Ms. Selwitz asked
what was the commotion back there,
and I told her,
I dropped my pen cap.
"Nothing to eat!"
she screamed,
and everybody thinks she’s crazy
they don’t realize
she has watched me
chew my pens to bits
as we learn the laws of the universe
that I intend to break.
When I can not bite my pens,
I turn upon myself,
and my tooth
sharpened by nicking and chipping,
shreds my fingernails down to the brim.
It is cold out here
and I don’t wear gloves
because I like convenience
and revolutions of love
and the tips
of my fingers
scream into my brain
and am I insane
in my need for mental occupation?
I need convenience,
and I need revolution
convenience of yesterday criticizes me now
but for revolution
I will stick needles in my arms
jump away into the night’s breeze
do my body unimaginable harm
if my soul be pleased
and one day I will see
Jesus
I will ask him
to please us.
Holy Orgies
transfix me
will fix me
I will be a divine entity.
