Autumn In the Rockies
Selected Haiku
by Rosemary J. Gwaltney
ripening pumpkins
the iced fields in sunrise
glitter with hoarfrost
brilliant sun dazzles
glow on mounting purple clouds
thunderhead afire
beneath dried cornstalks
through scattered blades of moonlight
field mouse scuttles
barbed wire fence
carves pasture from forest
scars on deer flank
diamond strung threads
spider's necklace drapes
stream's slender neck
lightning struck cedar
lies alone on forest floor
twenty years of moss
last yellow rose nipped
from stem graceful deer munches
close to my window
