Ch 6:
Ch 6:

Melissa stared at the closed door for a moment, slight confusion furrowing her brow. ‘What just happened? Why
did he walk out so suddenly?’ She decided not to even try to figure it out. She’d known Josh long enough to
know he always had a reason for everything he did, and soon enough she would know what the reason was. She
walked over to the vanity, grabbed her clip and put up her hair. She got undressed and climbed into the tub.
The water wasn’t quite as hot as she would’ve liked, but she realized she was too worn out to do anything
about it. She just let herself lie back against the tub.

Josh walked in a moment later. He stared at her… she was so beautiful. Her eyes were closed, and he
wondered if she had fallen asleep. His very own Sleeping Beauty. Sometimes it still amazed him that it
was possible to love someone as much as he loved her.

Melissa opened her eyes and found Josh standing there, staring at her.

"What are you staring at?" she asked with a smile.

"Just wondering if Sleeping Beauty was really asleep," he replied. "Is the water hot enough?"

She shrugged. "I guess it could be a little warmer."

He walked over to the tub and sat on the edge, near where Melissa’s feet were. He reached down into the
water and pulled out the stopper, let the water drain about halfway, then turned on the hot water. Melissa
could feel her tension melting away as the warmth spread throughout her body.

 "That feels great. Thanks sweetie."

"No problem," he replied.

He stood and walked over to the vanity, and picked up the chair that was sitting
in front of it. He moved around the tub, setting down the chair behind Melissa’s head. He sat down and began
to massage her shoulders.

She sighed. "Wow, you’re really spoiling me here honey."

"You deserve to be spoiled every now and then babe," he said with a laugh.

She returned the laugh.

"Better be careful Joshua. I might get used to this. Then you’d really be in trouble."

When he didn’t respond, Melissa looked up over her shoulder at him. He was totally staring off into
space.
 "Josh? Are you ok?"

His head shook a bit, as if he were trying to shake himself back into reality.

"Yeah, I’m fine."

"Where were you just now? What’s going on in that head of yours?"

"Nothing is going on. Now turn around and let me spoil you some more."

Going against her instincts, Melissa did as she was asked and turned around.

"Could you really have any idea how much I love you Mel?"
