
Soon they'll be starting to build their next
And the tulips and daffodils will be at their best.

But Summer, dear Summer, "Are you coming or not?"
Soon we'll be complaining "My it's so hot!"
We are always looking for the new season to begin,
Instead of enjoying the one we are currently in!

Rosemart-April 26, 2001

"Minute by Minute"

I start each day wondering, what the hours will hold?
Will the sun shine brightly, or will it be cold?
Do I clean, bake a cake or leap for joy?
Should I go shopping for that new baby boy?
I stop my questioning, allow myself a rest
Why put myself through this dreadful test?
Deep inside my heart I know I should let go
Not let the thought of time become my bitter foe
“Minute by minute” is what I decide to say
Ease the pain of planning yet another day
Life has no guarantees, our fate not ours to know
Be free; enjoy what comes you way, even the snow
Yes, we cannot predict what fate has in store
When death will come knocking at our door
So prepare each day to shun the devil’s wrath
Showering love & joy along life’s gentle path

"A Dress for Karli"

I had a little helper when making Karli's dress,
I will not tell you who yet, I'll see if you can guess.
Everything was ready, so I could begin,
when Karli yelled out loudly, "Look who's coming in!"
It was my little Seri girl, big trouble with a T,
We knew we had to put her out or sewing would not be!
OUT SERI!
I measured and I pinned, and got the dress cut out,
All ready to sew now, when I heard Karli shout!
"She got back in and grabbed the thread so quick!"
Karli didn't know that Seri knew each and every trick!
So Karli scolded Seri but Seri did resist, and
Karli thought that she had won, but Seri did persist.

Back outside went Seri, now Karli knew she'd won
But my little Seri girl wasn't nearly done.
For the moment all was quiet, then Seri got back in and ran
right to the sewing machine and grabbed the box of pins.
I yelled at her to drop them and Seri did comply
but not before each straight pin was scattered far and nigh.

She knew she was in trouble and headed to the door,
but not before she scattered all the pins upon the floor.
Now the dress is finished, this story’s finished too.
We'll have to wait another day to see what Seri'll do!

"New Week"

Monday, the start of a new week
And tho last week wasn't so bad
This one is going to be better
I'm going to do all that I said--
First, I will take down the curtains
And clean all the windows, both sides
The sun will shine thru as they glisten
And I'll stand back and view them with pride--
Next, I will vacuum the carpet
I'll run it with all of my might
I'll even do all of the corners
There won't be a dog hair in sight--
Hmmmm, should I clean out the cupboards
Wash dishes, the pots and the pans
Rearrange boxes of cake mix
Wipe dust from the tops of the cans--
Well, maybe I'll wait 'til tomorrow
Too late in the day to start now
I wore myself out writing poems
But, Tuesday I'll do it, I vow!!

"A New Day"

Another day has dawned
shiny and new
Morning glories have been
kissed by the dew
Warm breezes caress me
as they travel through
My gray skies are now
cloudless and blue

A new beginning comes
with each dawn
Yesterdays' sorrows have
passed and gone
Now is the time for me
to move on
God give me strength
to go on alone

Sever all the loathsome ties
that bind me
Loosen the shackles
that confine me
Leave all my worries and cares
behind me
Let your loving presence
remind me
that peace and happiness
will find me.

"Spring Days"

I love the sound of birds
As they twitter in the trees.
I listen to their lovely song
While working on my knees.

I see a flash of color
As they go flying by.
I catch it as I weed
Out of the corner of my eye,

I love the feel it gives me
As I'm helping flowers grow...
The song of the mocking bird
I've always loved it so!

There's beauty in the flowers
As they begin to bloom,
And beauty in the birds as
I examine every plume.

"MY BRIE"

With her wee head on my pillow
And love shine in her eyes
Brie looks at me in wonder
And trust, and thinks me wise-
I hold her on my lap and pray
That she may realize
How very much she means to me
How many tears she dries-
May the angels on my pillow
As I sleep through the night
Hold us both in loving arms
Until the morning light

"BIRDS"

Birds have wings, feathers galore
Robins, Cardinals & Doves, Sparrows, Finches & more
Bright colored feathers, soft footprints in the sand
They add so much beauty to our treasured land

Beautiful songs fill our ears with delight
As they join in a symphony, all in unison take flight
Look to sky at the orchestra on high
Take a deep breath, a soft thankful sign

Colorful feathers, a masterpiece of art
Forming a mosaic, the artist so smart
So each day, enjoy the gift from above
A Robin, a Cardinal & even a Dove

"Crow Talk"

The crow spoke to me today
in his wisdom
He know the secrets of the ages
He can see far into the future
and he remembers the past
The crow spoke to me today
I smiled
both inside
and out
If only I had the wisdom
of the crow
If only I knew his secrets
Oh, gentle crow
I will meet you again....
tomorrow
The crow spoke to me today......

"Friends"

"TO MY FRIEND"

A treasured friend you've been to me.
We've been as close as friends could be.
You've listened to my tales of woe
and wiped the tears that freely flowed.
You gave me hope and sympathy
whenever times were tough for me.
You've shared my joy, you've shared my pain
through days of sunshine, days of rain.
I could search the world and never find
anyone as loving or as kind.
Of all the things of which I boast,
a friend like you I treasure most.
I hope somehow that I can be
the kind of friend you've been to me.

JOLIEA 6/23/01

"God's Gift"

How can we last without friendships
We need them to get through life
To help us enjoy the good times
And see us through times of strife

A friend is someone to talk to
When everything seems to go wrong
Or someone who'll just sit with you
And enjoy your favorite song

A good friend will be there for you
Share all the good times and bad
They always want to cheer you up
To keep you from feeling sad

My best friend understands me
And listens to what I say
She makes me feel good about myself
And brightens my dullest day

So, thank you God for giving us
Someone who'll always be there
You knew we would need our friendships
You gave us someone to care

"Summer Love"

So long ago it was the summer of my life
You and I had met in our spring
We became inseperable as we spent each waking moment together
We enjoyed the springtime as we grew together
Suddenly summer arrived and love came in
We vowed always to share our lives with one another
And so it was that summer as we played at the games all lovers play
Stolen kisses and warm embraces and words of passion
The nights of the torrid summer spent together
Only our love, was hotter than the nights
We walked in the moonlight
And drove from place to place then parked by the river
Where we watched the barges and the boats drift past
The heat of the summer nights all too soon faded into autumn
The nights cooled as did our summer love
Never to be forgotten

"Summertime of Long Ago"

Meant going barefoot,
Wading in the cool creek
Tending fields with a hoe

Wearing a straw hat
To shield my head
From summer's sun
No baked brains please

Sudden showers in afternoon
That settled the dust,
And made the world
Smell brand new

Summertime today
Means being on my knees
Pulling weeds,
While I'm down here,
Might as well pray

Its every shade of flower
Known to mankind
Its tomatoes ripening
In the boiling sun

Perspiration running
Down my face, back,
Chest, whew!
Wipe away with shirttail

Summertime is birdsong,
And butterflies,
Grandkids playing
In the sprinkler

Summertime is
The respite from
A long, cold, forever
Winter

"SUMMERTIME"

Can't believe it has arrived, quite so fast
Hope it will be much better than the last.
It was so cold and rainy too...
There wasn't much outside we could do.

Summer is a time to relax body and soul.
Cold winter weather sure takes its toll.
Nice to enjoy long leisurely walks,
Visit with friends, have "remember when" talks.

Renew old Friendships, make some new,
Time to enjoy things you always wanted to do.
Take a nap or find a book to read,
Just give yourself a chance to get the rest you need.

Many sunny days will be coming your way,
Work in the garden, and enjoy your day.
Summer will soon be over, hope you did it all
Because you'll soon be seeing the colored leaves of fall.

"Summertime"

Summers days is barefoot time
Summers days are memories for chilled
winter nights
Summers days says now the sunshine rays
beckons outdoor
play
and play we do
Summer days with sand between our toes
Summer days where glasses harmonizes with
the
sweet taste of pink lemonade
Summer days in hammock lays while thoughts
drifted
aimlessly towards blank nothingness to only
fathom
bright awakeningness of future days ahead
Summer days makes children of us all
Oh summer days move slowly so that once
again I too can
go barefooted amongst the fields that bloom
their
brightly heads waving gleefully come play
with me

Repectfully submitted

"Summer Night"

Night has fallen
Weary from the heat of the day
I step outside
A cool breeze brushes my face
Looking up, I am spellbound
By the radiance of the stars
The vastness of the universe
Such a peacefulness
Washes over me
As summer begins

Peanut 6/18/2001

"Summertime Showers"

Slow easy showers,
and beautiful flowers.
Relaxing quietly in my swing,
watching the birds,
doing their summer thing.
Tending and mending
with much care.
Tiny gardeners and partners,
their eagerness to share.

jann 6/18/01

"SUMMERTIME"

Summertime has arrived at last
freeing us from the icy blast
of winters' long unwelcome stay
chasing our winter blues away.

A myriad of flowers perfume the air.
Honey bees are buzzing everywhere.
Birds are singing their sweet song
to everyone that comes along.

To Summertime I raise a toast.
Here's to the things I love the most:
To backyard pools and barbecues
and doing only what I choose.

To children playing in the park,
chasing fireflies in the dark.
To lovers strolling hand in hand,
walking barefoot in the sand.

To fireworks on the fourth of July
blazing, bursting, high in the sky.
To baseball games and hot-dogs too,
and spending all my time with you.

"Summertime"

The sun is hot and summer
will soon be here.
I think in Florida it's already near.
In the sun we get nice tans.
But on the beach is too much sand.
Sports and Picnics in the shade of a tree.
But I prefer mountains you See!

"DREAMS"

In dreams
you are with me again,
holding me,
loving me.
We dance,
we sing,
we laugh.
I am elated,
filled with happiness.
I awake to find
it was only a dream.
I cry!!

"Dreams! Dreams"

Can be both large and small,
wish ever way your Life may call.
Dream of a Roof over your Head.
If you are Homeless with no one to care.
You may think Life has gone sour.
Dream of a European Vacation if you can afford.
Dream that your Family will be Happy and well.
I think this is the ring of the Bell.
So you see dream for different people is a different thing.

"DREAMS OF MY LIFE"

In childhood my dreams were grand.
I could fly and soar by my own hand.

Or I trembled in dread and fear
of things that hovered ever so near.

In the bright light of dawn
I'd open my eyes and the demons were gone.

So on through my life it seems
I have been intrigued by my dreams.

Never sure what they have meant.
Sometimes wondering.......was it real or dreamt?

Written by kclady, June 13,2001

Rosemart-6-10-01

"Dream"

If you are but a dream why do I hear
Your voice and see your smile in everyone
Who passes me in the day, I see your dark
Brown eyes and golden hair
I long to be with you but yet you only come
To me when in a dream, Oh my love do you
Not know the longing I have for you do not
Hide from me and be only near in dreamland
My life is yours to share I offer to you come
I beg from the dream world into my world
Take my hand and follow me I will not lead
You astray, safe with me you shall always be
So awake my lover and come into the
Daylight with me!

"My Dream World"

When life gets to be too much
And I need to escape
I sit outside on the back deck
And stare off across the fields
I watch the heavens
Seeing clouds form into shapes
That are pleasing to my eyes
Slowly changing
Filling my mind with storybook imagination
Or, after dark
I gaze into the night sky at the stars
Dreaming that I live in some far away land-

|

JOLIEA 5/23/01

"Shadows"

I dare not turn around,
Look into the shadows of my life
The road filled with nails.
My toes crease the sun,
Shadows grasp my heels.
Let me not look back,
It is cold, lonely, hurting there

"IN THE SHADOWS"

Deep in the shadow of the old oak tree,
My love and I sat happy as could be
Having our lunch in picnic style
As I gazed at my honey's wonderful smile.

We were oh so very much in love
Sheltered by branches high above,
Remembering the time when we first met
We never guessed how good it would get.

With the war years behind us, all those years spent at sea,
Soon we would marry and start a family.
Nothing could be as bad as the past,
He was home and safe in my arms, at last.

Many years have passed since we sat by that tree...
Soon we will celebrate Anniversary number 53,
But I'll always remember that happy time,
When he carved his initials right next to mine.

"My Shadow"

She was always at my side as a
Child I played the games children do
When I would scold her for following me
As we played hide and go seek 'cause
As the Seeker would see her standing
There wagging her tail as I hid behind the bush
She was with me constantly until she left
Me at her age of twelve and I at seventeen
She looked at me with trusting eyes as the
Vet examined her, her hip was broken he told
Me best to let her sleep~~~the eternal sleep
So I made that decision then and tears I shed
So now she is in the land of pets who leave the
Ones they love, she waits there for me to cross
The Rainbow Bridge and call her name and once
More her tail will wag in excitement as she and I
Journey together again into the next world
Together my Shadow and me!

"Shadows On The Wall "

I lay here--half awake
Seeing shadows of trees
Leaves swaying in the faint Autumn breeze
Making patterns on my bedroom wall
Now still-----
Now moving, as cars rush by
Their headlights splashing a golden glow
Into the darkness
Keeping me awake
So that I see
Shadows of trees
Making patterns on the wall

"MOTHER"

Our Mother stood by us every step along the way
Until she left this earth, oh, what a dreadful day
She held us in her tender arms, when our fevers were so high
Always listened to our problems, then gave a loving sigh
Mother, why did you leave us when we needed you most
You did not see our children grow, or eat our special roast
You left us to our own devices, we felt so lost and sad
So many deep feelings, we felt we would go mad
Your precious soul traveled to the heavens high above
Never to know and enjoy your daughters’ heartfelt love
We asked the futile question, why take her in her prime
Why couldn’t we have had her for a little more time
The sadness and grief lessens, but never goes away
Our Mother lives in our hearts each and every day
The day will come for many, when Mother is no longer here
To share the love of family and friends she always held so dear
The message here is very clear, to those whose mothers live
Shower her daily with love and joy, all your hearts can give

"Who Is Peanut"?

So how is your day going? Such a
Simple little question, you have no idea
How much that simple little line means to me
It says so many things about the person who
Is doing the asking, it shows she really cares
And behind the few words are worlds of understanding
She knows the feelings we share and what each
Means to the other~~is between the lines we read
The heart of one for the other~~secrets deep into our souls

We share and meant for no other~~if I can only
Have her love but for a few months a few years or until
The end of time I know that I am the better for her loving
Patience~~~~ honesty~~~forgiveness~~~what more need
Be said to explain this Friend who I happen to love

"Summer's Here"

Here come the bugs, here come the bees..
Look up and see the birds in the trees.
Everyone is busy doing what they know best..
Ants building hills, bees gathering nectar, birds making nests.

Flowers are popping out everywhere you look,
The fish are all busy swimming in the brook.
The fern unwinding their graceful fronds
The mallards and the swans beautiful in the ponds.

Look over there---birds learning how to fly...
So many visions to enjoy are pleasing to the eye.
The bees are making honey so delicate and sweet...
The mocking bird is singing, a new dawn to greet.

The robins searching for worms, over there's a mourning dove,
The nightingale is singing it's beautiful song of love.
There are so many sights to see, I can hardly take it in,
I just love this time of year, glad to see it all begin.

"REMEMBERED DREAM"

I seem to remember
A time long past
When I strolled with my love
Through the snow covered grass-
We talked and laughed
As we walked hand in hand
'Midst the sparkling
Sun speckled wonderland-
The plans that we made
And those feelings of trust
Lost in a faded memory
Now covered with dust-
Was he only a dream
Some fantasy guy
Then why does he reflect
In the many tears I cry
'Cause whenever it snows
And the ground sparkles white
Off in the distance
I see a faint light-
And then I remember
That lost love of mine
As only a memory
A shadow in time-

"THE SUNRISE"

As I watch the early morning sunrise
I feel a passionate longing for the new day.
A curious kinship with all living creatures.
Time seems to stand still.
Even the song birds are silent.
Mother Nature waits with abated breath
as the fiery red sun emerges above the horizon
illuminating the earth with its brilliance.
Another day has arrived,
bright and clear.
The birds resume their singing.
With a grateful sigh....I welcome the day.

"A Bad Time"

When I'm down and out,
and want to pout .
Such an inner fight,
for dear life.
All alone in my sight.
Always so near,
why are things not clear.?
They will not sub-side,
but only slide,
with no place to hide..
Another bad day has ,
almost passed.
Why does this feeling,
linger and last?
A dim flickering of life,
now appears,
that helps my fears.
A very warm glow
begans to flow,
and very slow,
if only to stay,
for one more day,
then maybe another,
will show me the way,
i'll try not to stray.

"The Many Colors of a Rainbow"

The glory of colors sitting in the sky, they go
from the very deepest to the light, or is the light
to the deepest; I guess it all depends on how
one looks at the beauty.

A graduation of college students was taking
place on Mother’s Day, the area filled with all
kinds of excitement and anticipation, never
knowing what the day will bring, much less
the future of these fine young (and old)
people..
The graduates sat with much pride, a tent to
cover them from the forces of nature, sitting on
top of a mountain, with the wind blowing and
chilling air surrounding each of us.

Outside the tent, were many people, including
me, as I sat in wonderment straining to hear
the well renowned “Granny D” speak, after
all this woman walked 3200 miles, across our
great country, yes, each of us strained to listen
to her words of wisdom.

The clouds were prevailing in our fair blue skies, out of
nowhere; a rainbow appeared and gave its o.k. to all that
would behold its sight, what a wonderful attribute to pay,
not only to the grads, but, also to the patriotic stand of a
grand woman,,,,a rainbow, such glory. Could one ask for
more, colors so prevailing that the beauty took ones breath
away and let them dwell on the powers of nature and not
man.

"LOVE TRYST"

They held hands across the table
in a dimly lit cafe.
A place carefully chosen,
out of sight and far away.

They had no right to be together,
or say the loving words they said.
For even though they loved each other,
to another they were wed.

They had to keep their love a secret
out of mind and out of sight.
These stolen moments were so precious,
they made the whole world seem right.

With a lingering kiss they parted.
Each one going their separate way,
back to their home and families.
Right or wrong.....who can say?

"My "Daughter"

If I but had a child such as you
How many dreams there would be
To share the joy of mother and daughter
You were not borne of me but you are my child
I have loved you as my very own from the first moment
I looked into your beautiful baby eyes
The years flew quickly past and you now
No longer the darling little girl you were
You are now the beautiful woman who turns
The eyes of all who see you
So on the day for mother's came and you put
Your arms around me and said I love you
My heart was filled with gratitude and love
I thank God He gave me you to love
For you are my child in my heart as
You shall always be, my sweet little girl
Now the beautiful young woman you have become
May God always carry you in His Hands
My darling "daughter" I love you so!

"MY MOTHER"

She is my Mother, she is, also, yours
She prays for me to the Son of God
Through Her I have received so many blessings
For all I am so thankful, when I am lost
She comes and shows me the way
Many times I have failed Her, but being the sweet and
Forgiving Mother, She is always with me in spirit
And, always showing me the path I should lead
Her patience is a wonder, her love unending for me
I pray some day we shall meet in heaven, She is the
Mother of Jesus Christ, She is my heavenly Mother
As She is to all.

"Alzheimer's "

The house, no longer her home,
barren, but for a few odds and ends.
Day after day, the house sits alone,
once filled with recipes and sewing patterns.

Of her memories, few remain;
fragmented shards of crystal balloons.
Mom's house has become her bane;
empty, shuttered, recollections denied.

"MOM"

Hi Mom, I've missed you lately
It's been so very long
Since I could call you on the phone
When everything went wrong-
You used to reassure me
And wipe away my tears
Those times that I was all mixed up
And filled with doubts and fears-
Did I ever make you worry?
I'm sorry if I did
But, you know, I think you understood
'Cause I was just a kid-
You never saw my babies
The last two that were born
But, the other three remember you
Even now, that they are grown-
Now, tears are sliding down my face
'Cause I'm feeling kind of blue
Another Mother's Day is here
Another, without you
But, it's alright, I have a sense
I feel your presence near
Your hand is on my shoulder
And I know that you are here--
I love you Mom--

A Tribute to
Jann-Our Flower of the Month

Our Flower-Jann

Jann is the sweetest flower of all
She's always so patient whenever we call.
She listens to everything we need to say
And is willing to help in any way.

She is prettier than a budding rose...
And works hard to keep us on our toes.
She encourages us all along the way...
So we can write the poem to be sent in today.

She's there to help us every Friday night,
Hoping our poem will be a delight.
We all try to do our very best,
Hope everyone enjoys them--that's the test!

So here's to Jann whose always there,
And she really shows us she does care,
As so faithfully she types up our latest treasure
Hoping they will bring to all much pleasure.

Love ya Jann.

"Two Roses"

The time had come to cleanse my home of
Unneeded items and long ago mementoes
And as I wandered thru the items I had held dear
A book long forgotten I discovered on a top shelf
Tucked behind the photo albums and the sovereigns
Of seasons and events now long past from memory
The book was by Elizabeth Barrett Browning such
Romantic poems she and Robert wrote, my favorites
As I lifted the book from its resting place the pages
Separated and from it fell a Rose! A White Rose pressed
By a young girl so in love many years ago
My interest now aroused I again turned the page
A Red Rose pressed between two blank pages
And written there were the words spoken so long ago
"You are my one pure and passionate love
Please be mine, For I love you so" it was not signed
It did not need a signature for it was the shy young man
Who had hurriedly passed the book to me as he boarded
The train that took him to war, the answer I wished to give
Had never been received for he was never to return
To me , to love nor to life.
How sweet the White Rose and Red Rose given from his
Heart to mine, is it true time heals? I wonder!

"SWEET LILACS"

Sweet lilacs, a flower of May
Vibrant colors, scent of the day
Purple, white & even wine red
It makes me so light in the head
May, my favorite month of the year
Lightens my spirit, my eye forms a tear
Here for a brief stay, how sad, I say
I rejoice nonetheless, you brighten my day
Sweet lilacs, your beauty so rare
Stay a bit longer, if you dare

We could add a day, or maybe a week
So your luscious blossoms we could seek
Enjoying the nectar of your sweet flower
Would give us a feeling of such power
As we think of waiting yet another year
It puts us in such a state of fear
So let us ask our power above
Send us a spiritual message, maybe a dove
To sprinkle the lilacs with magic dust
Another day, another week, make it a must

"Wild Flowers"
by Maggie

The flowers that are planted, with such pride and thought flourish at the
masters touch, never failing, colors all set to compliment one another.
The bulbs are planted in the fall and stay while the snow and ice provide
protection from the winters fury.

Petals open and aromas of beauty fill the air, roses, gardenias, lillies of all
colors and forms, ah, the sweetness of a garden, the master's work comes
full circle and the pride beams from the eyes of the be holder.

Across the street, lies a field of wild flowers, each brought to its destiny
by the freeness of the wind, a view for all to see and captivate on. Flowers
of all colors, sizes and shapes fill the empty area with their glory and
wonder. One stares in total awe of the mystery that has brought these
flowers for one and all to enjoy.

So much like life, one is planned and worked out to the moment, while
another is floating in the wind and wondering where their feet will land,
exploring fields of wild flowers in wonderment.

"FLOWERS"

My house is filled with flowers, in various arrays
In vases, & in wreaths, adding joy to all my days
When I am blue, ill or when I’m feeling sad
Beauty all around me & I begin to feel glad
Yes glad is a feeling, I learned that in my youth
Especially when I saw my shiny new tooth
When I saw my first born, shriveled like a prune
I saw her special beauty, & sang a happy tune
Look around you, at the flowers in your life
Your children, friends & even your wife
Like a bee or butterfly, smell the sweet scent
Flowers all around you, an exciting accent
Think of life without a flower in bloom
It would be depressing & add so much gloom
Flowers & people alike in many ways
So let’s look forward to many more Mays
Mays filled with beautiful flowers galore
Tell me dear friends, need we ask for more

"WILD FLOWERS"

I see a field of wildflowers
Blowing to and fro
In the morning breeze
Bright reds and yellows
Pale pastels of pink and purple
Amid green leaves and tall flowing grass
Blending together
A picture of serenity
Calm and soothing
I feel at peace

"Rose"
DID YOU KNOW?

Flowers are the language of Love?
Given to us by our Lord above...
They are part of everything that gives us pleasure,
No wonder they are one of our greatest treasures.

At weddings, anniversaries and babies' birth too,
Rainbow colors, white, lilac, pink and blue.
In our garden we feed and water them so they grow-
Nothing can add as much beauty, I love them so.

There are World-wide gardens where you see the best,
A beautiful vision to the eye, a place where you rest-
So many colors, so many shapes, lovely fragrance too-
Carnations, roses, lilacs and pansies--colors of every hue.

So open your eyes, look around wherever you go...
Window boxes, flower pots, any place they can grow.
Take in all their beauty spring, summer and fall
Their colors keep on changing, enjoy one and all.

"A ROSE"

A rose from a lover is the fashion,
white for purity, red for passion.
A wondrous beauty to behold,
it's fragrance warming the heart and soul.

He gave me a red rose, I felt such emotion,
He vowed to me his endless devotion.
Beware!! Beware!! I should have been warned,
I grasped the rose and was pricked by a thorn.

"Flowers"

Flowers in my garden grew
Not one or two but quite a few.
And then the rotten chickens came
Scratched them all up! Such a shame.
Flowers here and flowers there
Those flowers flew ‘bout everywhere.
So when all those chicks were done
Not a flower, not a one!
Now my gardens very bare
Not a flower anywhere!

"Grandma-In-Waiting"

Who are you little stranger
In your warm and cosy place
Nine month's too long for me to wait
To look upon your face

Who are you little stranger
Will you love me when you come
Will you let me tell you fairy tales
Make a puppet of my thumb

Who are you little stranger
Will you let me hold you near
Will you come to me for laughter
Will you let me wipe your tear

Who are you little stranger
For that matter who am I
Let's both find out together
It won't be hard to try

'Cause you are made of part of me
And I am part of you
So with your tiny hand in mine
There's nothing we can't do

"WILL SUMMER COME "?

It seems so long since Autumn was here...
With it's Jack-O-Lanterns spreading good cheer.
The beautiful colorful leaves put on their show...
But much too soon the season had to go.

Winter came and we had days of ice and snow
It made it very difficult to be on the go.
It seemed as though it would never end,
And we all hoped Spring was just around the bend.

Well, that is taking much too long...
I'm anxious to hear the birds in song.
Soon they'll be starting to build their next
And the tulips and daffodils will be at their best.

But Summer, dear Summer, "Are you coming or not?"
Soon we'll be complaining "My it's so hot!"
We are always looking for the new season to begin,
Instead of enjoying the one we are currently in!

"Minute by Minute"

I start each day wondering, what the hours will hold?
Will the sun shine brightly, or will it be cold?
Do I clean, bake a cake or leap for joy?
Should I go shopping for that new baby boy?
I stop my questioning, allow myself a rest
Why put myself through this dreadful test?
Deep inside my heart I know I should let go
Not let the thought of time become my bitter foe
“Minute by minute” is what I decide to say
Ease the pain of planning yet another day
Life has no guarantees, our fate not ours to know
Be free; enjoy what comes you way, even the snow
Yes, we cannot predict what fate has in store
When death will come knocking at our door
So prepare each day to shun the devil’s wrath
Showering love & joy along life’s gentle path

"A Dress for Karli"

I had a little helper when making Karli's dress,
I will not tell you who yet, I'll see if you can guess.
Everything was ready, so I could begin,
when Karli yelled out loudly, "Look who's coming in!"
It was my little Seri girl, big trouble with a T,
We knew we had to put her out or sewing would not be!
OUT SERI!
I measured and I pinned, and got the dress cut out,
All ready to sew now, when I heard Karli shout!
"She got back in and grabbed the thread so quick!"
Karli didn't know that Seri knew each and every trick!
So Karli scolded Seri but Seri did resist, and
Karli thought that she had won, but Seri did persist.

Back outside went Seri, now Karli knew she'd won
But my little Seri girl wasn't nearly done.
For the moment all was quiet, then Seri got back in and ran
right to the sewing machine and grabbed the box of pins.
I yelled at her to drop them and Seri did comply
but not before each straight pin was scattered far and nigh.

She knew she was in trouble and headed to the door,
but not before she scattered all the pins upon the floor.
Now the dress is finished, this story’s finished too.
We'll have to wait another day to see what Seri'll do!

"New Week"

Monday, the start of a new week
And tho last week wasn't so bad
This one is going to be better
I'm going to do all that I said--
First, I will take down the curtains
And clean all the windows, both sides
The sun will shine thru as they glisten
And I'll stand back and view them with pride--
Next, I will vacuum the carpet
I'll run it with all of my might
I'll even do all of the corners
There won't be a dog hair in sight--
Hmmmm, should I clean out the cupboards
Wash dishes, the pots and the pans
Rearrange boxes of cake mix
Wipe dust from the tops of the cans--
Well, maybe I'll wait 'til tomorrow
Too late in the day to start now
I wore myself out writing poems
But, Tuesday I'll do it, I vow!!

"A New Day"

Another day has dawned
shiny and new
Morning glories have been
kissed by the dew
Warm breezes caress me
as they travel through
My gray skies are now
cloudless and blue

A new beginning comes
with each dawn
Yesterdays' sorrows have
passed and gone
Now is the time for me
to move on
God give me strength
to go on alone

Sever all the loathsome ties
that bind me
Loosen the shackles
that confine me
Leave all my worries and cares
behind me
Let your loving presence
remind me
that peace and happiness
will find me.

"Spring Days"

I love the sound of birds
As they twitter in the trees.
I listen to their lovely song
While working on my knees.

I see a flash of color
As they go flying by.
I catch it as I weed
Out of the corner of my eye,

I love the feel it gives me
As I'm helping flowers grow...
The song of the mocking bird
I've always loved it so!

There's beauty in the flowers
As they begin to bloom,
And beauty in the birds as
I examine every plume.

"MY BRIE"

With her wee head on my pillow
And love shine in her eyes
Brie looks at me in wonder
And trust, and thinks me wise-
I hold her on my lap and pray
That she may realize
How very much she means to me
How many tears she dries-
May the angels on my pillow
As I sleep through the night
Hold us both in loving arms
Until the morning light

"BIRDS"

Birds have wings, feathers galore
Robins, Cardinals & Doves, Sparrows, Finches & more
Bright colored feathers, soft footprints in the sand
They add so much beauty to our treasured land

Beautiful songs fill our ears with delight
As they join in a symphony, all in unison take flight
Look to sky at the orchestra on high
Take a deep breath, a soft thankful sign

Colorful feathers, a masterpiece of art
Forming a mosaic, the artist so smart
So each day, enjoy the gift from above
A Robin, a Cardinal & even a Dove

"Crow Talk"

The crow spoke to me today
in his wisdom
He know the secrets of the ages
He can see far into the future
and he remembers the past
The crow spoke to me today
I smiled
both inside
and out
If only I had the wisdom
of the crow
If only I knew his secrets
Oh, gentle crow
I will meet you again....
tomorrow
The crow spoke to me today......
