Glimpses from a Window
Dennis S. Martin

What is a poem?
These lyrical little glimpses of life
Snippets from the window of one's soul;
A tiny picture framed in rhyme,
Formed by words as they unfold.
'Come, let me show, let me demonstrate',
Pleads the poet's gentle sigh.
'Let my words paint a landscape of life,
Of the sun and stars, moon and sky.'
Quickly the words leap out from the page
Flowing swiftly like waters downstream;
Painting a portrait of metaphor,
Creating a world filled with wonderful dreams.
Finding our souls with a measure so sure
That the truth of it cuts like a knife.
Leaving us wondering who stole our tale
In a glimpse from the window of life.

LavendarRose, is a freelance writer in Nashville, Tennessee. She writes website content, newspaper and magazine articles, press releases, brochures, poetry, short stories, essays, books, newsletters, and research projects. Since she has a Bachelor's in Metaphysics from American Institute of Holistic Theology she will raise your eyebrows when writing about science and spirituality. Fortunately she does it with a sense of humor. You've got to read her book entitled Email Episodes.

Mrs. Rags resides in the Pacific Northwest and is a true-to-life writer who enjoys the process of her art. She's a woman with most impressive credentials. She's been a homemaker and back seat driver for 28 years and has earned the right to be called grandmother by her six grandkids. She's still young enough to remember sex....well, sometimes. No, those aren't tatoos - they are age spots! Her writing is fun, concise, and always meaningful.

Dennis S. Martin is originally from Georgia, but has spent most of his adult life in Dundalk, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore. Jean Rover

David Webb is to poetry what Amana is to refrigerators, usually coming in the standard size, and a wide array of white, decorator features. Unable to make a living from sports writing, or his collections of 1940’s bottle caps, Dave has been forced to play the gypsy, and find gainful employment in Tennessee, and Texas, while also occasionally supplying poems, short stories, and freelance newspaper articles, to those desperate editors with publication space to fill. He is inclined to favor poetry in the manner of The War Poets, such as Rupert Brooke, John McCrae, Wilfred Owen, Issac Rosenberg, Alan Seeger, Edward Thomas, and frequently antiwar-war poet, Seigfried Sassoon. Still looking for the next mountain to climb, or the next molehill to make into a mountain, he remains sequestered in a remote plateau area north of Nashville, Tennessee.

Sarah Moore is our newest member originally from Laurel, Maryland, now doing time in Nashville, Tennessee.

Katie Curry Katie is our youngest poet, only 12, but you would never know it from her deep and mature philosophical writing. Katie has created her own religion (and code to go with it) called Lunara. It is a belief that she has had all her life, but she’s still revising it and thinking through it more carefully. Katie says, “The code is very beautiful, if I do say so myself, and I am quite fluent writing it, though I am slow reading it. It's very complicated and I can't read the rules of it very quickly, but I still write in it almost every day.” She loves creating art, and she sells some of her pieces on ebay, like her Thought-Full Angel Dolls. She loves thinking through things and figuring things out, constantly questioning religion, the future, government, and death.
