When Souls Collide

When souls collide
by chance, not choice
and your heart flutters
at the mere sight of the other
this connection
with a stranger
indescribable
this feeling
overwhelms you
pulling and pushing
your thoughts
in directions they've never been
and you forget
heartaches
and heartbreaks
for the magic of this moment
erases the deepest scars
and lifts your spirit
the ultimate high
when souls collide

Unspoken

letters, handwritten
tied with a bow
still smelling
of his cologne
letters, heartfelt
gathered over time
filled with emotion
with prose and with rhyme
letters, collected
each word a treasured token
of the love they shared
penned but unspoken

Sweet Song of Us

like an old song
I still hear you
every now and again
a small reminder
of where my heart has been
the subtle rhythm
lulls me to sleep
submerged in dreams
the memories I keep
softly sung melodies
echo through the night
like hearts beating in unison
holding each other tight
the sweet song of us
still sways my emotions
painful reminiscence
still searing with devotion

Sweet Love

Images scatter
In a flight of thought
As her mind takes wing
To destinies sought
Her heart aflutter
With emotions in a whirl
She dances lightly upon clouds
As when she was but a girl
When love was spun into dreams
Of fairytale romance
And a young girl's thoughts
Were perpetually entranced
Lighthearted fancy
Sealed with a kiss
The innocence of youth
Such heavenly bliss
Now rediscovered
With one touch of his hand
As she looks into his eyes
She begins to understand
Love when untainted
And allowed to fully bloom
Is sweeter than honeysuckle
On a lazy summer afternoon

I Still Think of You

So long since we've spoken
And yet your memory lingers
Brushing gently across my heart
As the soft, cool breeze of Spring
Renewing my longing,
If but for a moment
To hold you in my thoughts again
And hear the sweet resonance of your words
Echoing heartbeats,
The sounds of "I miss you"
Lightly strummed on heartstrings
The sweetest song of You

Words No Longer Come Easily

Forgetting doesn't come easy
And I hope you don't mind
If my thoughts find their way back to you
And another place in time

A time when we shared a dream
And the words came so easily
Because since you went away
My muse, she eludes me

In the wee hours of morning
A blank page stares back at me
And I'm forced to turn away
Because the vision has become so hard to see

Through misty eyes of remembrance
I journey through dreams of our storied time
Searching for the words that used to come so easily
For what use is the poet who has lost her rhyme

Remembering Him

She struggles to breathe
Her heart racing
And her mind reeling
In the moment
She believes a dream
Just another illusion
Of him...

Her heart's desire
The one who lit the fire
Burning within her eyes
Only to leave her falling
Her thoughts spiraling
In "what ifs" and "whys"
Cursing the cruel hand of fate
She wonders if she'll ever forget
The shimmer of blue eyes
And how stars paled in comparison
Or how simple words took hold of her heart
And held it closely for so long
Making her believe again
In a "happily ever after" kind of love

..."Him", the word brings a smile
He hasn't forgotten
And she knows... she never will
For destiny has bound them
Two souls who touched briefly
Only to be remembered eternally
In a smile
