stopped stirring up all this turmoil
stopped chalking indignant messages on the sidewalk
stopped faking dead in the streets
stopped ridiculing the commander in chief
went home
and just stayed quiet for once in your lives?
Do we as a nation
really want to send mixed messages
in so fragile a time?
Shouldn’t we just unite behind the administration,
because whether or not you support this war
don’t we want it to end as quickly as possible?
And it’s ridiculous not to support our troops
who are risking their lives in our name.
Now that the war has actually started
I think it would be most appropriate
for Bush to fold 1000 cranes of repentance
and for us pinko hippies
to obtain a crane
and smash a hole through the oval office
reduce the White House to rubble with a vicious wrecking ball.
I think turmoil will save lives
I don’t think we should stop stirring until every brick wall of every apartment building, every window of every chain store is drenched with spray paint
until the sidewalks scream truth that no footsteps can hide nor raindrops wash away
until cars can’t see the streets,
must stop driving into apathetical nonchalance
and bear witness to messages
snide revelations
that ridicule the commander, the crones, their cash and cocks.
Mixed messages? Hell yeah
let’s mix anti-Bush messages with anti-war messages with anti-conservative messages with anti-capitalist messages
and if you hawks wanna throw in your own messages
hell, I ain’t stopping you.
Your right, we should unite
we should unite against the administration
and fight the right with all our people’s might
because whether or not you support this war
they’ll wage it as timidly, harmlessly as possible
and end it as quickly as possible
if they meet enough resistance.
And yes, it’s ridiculous not to support our troops.
Support our troops, bring them home
let’s cease to force them to risk their lives
in our name? say what?
not in my name, I tell you that
maybe in Bush’s name,
but even if you like the fucker
it doesn’t seem right to die for him,
maybe in oil’s name?
no matter what the stock market says
an ounce of blood is worth more than a million gallons of oil
maybe in the name of disarmament?
That would be easier if we knew they had anything
and so long as we’re disarming,
let’s disarm ourselves.
maybe in the name of the liberation of the Iraqi people from Saddam’s interests?
and subsequent subjugation to American interests?
Listen, if we were interested in liberation
we would have acted a long itme ago
back in the days when we were supporting his regime
that always needed as much change as a dirty diaper.
Ask those who have been caressed by bombs for the past decade if they feel liberated from anything but life itself.
Ask those who have starved due to our economic sanctions that punish the people for their ruler’s bad behavior if they feel liberated.
Ask Saddam if he feels punished. Even a king under siege will tell you it’s good to be the king.
If we want to liberate them,
why not build up the interior opposition parties?
I don’t suppose Bush has an affinity for the Iraqi communist party,
but I don’t suppose the Iraqi people want to be governed by a self-interested invader who can’t even keep his own country straight
nor do I suppose they want to be ruled by a brutal dictator
so what’s the answer?
Regime change begins at home.
It comes from the bottom-up,
not the top-down, not the outside-in.
Aid Iraq in overthrowing Saddam themselves
and aid them in the transition to a better system
but don’t do it for them,
that is patronizing, presumptuous and ineffective.
Unless, of course
you examine…
the real name they are to die for:
Amerika!
Not Amerika the people, mind you
but Amerika the state
a nation is a false identity for a cluster of people
we should cease to identify ourselves by our government.
Amerika the state is greedy and anxious for growth
anxious for money
for power, for respect
to suck up wealth from foreign soil like an avaricious anteater
to subjugate the masses of the world under one nation, one god
ours. Military mercantilism. Capitalism at its finest.
They want to be the shock and awe of all the world,
that’s why even though September 11 happened in New York
the response came straight out of Texas,
that’s why our military budget takes precedence over health care and education,
that’s why we want everyone but ourselves to disarm,
that’s why such offense was taken at the French insolence…
insecurity? Are we worried our penis, the Washington Monument, almighty phallus of capital, isn’t large enough?
But now that Bush’s bloodlust has rendered him a gigantic erection
he’s too badass for the United Nations
and shall not rest in masturbatory bliss
until we have one, singular nation
united under his hairy cowboy ass.
