I feel so much

And long to know

Him on a level

That the world doesn’t see

He exists in depths

That much I can tell

Deep reservoirs of emotion

Pooled in his eyes

Demeans himself

And I would this deny

The inferior image

He holds of self

Macho and tough

He didn’t wish to offend

Me by laughing

It, the drawing, lacked not in quality

Brooding and dark

I’d never call him ugly

(Extremely handsome, which is quite the opposite)

But how do you approach

One who lacks self-esteem?
