CHAPTER 30

She came back into the kitchen a moment or two later, hands filled with printouts.

“Not only does Justin have a computer, he has a printer!” she declared, waving the papers triumphantly, “ So now, we can read in comfort. Oh and remind me we’re going to have to have a talk with him about that screensaver…”

JC grinned as he scooped pancakes onto two waiting plates.

“What? Pamela Anderson doesn’t do it for you?” he teased.

She shot him a look of disgust as she sat down.

“Um NO,” she said, giving him a dramatic, diva-esque wrist flick, “And it was Jenny McCarthy anyway!”

“Oh, my bad,” he said, joining her, “I get my buxom naked chicks all mixed up sometimes.” He passed her some silverware. “Shall we dine?”

The smell wafting up from the two plates was way too tempting for Sadie to say anything but yes and they both attacked their meal eagerly. The conversation pretty much ended there for a while, but the thread was revisited when they were satisfied.

“Ok, so, can I see now?” JC demanded, pushing away his empty plate and fixing her with his irresistible blue eyes. Sadie raised her chin slightly

“No,” she replied.

“Why not?”

“Because I’m not….”

“Sadie…”

Sadie winced. His voice had taken on that ‘grr’ note again. Sadie knew the ‘grr’ note meant no was not an option.

“Please, please, PLEASE don’t be offended,” she whispered, dropping her eyes. Tentatively, she held out the papers. She felt, rather than saw, him take them.

“I won’t be offended,” he promised.

Sadie bit her lip. She folded her hands in her lap and waited.

The room got very, very quiet.

His face did not change through the whole first page of the first story. Sadie managed to breathe a little bit. Granted, she’d given him the most benign of the bunch to begin with…but the fact that he wasn’t laughing, shrieking or cursing was good. She jiggled her knee and waited some more.

He flipped to page two.

Eyes came to meet her over the edge of the sheet.

“Oh really?” he said, the corners of his mouth twitching.

“Well, you know…” Sadie said, feeling her cheeks flush.

“Yes…I do…but…no one has ever put it like THAT before…”

Sadie turned a lovely shade of cherry.

JC continued reading.

On page three, she saw his breathing hitch.

“That was just a…” she began, hoping to smooth over any rough patches before they turned into potholes. But JC held up his hand

“SHH!” he hissed.

Sadie closed her mouth.

But the way his eyes kept getting wider and wider made her nervous.

He practically tore off three to get to four.

“Shit,” she heard him whisper. One hand wandered up to tangle in his hair. His eyes never left the page.

Sadie fidgeted.

“Shit,” he gasped again. She could see the flush of heat creeping into his cheeks.

Sadie all but chewed her nails to the skin.

Finally, he finished the first of the installments. Putting the pages on the table in front of him, he stared at her in complete awe. He licked his lips.

“People write this way about me?” he asked in disbelief.

“Um…yes,” Sadie said hesitantly.

JC nodded. “And are they all this GOOD?”

Sadie let a smile of relief flood her face.

“No,” she said proudly, “Most of them suck at the sex stuff. I’m one of the few exceptions.”

JC nodded again. Then he stood up. His actions were so sudden, Sadie jerked in surprise.

“Where are you going?” she asked, afraid she really HAD offended him.

“I’m going upstairs,” he replied, “To read the second story.”

He grabbed the papers off the table. Sadie jumped up, bemused.

“Why can’t you read it down here?” she cried.

He was already halfway to the door, but her words halted him. He turned.

She could read the lust in his eyes across the room.

“I could,” he admitted, lips curving into a smile, “But…”

His eyes burned. Sadie stood frozen, caught like prey in his animalistic gaze. He sauntered back towards her.

“But…” he said again, when he was close enough to rest his forehead against hers, “I want to read it alone.”

His hands circled her waist and she felt the brush of his soft lips over her temple. She shuddered.

“Why?” she asked, wanting to mould to his heat. There was nothing sexier than an aroused JC unless it was a wet, aroused JC, and Sadie’s body tingled.

She heard him laugh.

“Because,” he growled, taking her hand.

“Because why?” she demanded, painfully irritated.

“Because,” he said again, tucking her hand inside his robe, “You feel this?”

Sadie nodded, her fingertips brushing the thick, throbbing erection that lingered just below the terrycloth.

“Well…that’s gonna keep you up ALL night baby…but before it does…I need to get some out of my system.”

He kissed her quickly. Sadie let his words sink in.

He was halfway UP the stairs when she finally realized exactly what it was he intended to do and the thought was so erotic, she almost fell to the floor.

“Josh!” she shrieked. Heart pounding, she raced to the bottom landing. JC, at the top, paused and looked down at her over the banister.

“Yes baby?” he said, cocking his head.

Sadie licked her lips and summoned up her best seductive come-hither gaze.

“Can I watch?” she purred, staring him down.

There was silence for a moment.

Then, JC grinned.
