A New World Today Just like they used to be asked
where they were when Kennedy was shot
we will be asked
when our age comes
where were we
when the heartless heralds of death
rammed
the airplane into the World Trade Center

into the world.
It is a new world today.
those who were born today
will live to be dwarved
by those who died today
and they wil live in
anew
world
with a burst of long-felt, deep
hatred
with a burst of human nature
at its worst
racism
a brand-new and improved
stereotyping of Arabs
as terrorists.
Though today has lost much,
it is a new world today
a world
anew
with old,
buried paranoia
elemental racism
innate hate.
though it was a sad day today,
these futures only bring more sadness
as the world tries in futility
to compensate for love lost
with hatred anew.
You can't bring love with hate
you can't bring life with death.
