Blackberry-eating Buck...

It was a bright autumn day in 1996. My small beagle, Gabby, and I were eating blackberries out back of our house. Gabby loved blackberries, almost as much as my current black Labrador Retriever, Jemma. Gabby picked them herself. She would sniff some out, stick her nose right in the bush and put her little sharp teeth around them. We ate peacefully as we listen to the birds chirp and the squirels chatter. I heard a small crackle of leaves as I lifted my head up to see a beautiful buck with small antlers munching on some blackberries only a couple yards away. He saw me then, turned quickly, and took off running through the woods. My immediate gesture was to grab hold of Gabby to keep her from chasing him. I held her close and we watched him trott away. I don't know how long he had been there eating with us, but it sure was funny.
