IN THE DARKNESS

BY

MICHAEL JOHNS

In the darkness they must travel,
to the light at the end of their tunnel.
for in that light they find salvation,
the only thing that can save our nation.
Soldiers fight to win our wars,
Politicians decide what they are fighting for.
Soldiers hardly sleep,
and their mothers constantly weep.
They pray for the day their child will return,
hoping they will survive and not get burned.
Our american soldiers fight long and hard,
hoping to come home and sit in their own yard.
we all pray for our soldiers at war,
And we have decided what they are fighting for.
They fight for our freedom and our dreams,
acting out our retaliation schemes.
They are the reason we are still free,
which makes them important to you and me.
in the darkness that they know too well,
trying to escape the war wich is hell.
They see their salvation at the end of their tunnel,
And pray to survive the long harsh tumble.
Welcome them home when the war is over,
feed them a good meal and let them pet rover.
Greet them with the light of a smile,
so they will know it was all worth while.
