Subway Rolls
Subway rolls past my eyes
crushing the tracks over which it glides
electricity jolts below it blue
and, Subway, I ride you.
I ride you under city’s night
inside you I am blocked of sight
I see not commotion of the streets
my eyes solely meet
passengers wearing stony glares
some intense, some just scared
we hold our own the train progresses
the earth’s crust suppresses.
Wheels crash the tracks
pistons rhythmically churn
noises amount in countless stacks
and suddenly all of it turns
to music
and the symphony moves
slowly to fastly and slowly again
taking intermission at 72nd
unbecoming chatter becoming violins
sweet angels to sing away our sins
but as they take to their wings
they bump heads to the bottom of the sidewalk
and that is when I wonder...
the train goes unnoticed by the world it passes
and as it passes back and forth
time and society pass straight away,
so why do I travel beneath the earth,
in my never ending search
for what will bestow me worth?
