IN THE SHADE OF THE ELM

IN THE SHADE OF THE ELM

L. M. Willson

I sit in the shade of the elm,
And thirst for the fresh spring air.
I lay on a bed of loveliness,
That forms the earths green hair.

The aroma of locust and honeysuckle,
Arouse the sense of smell.
The scent of the rose and lily,
Gives off their fragrance as well.

The beautiful birds that go winging by,
Fill heaven and earth with song,
And the pretty white clouds that fleece the sky,
Go smoothly and gracefully along.

Oh what a wonderful day to be happy,
And enjoy mother nature in tune.
Then bask in all of God's lovely creation.
Lets pray that man doesn't destroy it too soon.
