Let Me Love You

It was unbelievably hot, and the repair man said it would be at least three days before the air conditioner was fixed. They had to order a part. She hated August. Her hair felt unbearably heavy on her neck and it certainly wasn’t making her feel cooler. She lifted it off her neck and closed her eyes in pleasure as a light breeze kissed her fevered skin. Her lips curved in a smile as she remembered the last time she had been this hot. It hadn’t been nearly so unpleasant. If she kept her eyes closed, she could almost feel him there with her again.
Sometimes I close my eyes
And imagine you with me
Chasing passion into the night
All tangled in a dream
His arms wrapped around her waist and his lips rested lightly against her neck. She leaned back against him, not minding the additional heat. All that mattered was him . . . and those delicious feelings he created inside her. She sighed and rolled her head to the other side. He took the hint. A soft moan escaped her as his mouth traveled up the other side of her neck and then traced the shell of her ear. Her knees felt weak and she leaned more heavily against him. His hands slid down to her hips, guiding her in a slow, sensual dance. She turned in his arms, still not opening her eyes.
Oh if you could see my heart
The way I feel inside
You would know just how far
I’m willing to go to get to you
There is nothing I won’t do
The fantasy continued as he gathered the hem of the very short sun-dress and lifted it just slightly, just enough that his fingers could brush the tops of her thighs. He kissed her shoulder, by the flimsy strap, then followed the neckline. She squirmed as he tugged the neckline down just the slightest bit and dipped his tongue between her breasts. She melted against him as he kissed her lips, softly at first but with increasing urgency as their passion grew.
She sighed, making herself stop this. It wasn’t going to do anything but make her miss him more. Her fingers lightly touched her lips, but even the lightest touch could never compare to his feathery kisses. She squeezed her eyes shut tight, but a lone tear escaped, rolling down her cheek and glistening in the dying sunlight coming through the window.
Let me show you what it’s like
To lose control free the desire in your soul
Oooh let me love you
Let me take you to a place like nowhere else
Show you the things you’ve never felt
Oooh let me love you
He had been staring from the doorway, content to just look at her. She seemed to be glowing and while the logical part of his mind knew it was sweat from the unbearable heat; the rest of him couldn’t help making the connection to that day so long ago, when their passion had made the oppressive summer heat seem positively frigid by compare. Then he saw the tear and he could have sworn she whispered his name. The pain and loneliness and sorrow so evident in her was too much for him to bear. He crossed the room in three long strides and gently wiped the tear away.
Her eyes flew open and she stumbled back, frightened by the touch because she had been so certain she was alone. Her eyes widened and one hand flew up in front of her mouth as she gasped. "Josh?"
"I’m really here, baby."
"Oh, I’ve missed you so much," she cried, throwing herself into his arms.
"I couldn’t stand to be away from you a minute longer." She didn’t get to respond because he kissed her, unable to hold back any longer.
I want to taste your kiss
Be the reason for your smile
Touch the magic on your skin
Be the one that drives you wild
His kiss wasn’t the way she remembered. It was better.
"What about the tour?"
"I pretty much had the next couple days free, except for promotional stuff. They can do that without me." Her eyes filled up with tears, touched that he would take the risk for her. She knew it hadn’t been so simple as he seemed to want her to believe. "Beckie?" His voice pulled her from her thoughts. The way he said her name made her weak. "Do you realize what you’re wearing?"
"I . . . well, no, I hadn’t thought about it," she said, confused at first. Then it dawned on her. She was wearing THE dress . . . the same one she’d had on that first time, when it was so hot.
"What do you say we let history repeat itself?" he whispered against her ear. She shivered. She couldn’t answer, but she didn’t have to as he eased the straps off her shoulders and pulled down the zipper. His lips against her spine made her feel cool and yet hotter all at once.
Oh if you could read my mind
You’d know you’re everything I need
You’d see yourself through my eyes
And you’d understand what I’m going through
And just how much I want you
He made quick work of their clothes, certain waiting would kill him. He held her at arms length, drinking in the sight of her. "Do you have any idea . . ." he muttered, unable to finish the question because there were much more important things on his mind.
He kissed her hungrily, devouring her essence. He leaned down, his mouth leaving a damp trail from her throat to her chest. She gasped, clutching his head to her as his gently sucked on first one nipple then the other. His hands traced the contours of her body as he slowly trailed kisses down her body, finally kneeling in front of her. She bit her lip, holding back the scream that was fighting to break free of her throat at that first touch of his tongue where she needed it most. He tightened his hold on her as her knees buckled, lowering her gently to the floor.
Let me show you what it’s like
To lose control free the desire in your soul
Oooh let me love you
Let me take you to a place like nowhere else
Show you the things you’ve never felt
Oooh let me love you
He stretched out beside her, his fingers playing her like a fine instrument. "Stop fighting it," he whispered. "Just let go." She didn’t want to. She wanted to make it last, afraid that if she finally gave in to the wave trying to wash her away, she would come down to find he had never really been there at all.
"I’m not going anywhere anytime soon," he said. It always amazed her that he knew her that well. She couldn’t stand it anymore and she let the feelings carry her away, softly calling his name as the pleasure washed over her.
Let me love you
"I love you, Beckie," he whispered, kissing her softly as she recovered. Her eyes filled with tears at his words. She had known for so long, but he hadn’t ever said it.
"I love you too, Josh."
He kissed her again, pulling her on top of his body. He knew the floor would be too much for her delicate skin. She moved away from him, settling across his knees. He tried to pull her back up but she stopped him.
"I know you don’t like to," he said.
"I want to," she whispered, and he forgot how to speak as her mouth covered him. He managed to retain enough control to stop her just in time. She allowed him to pull her back up his body. He guided her hips down onto him, hissing with pleasure at the feeling. It had been much too long.
Let me show you what it’s like
To lose control free the desire in your soul
Oooh let me love you
Let me take you to a place like nowhere else
Show you the things you’ve never felt
Oooh let me love you
There was nothing slow or tender about their coupling. There would be time for that later. Right then, both were too caught up in the searing need to care. He held her hips firmly, guiding her movements at a furious pace. She tilted just a bit, grinding herself against him and screamed his name as she gave in once more. The feel of her contracting around him pushed him over the edge and he cried her name in ecstasy. She collapsed atop him, both gasping for breath. He kissed her temple and hugged her to him, his eyes falling shut in contentment. He was going to love her as long as she allowed him to.
Ah, let me love you
Let me love you
