September Struck
September Struck
three hours 13 minutes ago,
September didn’t strike the way
a tree bequeaths its leaves to the earth
and the leaf falls dipsy like a daisy parachute so no one gets hurt
September didn’t strike the way
a calendar page may turn right over into its new place like may, june, july did,
and also August,
the end of the harvest,
September struck
like bucks bang antlers n’ temple bones cuz of their testosterone,
cuz of nature,
September strike cuz of nature with bite like a cannibal’s feast on flesh fresh from recent death,
September struck right on a matrix of windows makin’ widows,
them in the black suits looked small as spiders fallin’ a thousand feet on the TV screen
September struck and something went pop with the bubble,
volcano sent ash spewing to gather as rubble
trouble brewing and ensuing,
they’re still pursuing
but revolutions of the earth are inevitable
so September gon’ strike again.
