Of murdering one of Philadelphia's finest
The state was racist, Mumia brilliant and black
So no wonder he was the one that they attacked
Mumia'd been a Black Panther, he wore dreadlocks
So the jury had no trouble dressing him in deathlocks
Mumia-
locked in a prison cell all day long
Death row
his end soon to dawn
They say he killed one of Philadelphia's finest

Now, consider the suspect, if you will
Spiritual, peaceful
Not the type of man to kill
He has a way with words, so intellectual
He could change the world...
He's one of the finest activists I've encountered
There's that word, "finest"
Mumia Abu-Jamal was one of Philadelphia's finest
So even if he did shoot that cop
Why must the state retaliate?
Why must they now kill one of Philadelphia's finest?
