Plenoptic Patterns

At some time or another, we all must find a time when we step back and evaluate ourselves. Unfortunately for myself, this has meant admitting my own fears have come true. We all try to escape our own shortcomings, but eventually they will pounce upon us and swallow us whole. To the three or four people who actually know of what I’m speaking, I don’t know where to begin thanking you. You’ve either attempted to understand, or supported me with your own knowledge of this echoing wound. You have made me realize that there is some kind of hope, that there could possibly be an end to this, and most of all you’ve seen in me what I am unable to and made me feel as though someone cares. Whether or not you know it, you have been my pillars of strength, and although I will forever try, I don’t believe I could possibly repay the kindness you have rendered to me. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You.

With all my Love

"The coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave but one?"
"Of course. Who said it?"
"I don't know."
"He was probably a coward," she said. "He knew a great deal about cowards but nothing about the brave. The brave dies perhaps two thousand deaths if he's intelligent. He simply doesn't mention them."
"I don't know. It's hard to see inside the head of the brave."
"Yes. That's how they keep that way."

~Ernest Hemingway~ A Farewell to Arms

"Here's a sigh to those who love me,
And a smile to those who hate;
And, whatever sky's ablove me,
Here's a heart for every fate."

~Lord Byron

*After a while you learn the subtle differences between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up
and your eyes open,
with the grace of an adult,
Not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to Bring you flowers.*
