In Sag Harbor
I relegate myself to the second story porch
where the outlandishly bright sun screams at my eyes
where I can look down on the firm field of grass
and the rippling bay ahead
and give a day away to the past
in complete leisure
do nothing but read,
listen to some music
sip a cold Pepsi
and eat a few goldfish
while I listen to the ambience
of birds calling for love
into the breeze
that rustles the leaves
I will burn incense
and ascend to the greater peace
that is so important for the soul to have
as I let today be yesterday
as time ticks away my leisure
