The Big Snow

Written: January 6, 2005

Heaviness of the snow lingers on the Evergreens

The Pines straining ever so hard not to snap

Sounds become distant, even though they are next door

The snow silences everything

It is yet so beautiful, glistening under the midday sun

Birds scurrying for food

Squirrels forgetting where their pantry was

Our virtual puppy digging her nose into the wet snow

How our puppy loves the cold and the snow

Because of New England weather, that snow will dissipate tomorrow

The sun will be out and those Evergreens and Pines will be

Smiling and stretching their branches up toward the sky

Only to wonder when they will be emptied upon again

I'm such an incurable romantic

Something about me:

As a child you would always find me playing school. In a nutshell, I guess I wanted to be a teacher. Well, that never happened, although at one point I was teaching cooking at our local Girl's Club while attending high school. I also helped the nuns at my Catholic church teach catechism, when I was very young.

I always had the urge to write and when my father passed away in October of 1976, I wrote my first poem. Writing is a strange thing. You either feel the need to write something, or you have nothing being thought about in your head to write about. I find as time goes on and men just don't understand where I am coming from and how deep of a person I really am, I began to write more often than not. Then in November of 1999, I lost one of my very best friends, which made me write my first story. I am talking a significant story. To this day, it is my favorite article that I've written.

I got to write for a paper once, as the guest author. I really liked that and it's funny that when you come from a small town, everyone knew I had written it. So, come in, sit down, relax and listen to my heart as I share some of my moments. I hope you enjoy them.

To find some of my poetry, please go to www.poetry.com and enter author name as Carol Livernois-Mitchell.

I just published my first book (poems) on February 17, 2005. It's titled "E..motions" and can be found at www.authorhouse.com
I am already hard at work on my second book (stories) which should be published later this year! Ask me if I am excited, dear readers!!

Time Well Spent Carol Livernois-Mitchell 2/23/05

With pen in hand, I write my dreams
Hoping that what I pen will remind you
Of someone, something, perhaps a day or a moment
I shared my heart and soul with the world
You re-read once again today
Something I’d written long ago
Only this time, you truly remembered
That whirlwind kiss
The walk around that pond
Those misty kisses of love
Shared with someone special
But I made you remember
I made you remember
The scent of her hair
Her sweet kisses
Not wanting to part
But having to do so
I did my job as I often do
However, will I ever have
What you had at that moment?
